Although I am a fan of Dov and his work, I don't know if this scene really tells a huge story, it seems too simple
Steve R. Posted 5 months ago
Yes
Jacqueline F. Posted 5 months ago
No I don't like it
Donald Y. Posted 5 months ago
It sounded like being in two bars at once. It could have used more time to tell more story. It started out well but seemed unfinished. Sort of like a thought that isn't carried to conclusion.
Bruiser F. Posted 6 months ago
I like the lighting but the scene itself lacked substance. This one needs more of a backbone. It felt undone
ajit s. Posted 6 months ago
Nice lighting and expressions, but I wish there were a little more to this than just that. Good luck!
Sarah G. Posted 6 months ago
I agree with the people about the music. It kind of messed things up for me. That being said, I like the video. Keep up your work!
Kyle F. Posted 6 months ago
I agree with Genevieve, it seems common almost as if it's just another day.Maybe try to do something where they make contact
Genevieve H. Posted 6 months ago
I've seen it a couple times now it feels like. I know its a lot of work to do the CineCoup process but I really would have liked to see something new.
Michel C. Posted 6 months ago
Nothing new is presented here to intrigue us. I expected more of something new but can appreciate what it takes to do thT
Joslyn P. Posted 7 months ago
It was okay :)
Lindsay F. Posted 7 months ago
I don't feel like this scene brought anything new, but I do really enjoy the effect of the script excerpt. It gives an authentic feel, in my opinion.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Lindsay. Sorta what I was hoping for. To see how I bring something from the page to the screen.
Tony M. Posted 7 months ago
I also like the text at the top, its cool to see where the idea all started from. Dont listen to the others!!!!!
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
That was my intent, not at all to narrate the scene. But actually, I don't want to give myself that much credit. We are required to put a pic with our video postings and that's the only picture I thought would have any sort of significance when at a loss for what I should upload.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
As there's nowhere else to post this across the cinecoup space, I thought should/could here. The reason I put this scene (again) as my SPEECHLESS mission is because it's a moment in my script, where there in genuinely no dialogue and non needed. It's a honest non-speaking moment of connection for my two characters, which sets them forth into the rest of the film. I found, after looking at many other missions, that though there may have been new footage etc, that even the ones that were incredibly well done, were only absent of dialogue as part of the exercise, and in most cases I found it uncomfortable...that most of it worked, but there were many moments where a character would definitely say something, through a hug, a look etc...Some people chose to cut away just as soon as someone would say something, others had their characters be uncharacteristically silent. I found a few that worked for sure. I was taking the approach of having the scene be something that exists in my script and would naturally not involve in sort of communication between characters.
Bari D. Posted 7 months ago
I like the screenplay (script) above. When writing a script I always visualize the "action" played out as if on screen, including the "Shots" and how the "Character" speaks in "dialogue". Great concept - thanks for sharing this. Good luck on your film
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Bari.
Michael M. Posted 7 months ago
I like this idea, but it didnt hook me as much as the original trailer did. Either way I like music and the heavy breathing
Carleigh B. Posted 7 months ago
I didn't really care for the score that's being payed in the scene. I think the scene could have been a little longer to really add some tension. I find it hard to read what the guy is thinking in the scene however the girl is very clear.
Lyse W. Posted 7 months ago
I like the video a lot, good tension and awkwardness from him. I agree with comments below though that the script is not needed above the video
Abby C. Posted 7 months ago
I think you have done a good job of sticking to the mission. though i'm not sure whether the text on top counts or not. anyway, wishing you luck!
Makenna C. Posted 7 months ago
Even though you haven't used any text in the video, you've put it all out on top in the description. Don't you think that is a little risky? Your video should be able to speak for itself.
Makayla L. Posted 7 months ago
I like the sound of the breathing in the end. Rest of the sound and music didn't really work much for me. Anyway, nice job.
Bianca B. Posted 7 months ago
Nice lighting and expressions, but I wish there were a little more to this than just that. Good luck!
Nevaeh G. Posted 7 months ago
I agree with the people about the music. It kind of messed things up for me. That being said, I like the video. Keep up your work!

YES! YES! YES!
Teela B. Posted 7 months ago
Not for me.vv
Ryan M. Posted 7 months ago
I loved the script photo. Seems well-written. I'm not sure about the scene. The music didn't quite work for me but the film still seems promising.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thank Ryan. I agree re: music.
Marcelle A. Posted 7 months ago
The music and action seem disjointed. I am not sure where you are going with this? I'd like to see the next mission developed a little more
Jenny C. Posted 7 months ago
Not loving this one. I get what you were doing with the music, it just didn't work for me in this case. Good luck with the rest of the competition!
Aiden C. Posted 7 months ago
Didn't I just watch this as the trailer? While you stuck with the mission your lack of additional footage hurt you on this mission compared to other projects.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks. I appreciate your feedback, I think the missions are great, but we all don't have access or flexibility to our actors and crew within weeks notice. We're doing the best we can :)
bhawna g. Posted 7 months ago

Donald Y. Posted 7 months ago
Nicely filmed, but the sound (particularly, the music) did not seem to fit in my mind.
Patrick C. Posted 7 months ago
The other film makers did a lot more with this mission than you guys. This was n't anything new, just remove vocal track. I wanted to see more. I rated the original concept fairly high so I was hoping it went well. Hopefully we get to see more of this project.
Leah N. Posted 7 months ago

Fern L. Posted 7 months ago
Interesting scene but a little too close to the trailer for me. I'd still go see this film when it comes out.
Ken K. Posted 7 months ago
I think this movie has a very strong chance, it looks really great, the editing looks great and the the effects look even better, I can't wait until it comes out.
Colin T. Posted 7 months ago
not the biggest fan of the music here but it doesn't ruin the scene for me. I still think the mood was set and I could understand what was going on. keep up the good work
Paul J. Posted 7 months ago
Isn't this just shots taken from your trailer? I know nothing more about the film after watching this...
I think you have done a good job of sticking to the mission. though i'm not sure whether the text on top counts or not. anyway, wishing you luck!

Lucas P. Posted 7 months ago
This scene wants me to see more. There was definitely some awkwardness portrayed. I will add this to my watchlist.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
YAY!
Samantha B. Posted 7 months ago
Oh yeah, like Michael W. says. Sexual tension is here and that's what has got me so into this film from the beginning.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Fantastic. I'll be making this film no matter what so at least I know I have a bit of an audience :)
Michael W. Posted 7 months ago
I like the lighting and the mood of the scene but I agree with Phil that the music mix was a little intrusive. There was great sexual tension though.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Good and bad, noted.
phil d. Posted 7 months ago
I liked the look and the characters, but the music definitely through me off. It was like two different tracks that didn't work together. I think you were trying to show external and internal, but it felt mushy too me. Needed a stronger choice.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Hey Phil. You hit the head on the nail (external vs internal music). But I totally agree. WIth my limited post-sound experience I didn't pull it off. At. All.
Ryan G. Posted 7 months ago
When you watch them stare at each other, its amazing how much you can read into their thoughts. Her playfulness, his nervousness. Its entrancing.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Ryan G. Originally I was going to just use ONE angle for that very reason, but thought that masses would go crazy. I can't wait to shoot this scene for REALZIES.
Johnny A. Posted 7 months ago
Nooooooo I really liked this project but this video kinda turned me off of it. I hope you can get back on track soon.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Nooooooooooooooooo (said in that awful Hayden Christensen from the 3rd Star Wars bellow). Sorry, Johnny! We'll get our act together.
Kevin N. Posted 7 months ago
Are there two tracks playing here? This really confused me. Or my ears. I liked visuals though. Wish you guys luck!
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Kevin. There's a little war going on inside Benny's head, which starts playing his own sweet jazzy track...but I failed to get that across properly. Can't wait to do it for real when I actually make the film.
Farnsworth S. Posted 7 months ago
the music doens't fit the scene at all. Or their movements. SOmething is def wrong here, guys. Need to patch that up.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Agreed. I wasn't able to give it the love and care it needed.
Brent L. Posted 7 months ago
I didn't see the benefit of the script ut I enjoyed the lighting and acting. Keep up the great work guys.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Brent.
Simon T. Posted 7 months ago
I feel like your banner is cheating :) Anyway, the actors convinced me to keep watching. Good luck in the vote!
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Simon T. I'm stoked to be working with Dov and Tommie (the actors).
Jody C. Posted 7 months ago
I've always liked these actors from the first time I saw the trailer. Even though it's a common theme, I feel like they bring just a little something special to the scene.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Jody. Dov and Tommie are incredible.
Ellen F. Posted 7 months ago
Interesting scenario. Many will relate.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
John Hughes taught me if you write it for one person, many will respond, as opposed to writing something for the masses.
Jeff P. Posted 7 months ago
I agree that the lighting was pretty cool and suited the scene well. Also, I like how you used the whole page to create a mood. Good job!
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, it was part of the master plan, but I blew it on the sound!
Katelyn J. Posted 7 months ago
I liked the actors, especially the male. Makes me want to know more about their story.... Good luck!
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Great. Sometimes people don't like a tease, but I don't put out for just anyone :)
Kevin G. Posted 7 months ago
I guess everyone's in agreement with the music so I'll skip that. The scene was well done, the lighting fit the mood and the actors did a great job. Good work from team DollFace!
Jody M. Posted 7 months ago
Interesting use of the whole page here. reading the script up top and seeing it act out. Clever. I agree that the jazz music makes an odd feeling to it all, so I'm not sure how it would play into the overall script. Otherwise, the characters create an interesting dynamic.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks...I agree our music experiment didn't really pan out. It was a last minute decision.
Patti D. Posted 7 months ago
The music switchup really messed it up for me. The girl ended up appearing way off beat and the soft jazz was more of a distraction than anything. I watched it again on mute and i got what you were going for.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Ten-Four. We'll abandon that idea all together.
Sonia P. Posted 7 months ago
Nothing new here...I get what you are trying to accomplish here but I think that you have to try a little bit harder next time...
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Try harder as in new footage? I wish, but both actors were unavailable.
Jennifer M. Posted 7 months ago
This looks very familiar, and I was hoping for something different, but certainly understand the time constraints of the mission. Definitely felt his anxiety when the music dropped out and we were left hearing his ragged breathing-- that part was quite effective.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Jennifer!
Natalia N. Posted 7 months ago
The jazz music kind of threw me off and your description of the scene in the banner didn't really match with what was actually happening. The girl was also just kind of dancing in one spot. She wasn't dancing all crazy and spilling drinks that way it said she was supposed to
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Natalie, are you in the business of filmmaking? Thanks for your feedback.
Natalia N. Posted 6 months ago
Not exactly filmmaking. I'm leaning more towards the acting side:)
Kenzie T. Posted 7 months ago
I'm sorry i just dont like it. It is just watching the trailer again without the voice over. You guys should have done something different
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Should have. Yes. But actually couldn't have. Sorry
Joan M. Posted 7 months ago
Seems the same as your trailer but without the words. Didn't draw me in or make me want to see more.
Mack t. Posted 7 months ago
I liked the music at first but then the jazz music came in and i really didnt like it anymore. Trailer?
Ashley T. Posted 7 months ago
yeah i really dont like it. It worked well as your trailer but this time not so much. Better luck on the next mission
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Ashley. We'll try.
Heather T. Posted 7 months ago
wait so you guys just used your trailer but took away the voice over? i'm sorry but i am disappointing.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Your grammar aside. Nope. True, it's the footage from the trailer, but it's cut differently. Sorry that's all we could do this time.
Rolinda R. Posted 7 months ago
The Next Morning will indeed be an interesting mix of events leading up to..........maybe a match made in heaven.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
I love that you get the concept here! Maybe a match in heaven...
Afzal H. Posted 7 months ago
People are confused about the use of this particular music because the scene is taking place at a music event. I think the music used in this sequence is setting a tone for what is happening with the characters - obviously there's a totally different song playing at the event. Great job guys!
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Some people get it. Some people don't.
Afzal H. Posted 7 months ago
Stay true to your vision. People will get it when they see it as part of a bigger narrative.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
I think it's very hard to watch something that's still being developed and not sure how many commenters on here have ever seen rough cuts etc. I think you're right and believe it! Thanks for your continued support.
Michelle G. Posted 7 months ago
It felt really short. It also felt like I was watching the trailer again but without any voice over. And I agree with Corey that the music was a miss - it looked like the girl was dancing to a different type of music than jazz.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
That's cause she is. The jazz is in Benny's head :) Guess I need better post sound people and money to pay em
Corey T. Posted 7 months ago
Good effort team. I honestly thought the music was a miss for the shot... the characters seemed to be interacting with a different beat. Thankfully with funding for production we can all shoot these scenes the way we feel the story should be told!
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Exactamondo (believe it or not, that's what my mother says)
Chris N. Posted 7 months ago
Loved the mixing of the music. Would have been nice to see new material, but I get the time restraints involved in this project
Eric M. Posted 7 months ago
While I understand the time constraints involved in shooting a new scene, I agree with Mike that it would have been nice to see another part of the film.
Drew R. Posted 7 months ago
I'm on the opposite side as Mike D, the music clashing and the strange sounds give an intoxicating effect and give real sinister vibe of what's about to happen.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Cool. Though I wasn't going for sinister, I did want to play up the anxiety. Thanks for your comments.
Mike D. Posted 7 months ago
This is footage we've already seen, I would have liked to have seen something new. The music is very distracting; there are too many sounds that don't compliment what's going on in the scene. It makes the mood very unclear.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
You never know who has watched the trailer. I have found MANY that haven't. Sorry to disappoint. I blame having children :)
jane D. Posted 7 months ago
it was ok music was not that great
Michelle S. Posted 7 months ago
i'm not sure if i like this. i think it should be much better with different music.I liked reading the piece of script.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Michelle. I was trying to mix in the music he hears in his head, but the experiment didn't work.
Emilio S. Posted 7 months ago
Not sure where you guys were going with the music but great effort. Would have liked to seen something that told a bit more story though.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
I was experimenting with the idea that he hears his own jazzy romantic music above the live rock. That. Did. Not. Go. Well.
Krystle B. Posted 7 months ago
This is the same sequence as the trailer, so it would've been nice to see their "story" before they got to the club, or if they left together.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Totally would have been. Wish we could have shot that, but hard to when our actors are unavailable.
Michael M. Posted 7 months ago
You recycled your trailer. It was better the first time round with the audio "thoughts". It would have been better if you shot something new ...not necessarily to be used in the movie.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
The assignment was to show something that was from the movie. The Good? We already had shot that! The Bad? Um, we already shot that and didn't have access to our actors.
Julie P. Posted 7 months ago
Overall,I liked the scene but the music didn't seem to match what I was seeing. I liked reading the piece of script as well.
June B. Posted 7 months ago
I like these characters. The music seems to be transitioning into what will be a flashback or the next scene between these two. Makes me want to see more! I too like the inclusion of the script. Well done.
Kerry M. Posted 7 months ago
the mix of the music was kind of confusing for me - I think it could have be blended better. Liked the script above the scene that was a ncie touch.
Shannon M. Posted 7 months ago
Classic, and that's totally the guy from Harold and kumar that has the weed! Nice job, good luck
Jane H. Posted 7 months ago
This is the same scene as your pitch video isn't it? I was really hoping that you would should us something different as I like the premise of your movie.
Candice M. Posted 7 months ago
