3 was my favourite, but I had to choose B - the three are about equal.

We had such a hard time deciding which to post - we begged, but were only allowed to submit 2 for voting. We actually solicited public opinions at the YEG Pop Culture fair the Sunday we had to submit.

I liked C best too bad I couldn't vote for it next best was A
Jeannette L. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks! We'll count that as a C vote!

I liked a and C, and went with A
Jacki R. Posted 7 months ago
It was between A and C, but I went with A. That struggle between good and evil, plus it reminds me of my tattoos, Evil Homer Simpson on my left shoulder, and Angel Bart on my right, lol!
Jeannette L. Posted 6 months ago
it's true. H vs. B is the epic battle of good and evil.

Unfortunately, per layout of this page, I picked the second poster. Had I know there was a third option, I would have picked it. Sorry! :^)

I like A the little devil computer is funny
Nicholas C. Posted 7 months ago
I really like the third version the best. The idea I get from the first two is that the computer is the main character. The computer is the reason for the movie, but the people who have to deal with it make the real story. Also with the third poster I almost feel like not showing the computer on the poster gives it even more character in a way because it's almost a mystery as to what it really is or does (I would even go as far as to replace the top middle picture with one that doesn't include a computer at all). Lastly, it is a mockumentary and I think the third poster fits that style of film a lot better considering the other two are so animated; it really presents the outrageous "realism" of it if you ask me. Now if I could just find a way to vote for the third one we'd be in business...

Your comments are noted! No need to vote. Thanks for taking time to write your thoughts - really appreciated!
Vivian M. Posted 7 months ago
A would be stickier for me.
Betty H. Posted 7 months ago
It has to be B; "screenplay by computer" is needed for this mocumentary. It gives the viewing public a hint as to what the project is all about.
Jaimie C. Posted 7 months ago
I like #3 the best because I think it conveys what your movie is about the best. When I look at #3 I get what the style, genre & basic concept of Autoscript is. The other ones are cute but I don't feel it says much about the film itself and don't pull me in as a potential viewer. If I saw #3 on a dvd case I would pick it up, turn it over, read the back and rent it - or in today's terms, I'd click on it on Netflix/itunes, read the synopsis and watch it!

I think indie films do themselves a disservice when they post pictures/names of actors (even directors, writers) that don't have any sort of familiarity or big credits to back em up. I think you need to find the core image that sells your concept.
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
That's a really valid point - thanks for the critique. We're always trying to improve, so we'll take that into account for future revisions.
Jaimie C. Posted 7 months ago
Personally I would disagree somewhat with the whole not showing pictures of actors who aren't known. As a person who watches indie films, I go in knowing that I probably will not have heard of any of the actors and that's okay by me. If the concept conveyed in the poster is something I think will interest me, I'll watch it no matter who is in it. And yes there are some indie films I will watch because a known actor is in them but, just saying that it isn't a prerequisite for me. But that's just me.
Michelle G. Posted 7 months ago
I actually don't really like either, but I just dislike number 1 the least. does that make sense?
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Gotcha...any thoughts on what you'd like to see?
Michelle G. Posted 7 months ago
I like Poster Version 3 better, but if you're going to stick with the computer, I'd go with a picture of a real commodore 64 kind of computer and an old printer - the kind that you had to feed the paper through the holes and a messy desk - with probably dark green undertones as the backdrop. Just a thought.

Really love the little computer drawing on the first one. Oh and the braces around "Auto Script". High five!
Kaitlyn M. Posted 7 months ago
Poster A is slightly more visually captivating, but poster B takes it for me. I really love the entire vibe it has - definitely more fitting to your trailer. Plus the tagline is perfect.
Afzal H. Posted 7 months ago
Great use of negative space in Poster A.
Brad D. Posted 7 months ago
I like A with some tweaks. Reminds me a bit of the poster for The Corporation http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/43/Movie_poster_the_corporation.jpg/220px-Movie_poster_the_corporation.jpg
(not a bad thing). I would make the computer bigger and take the actors names off the side. Unless your actors are "bankable" it doesn't do anything to put "butts in seats". Otherwise, nice work. (motion designer on Long Distance)
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the thorough analysis. The original inspiration for the poster was actually "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" but I can see the similarities to The Corporation, too. As for actors' names...you have a valid point. If all goes according to plan, though, we'll definitely have a very bankable name to put there.

Poster B is a more inclusive poster.
June B. Posted 7 months ago
Vers 3!! But, #2 is funnier so that one gets my vote.
Natalia N. Posted 7 months ago
