This didn't demonstrate how you guys operate on a low budget at all. Better luck on the next missions.

It's a film within a film within a film within a film.
Vance A. Posted 6 months ago
This has so many levels it's a frickn' Condominium.
TeamJessie P. Posted 6 months ago
Hilarious- great job :)
Joe M. Posted 6 months ago
Ha! Brilliant!
Terrence A. Posted 6 months ago
awesome
jane D. Posted 6 months ago
love the clip
Bob L. Posted 6 months ago
Either auto script is confused on where it is going with the story ... Or maybe there really is an Autoscript and this is just its ploy at world domination? In continence indeed.
Rob B. Posted 6 months ago
Creative little clip, keeps you wondering what's going on.
Jay R. Posted 6 months ago
AutoScript Inception? Fun idea, but I'm not sure I caught what the Cheap Tricks were. Loved the camera on camera on camera pull backs though.
Jeannette L. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Jay! The monitors were composites with the green screen being the main visual effect. Shot the last segment on an iphone - cheap, but not a trick. Cinecoup had also asked us to show what resources we had access to, so the final shot gives a glimpse of the type of gear at our fingertips!
Jay R. Posted 6 months ago
Couldn't even tell it was an iPhone. Thats pretty awesome! Thanks for the reply.
Mike R. Posted 7 months ago
Haha very nice
Carleigh B. Posted 7 months ago
Pretty nifty trick!
Paula M. Posted 7 months ago
This looks funny!
Kenya H. Posted 7 months ago
Wow, neat to see this from your perspective!
Ashley H. Posted 7 months ago
This was very slick. Someone said something about it not being fluid - I don't care. I liked it the way it was - sold the indie part of it for me.
Lauren M. Posted 7 months ago
Paris!
John K. Posted 7 months ago
Nice job guys :) creative and well shot :)
Colin T. Posted 7 months ago
haha i really liked this.
Alex K. Posted 7 months ago
I think you did a great job with the entire concept, I'd like to see you push it to it's limit a bit more too! Great job team, keep going!
Candice M. Posted 7 months ago
If the studio was set up in a circluar fashion, the camera movements might be more fluid. Not sure this was really a 'cheat' method. Or behind the scenes look at a trick
Jeannette L. Posted 6 months ago
Great idea about the circular shot set-up. Unfortunately we were using a cheap trick - BYOS (Build your own studio) and the room was also partially set up for FAVA Fest - a local 3D expo, so we couldn't shoot in two and a half directions!

Great idea for next time!
Cruella D. Posted 7 months ago
Is it real or isn't it. Cute couple and interesting concept. How many layers of reality are there?? Is the baby real?? LOL !!
Jeannette L. Posted 6 months ago
The baby was real - I was holding her so her mom could be using the Arri S3 in the shot. Shane just went with it. Little Alice also had a cameo in our first pitch video!
Debbie M. Posted 7 months ago
nice!
Deborah P. Posted 7 months ago
Loving it!

Lesley C. Posted 7 months ago
I like the layers! And the acting. Especially that dreamboat Jamie C.
Kris J. Posted 7 months ago
Great concept! I like the whole "movie within a movie" reminds me of something out of inception. Its also my worst nightmare, not knowing which scene is reality.. WHEN WILL IT END?! Holy crap I think I smoked too much Great job guys! Good Luck!
Alan J. Posted 7 months ago
Love the format, perfect fit for a lower budget.
Michelle G. Posted 7 months ago
well shot.
Elle B. Posted 7 months ago
Nice
Andrea K. Posted 7 months ago
You went to Paris? Amazing! It's cheaper there? ;)
Jennifer E. Posted 7 months ago
I guess I don't know enough about film-making to understand how this is a cheap trick.
Jeannette L. Posted 7 months ago
We'll explain better next time! We used a green screen and everything on a monitor/screen was done with visual effects.
Marty H. Posted 7 months ago
Not bad
William R. Posted 7 months ago
i see what you did there... i see it
Isabelle G. Posted 7 months ago
interesting video
Joyce S. Posted 7 months ago
great use of green screen.would have liked to have heard about how you are optimizing reasources.
Jeannette L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Joyce - glad you asked! Besides being able to do most of the above the line work ourselves, we're part of a film co-op in Edmonton called FAVA and have access to a lot of equipment either at low or no cost. Our FAVA bucks allow us to rent anything that Ken doesn't already own at 50% off their already reasonable prices. Check out their fantastic equipment list http://fava.ca/30th/attachments/article/68/FAVA%20Equipment%20List%20Print_JAN_2013_FINAL.pdf

Funny trailer and I like your Cheap Tricks video, too. Will be interesting to see how this fleshes out into a feature.
Doug M. Posted 7 months ago
good work
Brendan R. Posted 7 months ago
Bwahaha, I love the continual pulling back of the perspective to show the various meta-layers present in the making of this, an amusing look into what it's like to make a movie about making a movie.
Junior F. Posted 7 months ago
I love the cat Shane... hahah
charlie e. Posted 7 months ago
Super clever. I feel like I was just Incepted, which is totally a word now.
Stuart P. Posted 7 months ago
Its cool how you make it look like its a real set but its in reality not.
John E. Posted 7 months ago
Very cool! Really did feel super smooth. :)
Romano M. Posted 7 months ago
Great work!
Kris S. Posted 7 months ago
Is this the top layer?
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Not quite sure which layer is the "this" you're referring to, but it goes like this: AutoScript is a mockumentary about a group of people trying to make a film. The first shot of this mission video is that film. The second shot is the mockumentary itself - this is the actual film that we are trying to make. The third shot is intended to be reality - that bald dude who can't act is me. The very last shot is just another layer that we put in there for fun :)
Mohamad M. Posted 7 months ago
hahaha, cool. nicely done.
Ewa B. Posted 7 months ago
