I like your guys' sense of humour - very refreshing! I thought the sequence was well done and kept me interested.
David U. Posted 5 months ago
Nice clip! It's kinda goofy, and I like it! hope you guys can continue with this project even though your no longer in the competition.
Samson W. Posted 6 months ago
Kind of a silly project but fun nonetheless. Not sure what you guys would do with all of the money but good luck!
LIs D. Posted 6 months ago
Really enjoyed your speechless clip. No need for words to tell this story. Well done and good luck with this.
Anita N. Posted 6 months ago
Wow, I really like the custom music you guys have. Also love the pictures of our glorious Alberta winters..
Bren W. Posted 6 months ago
Wow, you can tell the music was designed for the sequence. That was practically a standalone short film.
Gael M. Posted 6 months ago
oh my god, I completely relate to that woman. This sequence just told the story of my life today. Ahh.!!!!!!
Paula M. Posted 6 months ago
Really like the scoring on this. I think just about anyone can relate to having to dig for keys or leaving things on your car.
Vance A. Posted 6 months ago
Great scoring Jared. Great foley and sound. The point of view of the women didn't seem to match the action. Well done, I look forward to more.

Lew D. Posted 6 months ago
Sadly, I don't have a facebook page or I would!
Becky D. Posted 6 months ago
Oh dear this young lady is having a bad time! Not sure where this is going but I am interested to find out.
TeamJessie P. Posted 6 months ago
Great insight, learning the back story behind films is educational and in this case also great fun :)
Alexandra S. Posted 6 months ago
The music was awesome and the script was so funny! My favourite Speechless video by far!
Joe M. Posted 6 months ago
Wonderful job.
David P. Posted 6 months ago
Jesse Luce rules!!
Anthony S. Posted 6 months ago
So many things that can make a person late. It always feels like you notice more the barriers that prevent you from being on time when you are running late. :S
Cat R. Posted 6 months ago
Great job. I bet you had a blast getting those traffic sounds. The music -- nice!
Jeannette L. Posted 6 months ago
Shane & Jesse had fun throwing cinder blocks at an old Neon... Gotta love it when your sound guy keeps old cars around for foley
jane D. Posted 6 months ago
awesome
Dave S. Posted 6 months ago
Way to go Shane and Jeannette, it's super cool to see what you guys have been up to this last while. Love the music.
R2 D. Posted 6 months ago
Filmmaking is a lot like this!!! well captured. I thought I may have seen some tears in there, good stuff!
Claudette B. Posted 6 months ago
Feel bad for her however I did not e joy this speechless video at all. No entertainment value at all
Derek C. Posted 7 months ago
Wow... great job guys! So proud of the YEG crews coming out of this contest. Lets hope the Edm film industry starts to take notice
Amanda D. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome! I totally feel for her!
charlie e. Posted 7 months ago
I was laughing all the way through. I've had so many days like this. Loved the pacing and the music fit perfectly.
marie d. Posted 7 months ago
enjoyed everything about this scene. the pacing was perfect; the music worked very well. she's steamin' - like that!
Emily M. Posted 7 months ago
I like the way you use pacing and halting to accentuate your ideas. The close-up of the house at the start was good too!
Jacki R. Posted 7 months ago
This is great! Love the music, backing into the car, running out of gas, and slamming on the breaks for the old fellow crossing the street. She's a disaster on wheels!
tess o. Posted 7 months ago
well done -- very enjoyable scene -- what an accident looking for a place to happen... and her day isn't over yet
Tyrath B. Posted 7 months ago
absolutely loved this! very real and very very funny. the music really helps move it along -- really fine work
Jeannette L. Posted 6 months ago
We were so happy to showcase Jared and Jesse's work. Such an amazing feeling to be a producer with such great talent surrounding you.
Knighten R. Posted 7 months ago
Totally what showing up to set late feels like.
Bari D. Posted 7 months ago
Great performance guys - the trouble times of making it throughout your day. The missions, accomplishments and trials - thank you
Edward Y. Posted 7 months ago
I like the concept of this a lot. Something about this reminds me of The Office for some reason. I look forward to seeing more.
Iris B. Posted 7 months ago
I don't know why she didn't answer the phone - it could've alleviated some of her anxiety. Next time maybe he should drive to her.
Rob M. Posted 7 months ago
One of those mornings where everything goes wrong & you just can't get a break. Did a great job of making me anxious & no dialogue was needed - I've been there, myself. Next I would expect a scene between her & the producer - a not-to-pleasant moment for her, I'd expect.
Allen Y. Posted 7 months ago
I liked this one a lot. It's rough around the edges but I thought it was very funny and original. Great job.
Gayle B. Posted 7 months ago
The pace didn't seem very rushed. It could be more frantic & chaotic. All in all I do really like everything I have seen so far.
Katie B. Posted 7 months ago
this looks pretty funny in general. its an original concept and its probably something i would watch. music was really good too
David B. Posted 7 months ago
This is quirky! I love it. I love the score and really think it completely sets the mood. Looking forward to seeing a strong Edmonton team progress!!
Jeevin J. Posted 7 months ago
The score was pretty good. Not sure about some of the sound effects, like the car screech, but overall nice. And if the screech was real, well then isn't my face red!
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Since we were using my pristine 2002 Toyota Echo - we had to take it out on the back roads, get it up to 80km/hr and slam the breaks to get - we agree it's pathetic - an authentic car screech. Our producer questioned it too, but we're all about keeping it real!
patricia s. Posted 7 months ago
I like it ,but not sure of the acting
Jennifer P. Posted 7 months ago
You guys are too fun! What a day of crap! I enjoyed the slow walker through the intersection, I hate it when I'm in a hurry and that happens! Argh!
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
We have an entire scene with him - he's actually my 94 year old grandpa! Maybe we'll put it on our youtube channel... We'll keep you posted!
James M. Posted 7 months ago
Ha I know the feeling of waking up late and then nothing ever goes right while ur trying to get to your destination
Amanda R. Posted 7 months ago
I would love to see the next scene to build up to an even worse day for her. Awkward conversations, at the end of the day have a ticket on the car, script editing, left her wallet at the gas station. A real fail of a day!
Ashley H. Posted 7 months ago
I liked it, but struggle with the acting. Not sure if that's intentional or not...a la Andy from Parks and Rec?
Darby Q. Posted 7 months ago
Darby here, Yea son I be like dang that girl be fly when I was chill an chillan an den tha homie be all like, eeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyy that girl be lookin like someone I know. RESPECT! Darby out heennggahhhhh
Michelle G. Posted 7 months ago
cute - like that you did something different here - and out of the office board room. very comedic.
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Michelle - we're always aiming to improve so that's great feedback.
Dean M. Posted 7 months ago
Wow this girl is just terrible at life. Why did she need to reverse. Also this video makes me really hate winter.
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
I could give you the runaround and try to explain it away, but honestly: you got me. A very valid point, sir - hope it didn't get in the way of your enjoyment of the video!
Kris S. Posted 7 months ago
Ever had one of those mornings? Yeah, me too... although perhaps not quite so many things in one single morning. I liked the score!
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Kris - we're definitely very glad to have Jared on board as our composer!
Shane R. Posted 7 months ago
cool music. and i like her struggle. we've all had mornings like that. sometimes doing anything without a cup of coffee first is a terrrrrible idea
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Ha! Agreed! Definitely made sure I had mine before the shoot!
Natalia N. Posted 7 months ago
I don't if I liked the actual scene but I absolutely adored the score. Great composing.
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
We'll let Jared know - thanks!
Lucas P. Posted 7 months ago
I think the only reason I realized she was late is because of the text on the screen. I think with better acting or different music you would have been able to accomplish this without the text.
Leta P. Posted 7 months ago
Shane, You teach me so much about film every week. I love this competition! Keep up the fantastic work!! Go team autoscript!
John K. Posted 7 months ago
TEXT ON TEH SCREEN CHEETRAZ!
Nice sound design, seriously. Very clean and crisp, and we actually got a rough idea of what was going on :) Nice job
Jeannette L. Posted 7 months ago
For interest sake - Shane's 94 year old Grandpa puts in a cameo appearance in this week's video.
Colin T. Posted 7 months ago
I enjoyed the music and everything that happened in this clip, effectively told a story for me
Jeannette L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks!
Kate R. Posted 7 months ago
Fun scene. I think we have all had days like this. Poor girl. You got the point through. Good Luck with your project.
Ruxandra R. Posted 7 months ago
This is quite funny. The music reminds me of "My big fat Greek wedding". I love comedy and this film seems quite promising.
Nadine C. Posted 7 months ago
reminds me of my early 20's hahaha
John K. Posted 7 months ago
Nicely put together sequence. Good music and sound design. I thought it was a little rough around the edges.
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks John - our project is a mockumentary, so "rough around the edges" is the look we're going for!
Keri M. Posted 7 months ago
Interesting. Lots of good sound effects to make up for no dialogue. I like the music, it moved the scene along nicely.
Donal O. Posted 7 months ago
I love the bit where she hits the other car. But how she gets through that morning without taking? I'd have been screaming at everything in sight.
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Maya's definitely the strong silent type :)
Ryan B. Posted 7 months ago
I thought i was late, then i found out i was late, then everything kinda went to heck... i have been there, man..
Bari D. Posted 7 months ago
Looking good guys - can't wait to see so much more. Cinecoup is making us work for our points I see. It will be interesting to see whats next in this series.
Michael S. Posted 7 months ago
That was intriguing, I would definitely like to see what comes next. Great job working within the parameter of no dialogue.
Kim C. Posted 7 months ago
Like the pace of the action and how the music complements it. Identifying the time intervals is good too. Think anyone who is running late on wintery Canadian roads could relate to this one!
Cara S. Posted 7 months ago
This lady is very talented, she was quite funny. Curious as to how this fits into the overall story. I think I'd totally go see this one in the theatres.
Frederick D. Posted 7 months ago
I'll try to keep that lady as far as possible from me, as it seems obvious that sh.. happens when she is around...:) Otherwise, Thanks for telling me there's a line between Absurd and Epic!
Beverley R. Posted 7 months ago
I don't know about this one......it really doesn't tell me much about the movie and I don't know if I would really be interested in seeing it.......
William R. Posted 7 months ago
Haha this is very funny! if this is a part of the movie cant wait to see it and what happens before/after!
Derek H. Posted 7 months ago
Nice little video. The music is nicely done. Question though, who wakes her up in the morning? Someone knocks and then we never see that character again.
Jeannette L. Posted 7 months ago
AutoScript is a Mockumentary, so that is our lovely doc crew filming behind the scenes as our AutoScript Programer Maya and Director Neil try to film their movie against all odds...
Afzal H. Posted 7 months ago
This was funny! Very creative concept. I know that this is a mockumentary but you don't need to compromise on the quality of the visuals. Once you get the million bucks, I'm sure you can make it look much better :)
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
A million dollars will definitely help in many ways. We shot this video as close to being a real doc as possible - that meant no lights (except for a small one in the car), no grip, etc. We'll keep working to make the best material we can!
Afzal H. Posted 7 months ago
Great! The doc genre is evolving and the pre-conceived notions towards docs are fading away. Just look at one of the projects on this platform, "Sapiens: The Search for Wisdom." And you know, the word "documentary" means an artistic representation of the reality :) Looking forward to all the new stuff coming from your team. Best of luck!
Reginald R. Posted 7 months ago
Great comedic moments. Sound and effects were nice, video was a bit low quality. That's me being nit-picky, all in all nice work!
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the critique - we're working hard to define our style and make things work within the documentary idiom and feedback is alway welcome!
Lesley C. Posted 7 months ago
This gal is hilarious. Great reactions! I'm also impressed that you have used original music! Talented bunch!
Akash S. Posted 7 months ago
loved it!
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks! Really enjoyed yours as well!
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Funny! Great way to get around the no dialogue w/ the text.
Leslie P. Posted 7 months ago
The music definitely adds a little "something" to this that you wouldn't get without it. Well done! ... this also makes me wish for spring to finally show up. Darn snow!
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Agreed - the start of the shoot was especially cold!
Amanda C. Posted 7 months ago
It was ok - Good luck guys
patricia s. Posted 7 months ago
the music is great, and the actress did a very good job
Marc D. Posted 7 months ago
The music is great, but the location sound takes away from it. I don't like that you can hear the fuzzy background noise that camera is picking up.
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Interesting...we didn't use any sound at all from the camera - every last bit of it was recorded and added in afterwards. I'm assuming that you found the ambient sound too loud?
Skye B. Posted 7 months ago
Love the realism here. Talk about raw emotion. Have to say, a very good - heck, excellent "speechless" mission!
Jay R. Posted 7 months ago
Hilarious! The custom music and sound really create a wonderful comedic atmosphere. The actress did a fantastic job too. Her facial expressions and reactions really made the short awesome for me.
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Great! Glad you liked it!
Betty H. Posted 7 months ago
Scripts made the traditional way, by human writers, encounter obstructions from every which way. That's why a computer generated script is the the preferred method of providing the foundation for entertaining the masses. (not!)
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
:)
Ruth R. Posted 7 months ago
reminds me of most of my mornings - very relatable
Stephanie M. Posted 7 months ago
This looked very funny and interesting. I could relate to the aspect of things not going your way and everything moving at snail's pace when you have to do something or be somewhere right away. Great job! Can't wait to see more.
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Stephanie! There's more coming!
Timothy C. Posted 7 months ago
You guys have some great humour and seem to know what you're doing when it comes to beating/pacing. Good to see a tiny bit of Edmonton as well! :)
Mateusz M. Posted 7 months ago
hahaha it makes me laugh! I would like to know more about this story. The music matched the scenes perfectly and I didn't want it to end.
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
The story of the main film is pretty big - lots of ideas about art and self-expression. This short film here is just one day where Maya - our main character - has rewrites to deliver to set but (obviously) has slept in. We kept this really simple because we wanted to focus solely on the soundscape. Glad you enjoyed it!
Dan M. Posted 7 months ago
Really funny. You can tell when someone is a really good comedic actor when they dont need to say anything to make you laugh
Deadline M. Posted 7 months ago
Haha this one made me laugh out loud! Great job!
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it!
June B. Posted 7 months ago
I like the mix here, with the ambient sound more prominent. It's her perspective. Well put together. We all know the feeling of running late. I think I would have given up after the break down! Great performance.
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks June! We worked really hard to make sure the music and sound were just right, so it's nice to hear that you like it!
Will B. Posted 7 months ago
I think this video turned out well. It's fun light, so I didn't want it to end. I could have watched it go on for another minute or so easily. I think the underscore could have been a little louder, or the sound effects a little softer, because it gives a nice energy to the scene.
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Will - we did briefly consider raising the music just a touch, but decided against it because we thought it would wind up eclipsing some of the sfx that helped play up a bit of the comedy. Also: the first edit clocked in at a pretty breezy 1:58, but we were limited to a 90 second edit, so this version moves along really quick!
Julie P. Posted 7 months ago
This was very cute. The music matched the scenes perfectly and I laughed out loud a few times because haven't we all had days like that? :)
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
I'll let our composer know - thanks for the props!
Sheleena B. Posted 7 months ago
The documentary style served you guys well here. I like this one the best out of your missions so far. Good job!
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks! We really wanted the style of the video to resemble the actual film - glad the doc-style stood out to you!
Leta P. Posted 7 months ago
