I liked the totally different aesthetics (and implied cultural differences) shown by the choices in makeup design. The airbrushing is lush, and the hand-painted work seems more chaotic and primitive.

Thanks David, yes the maverics live in the rough outside the city in the forest, whereas the Queen and her court live a lavish luxury in the palace of the city :)

yeah, this was a conscious choice. You gotta pick your battles when you have a $500 budget, getting a location sound person to contribute in our community is difficult.

the costumes/props are based on found objects for the maverics, lots of belts and gadgets. The guns are spray painted toy waterguns and a few airsoft guns. Our cast all provided their own wardrobe and we keep set dec minimal, only introducing elements that are necessary.

Karl Schoepp did the lighting on the palace and the dark battle sequence. He likes noir lighting, uses hard contrasty lighting in some scenes. He's lights very creatively and he keeps changing things past the point anybody else on set can see a difference, he has a sharp eye!
