A good script is essential!!!! Small cast and minimal locations are also important. Are you shooting in front of a green screen?
Keri M. Posted 5 months ago
script is important as long as you keep it simple
Marly V. Posted 5 months ago
True. Script is very important.
pam v. Posted 5 months ago
Impressive. You guys know your stuff.
Lisa B. Posted 5 months ago
The effect you used for "Life Gives You Lemons" is really cool. Very impressive.
FilmFan F. Posted 6 months ago
BUT I didn't see any Cheap Tricks ???
Lee C. Posted 6 months ago
There is nothing cheap about us... Serious script development trumps all cheap tricks... oh and the mission video did highlight some special effects talent that showcases how we can seamlessly integrate live action and CG. Guess you missed that... Watch again!
Mike K. Posted 6 months ago
Nice.
jane D. Posted 6 months ago
very good
Lee C. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Jane! :)
Jamie H. Posted 7 months ago
I feel angry.
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Why on Earth are you angry?
Mila R. Posted 7 months ago
Intrigued to see more...
Jon K. Posted 7 months ago
Look forward to seeing more of the script. Wise words on the importance of story.
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
YES!!! That's what we have been saying all along! The script. The script. the script... :)
Chantie D. Posted 7 months ago
is that all?
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
See my reply to Mandi below... Excited to share the screenplay as that's more important than any trick.
Mandi B. Posted 7 months ago
Was hoping to see more.
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Would love to have shown more... Lucky to get this mission done on time after catastrophic laptop failure! :)
Sandra M. Posted 7 months ago
Great job. Looking forward to seeing more.
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Cheers! :)
Mike P. Posted 7 months ago
I felt like you were a bit repetitive.
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Yep! We are driving home a few key points over and over because there's this odd perception that we need to go out and prove it with million dollar mission videos. I agree, our videos aren't as sexy as other projects. We hammer home that the screenplay is NUMBER ONE. I am busy working on a film in Australia at the moment... I don't have time to blow you away with little videos about film tricks. I can't wait to share the screenplay! That's what it's ALL about! :)
John P. Posted 7 months ago
Lee Chamber's ..........honest and professional....there should be no question who the winner is....
Tara D. Posted 7 months ago
Solid and professional!
Branden S. Posted 7 months ago
Good job everyone. Good cheap tricks video. Nice to see everyone putting so much into these projects!
John P. Posted 7 months ago
Great jobs guys, the broadcasting students are behind ya 100%
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Woo Hoo Thanks a bunch! :)
Natalia N. Posted 7 months ago
Sorry to hear you guys had lap top failure but you seemed to have handled it great. Smart thinking on designing the script around minimal locations and cast because that will definitely cut costs tremendously.
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks! I appreciate the comments... :)
Jeff M. Posted 7 months ago
good job
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Jeff! :)
Darcy R. Posted 7 months ago
Cool, handled it well!
Kate R. Posted 7 months ago
Great Job
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for your support! :)
Alexei F. Posted 7 months ago
You have a very good point about script development - it's the main key to a successful film.
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Woo Hoo! I like you! You are SMART! :)
Taylor B. Posted 7 months ago
Very cool
Stephanie K. Posted 7 months ago
Don't skimp too much on film quality, it'll bite you in the end
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Put the money on the screen I say! Cheers!
Marcel J. Posted 7 months ago
You should film in HD! Don't get cheep with footage quality.
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Are talking about when we film the movie or the missions? I am Associate Producing on a movie in Australia at the moment and can only film missions on my iPhone... way too busy to do more than that! As for The Pineville Heist: Arri Alexa (they used it to shoot the last Bond film)
Fen N. Posted 7 months ago
It doesn't sound like this contest is your number 1 priority, you list your achievements and awards but I think it's important to remember that others on this site who have nailed their missions and out a great deal of time into them are also people who are working for a living on other projects and have won awards as well... Big ones like oscars... There is a lot of talent on this site, good luck, may the overall best films win based on screenplay, camera techniques, direction, sound cinematography etc
Kev M. Posted 7 months ago
awesome
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
To answer Nathan G and Amanda C. who didn’t think we put any effort into our trailer. ANSWER: Did you know that the 30 second teaser within our launch video is almost entirely computer generated. We spent 3 months making it. I’d call that tremendous effort.
Wendi N. Posted 7 months ago
Love the ideas and this project. Few locations...few $'s
Marian V. Posted 7 months ago
neat idea
Carmen H. Posted 7 months ago
cool
Wilma S. Posted 7 months ago
great!
Luna j. Posted 7 months ago
go pineville !!
Michelle S. Posted 7 months ago
great ! cant wait to see it :D
Avery L. Posted 7 months ago
Didn't see any trick there...
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Check out some of my posts here as I provide answers to this quite clearly. I stand by this mission... Out of all the entries I truly think we are pretty bold and brave pushing script development, solid actors and minimal locations as a trick.
Nicholas G. Posted 7 months ago
I don't think this satisfies the mission requirements. Good luck anyway!
Charlie S. Posted 7 months ago
Didn't get a lot of tricks there.
Benjamin T. Posted 7 months ago
I like the narrative, but where are teh Skills to pay the bills?
Parker L. Posted 7 months ago
Good story, but missing the tricks.
Darren p. Posted 7 months ago
interesting
Sarah P. Posted 7 months ago
Yeah it doesn't seem like the film would need a lot of money - don't see any evidence of this fantastic acting though.
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Well of course not... we haven't made the film yet!
Check out my short 'When Life Gives You Lemons' on YouTube... Worked with a Hollywood actor and three kids new to film. It was magical! :)
Lee L. Posted 7 months ago
hmmmmmm...
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
QUESTION: Helen M. wonders why we haven't found traditional funding if our script is so good.
ANSWER: Funding million dollar + movies is never easy for first time feature film directors. Most films take years to get made. For example, 'Flight' with Denzel Washington took 11 years! Takes a lot of rejection to get to the money...
Thanks for the question Helen! :)
Eric R. Posted 7 months ago
Great Job Lee. This project is going to be Awesome.
Josh W. Posted 7 months ago
Cool idea with the 'car rig'
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
I knew this mission was gonna ruffle some feathers. Many of you are expecting flashy stuff... sorry to disappoint. Personally, I am tired of poorly written films that hide behind explosions and effects. As shown we plan to use effects that aren't noticeable... to help tell the story. Investment in plot and character development is our top priority and trumps any 'cool home-made steady cam trick or exploding head effects'. Ask yourself this... as a viewer do you want to be engaged in the story and feel the thrill ride like the characters in the movie? Or do you just want to watch a couple of cool scenes with effects?
Wendi N. Posted 7 months ago
Lee as I look at other projects I see a lot of this same concept. Not sure why people like it for one project and not another! Can't wait to see what is next for this project.
Andrew M. Posted 7 months ago
Didn't see any trick there...
Leah N. Posted 7 months ago
I don't think this satisfies the mission requirements. Good luck anyway!
Maya F. Posted 7 months ago
Didn't get a lot of tricks there.
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
We aren't about tricks... we are about solid story telling. Everyone on here seems to want to see how we can do low-budget explosions and such. That's easy... the trick is can you attract talent with your script and direct them!
Lauren C. Posted 7 months ago
I like the narrative, but where are teh Skills to pay the bills?
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Where are the skills to pay the bills? Um... I am confused. I fooled people in Los Angeles with the effects... it got 46 festival selections and 14 awards & nominations. Is that not enough? PS Thanks for the kind words about the narrative :)
Grace P. Posted 7 months ago
Good story, but missing the tricks.
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Olivia H: What did you expect? Each project has their own methods. For us a solid script, small, talented cast and minimal locations are how we planned it.
Tyler S: Would love to have added more B-roll but as I stated, I had laptop failure and lost lots of files. I am working on a movie in Australia at the moment and my back up is in Canada. Very frustrating... but at least I hit the deadline even if the mission isn't sexy looking.
Jessica L: See my response to Tyler... did the best I could this week! :)
Melissa C. Posted 7 months ago
Saving money on production with ONLY using a few locations is Awesome. And emphasis on the story is key...
Olivia H. Posted 7 months ago
Did not see what I expected
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
What did you expect?
Tyler S. Posted 7 months ago
this video could use some b-roll to add interest
Marcelo P. Posted 7 months ago
Camera work good.
Jessica L. Posted 7 months ago
Nice, interesting. But you should consider showing a couple of the locations next time.
Zoe T. Posted 7 months ago
Good narrative, but like everyone says - no tricks.
Lily J. Posted 7 months ago
The story is definitely there - but missing the tricks.
Ella H. Posted 7 months ago
Didn't find what I came looking for, but good luck.
Hailey H. Posted 7 months ago
Doesn't solve the mission requirements...
Emily M. Posted 7 months ago
Good story, but missing the tricks.
Melissa C. Posted 7 months ago
Looking forward to seeing g more as well! So excited to see this project come together!!
Sue T. Posted 7 months ago
Looking forward to seeing more! :)
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Wait till you see our storyboard presentation! :)
Michelle R. Posted 7 months ago
Woot! Woot!
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Michelle! :)
Sam C. Posted 7 months ago
Good on narration - but didn't see the production challenge. Good luck though!
Amy S. Posted 7 months ago
Not sure you really addressed the challenge specifically but I enjoyed listening to your approach nonetheless. Good luck.
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Amy! I knew this mission was gonna cause a stir.
Grim D. Posted 7 months ago
That's a good narrative trick - not sure how it would translate into a production trick though!
Lee C. Posted 7 months ago
We aren't a magic show... smart writing, clever casting and designed for a small budget. To me that is the best trick yet! I guess most people were expecting a cool explosion using flour and a cardboard tube. I think our team stands out because of our approach.
