Overview

Synopsis

Benny is a nebbish hapless romantic.

His major problem is that he spends too much time in his own head, never saying or doing what he wants. One example? He's been allowing his buddy Sunshine, a poet with naked ambition (he literally walks around in the buff) to live with
him rent-free.

After eyeing a beautiful "worry-free" girl (Jordan) at a concert, but without the courage to say anything, Benny randomly runs into her again.

Driven to take advantage of a second chance, and following the advice of a fortune cookie, Benny takes the plunge and approaches her, setting forth a lazy, hazy and dreamy autumn weekend romance, full of wit, whimsy, pathos and neuroses.

There's some really great writing here; we really feel like we're inside the character's head. However, the teaser sort of maroons it all in a grey, contextless sea, The other quirky details in the summary (a poet-roommate who walks around naked, living rent-free) sound great; it's too bad we weren't able to see more of that. Finally, with this kind of story, I always ask, "Why?" Why is this story of a nebbish-y insecure young man (filmmakers seem to make a lot of these; hmm . . . ) coming slightly more to grips with himself important? Why this, why now? Is his entire life just about his sexual/romantic success? With a bit more information, I could have really liked this trailer (though I would probably still feel guilty for indulging in a somewhat overdone genre--unless it was doing something *really* fresh and interesting with the conventions). Cheers!

Thought it was kind of funny, but I think there could have been more added to it to kind of describe the plotline. I had to rely on the synopsis to kind of get the idea of what it was about otherwise interesting

Based on this uploaded trailer alone, as that's what I'm supposed to be rating, I felt while this could be used as an interesting marketing piece for the film, I feel that as our main representation of the film on Cinecoup, it's unfortunately weak in that its really not something that I can see competing with the other films on here for a prize. Would've liked to see you take more advantage of the opportunity and put a real trailer that showcases your vision and not just a teaser. Also, the stretched aspect ratio of the 2nd shot in a film with really only 3 shots total further makes me lose interest in this piece.

I was really drawn in by this. I loved the intimate close-ups, the casting, and the voice-over, and the flashing lights and music. it really captures the spontaneous uncertainty of deciding how and whether to approach someone. I really want to actually know what happens now. I would watch this movie.

Thanks for all the reviews and the feedback good or bad everyone. I am interested to know how Peter M can gather from the scene that the writer lacks experience in the subject matter of romance or comedy or - in what the scene is about - neurotic-ness when it comes to approaching girls?

Compared to a lot of other trailers on here, this really doesn't come close. A 4 is my harshest rating yet, but then again, with the volume of films being sent to the big screen, you do need to create something that deserves to be on one. The one scene trailer does nothing to hook viewers, and with a total of 2 camera angles, this could possibly be a vlog rather than a trailer. The main lead comes off as a loser, as opposed to a 'hapless romantic' in the synopsis.
