While it seems like efficient filming to suite the theme, I don't see it as a cheap trick. That would be having the bridge collapse behind them as they walk away, at an expense of less that $100. It could be done.

cool
Bruiser F. Posted 6 months ago
not sure on this
Melissa S. Posted 6 months ago
it is ok
Jes H. Posted 6 months ago
love how thoughtful you were with your cheap trick ideas!!

Thanks!

Ally P. Posted 7 months ago
Oh man! I didn't know Josh Allen was part of this project! I'm quitting my team and joining yours - that's allowed right?
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Of course!
Ella P. Posted 7 months ago
It is very interesting to see the cinematic way of portraying a love scene. Nice explanation.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Love is ALWAYS cinematic. Soft and long gazes.
Foxbase A. Posted 7 months ago
I like it
Jolene K. Posted 7 months ago
what they say is good but in reviewing the trailer hard to grasp all that is being said
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
grasp as in actually hear? Did you watch this? http://youtu.be/NbZDGHH0ixw
Darcy R. Posted 7 months ago
Really good video, clear and informative!
Dean M. Posted 7 months ago
cool
Andréa V. Posted 7 months ago
Artsy:)
Andrea B. Posted 7 months ago
Nice
Peter C. Posted 7 months ago
No matter the budget... you always bring big budget sensibility. Care, Care and Care is the way to go. Always shoot for the best. Your explanation in this mission video, the narration and quality of this 2 min short is one of the best i have seen here. Great work, keep it up!
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, so much Peter.
Michelle E. Posted 7 months ago
Thoughtful direction.
Andrew S. Posted 7 months ago
Looking forward to see this play out. Story is everything. You're right to let the actors play this out and to simply put the camera there.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Can't wait to make this film and show you everything in my head :)
Sarah M. Posted 7 months ago
Good job.
Cameron W. Posted 7 months ago
interesting

Natalia N. Posted 7 months ago
likewise
Ella P. Posted 7 months ago
I like this story. It is true that long scenes are nicer and require more talent from the actors. I like when films are shot that way. I am sure I will like yours.
Wendy B. Posted 7 months ago
Some nice shots
Mack t. Posted 7 months ago
not bad
Patrick C. Posted 7 months ago
I like the long scene approach.
Evelyn G. Posted 7 months ago
Is the film going to b/w?
Rachel B. Posted 7 months ago
Good explanation - bump fitting the holes!
Michaela B. Posted 7 months ago
Is that bride real or vfx?
Riley T. Posted 7 months ago
Ha ha - liked the vegan and meat joke. ;-)
Brielle G. Posted 7 months ago
I liked the video - not a fan of the cuts though.
Patricia F. Posted 7 months ago
not for me

great job!

I like your description of the film making process, wide shots, letting the actors do their thing, dialogue driven.
Allen Y. Posted 7 months ago
great job
Grayson L. Posted 7 months ago
Is the film going to b/w?
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Anything can happen in post, but no. The film takes place in autumn and I really want to show the colours of Fall. The clip I used is a famous scene from Manhattan.
Nolan B. Posted 7 months ago
Good explanation - bump fitting the holes!
Alex D. Posted 7 months ago
Is that bride real or vfx?
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Actually the whole video in CGI.
Tyson C. Posted 7 months ago
Ha ha - liked the vegan and meat joke. ;-)
David L. Posted 7 months ago
I liked the video - not a fan of the cuts though.
Ashley T. Posted 7 months ago
keep up the good work !!
Ian T. Posted 7 months ago
i couldn't agree more
Melissa C. Posted 7 months ago
I agree with several other on the fact that I like the emphasis on the story
Madison G. Posted 7 months ago
Ha ha - I like the bump and hole bit! ;-)
Abigail B. Posted 7 months ago
I hope there's a market for this. It's quite slow.
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
I think there is a market for movies like this...Annie Hall, Before Sunrise, 500 Days of Summer, Garden State
Chloe C. Posted 7 months ago
The three cuts don't instill a lot of confidence guys...
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Really? Jump cuts in a doc style vid? Okay. Noted. Thanks for the feedback.
Kaitlyn R. Posted 7 months ago
Again - a great narrative perspective, but some more tricks would have been really nice
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
My whole philosophy about this film is that there are no tricks. I'm being transparent. I don't have need any special effects, special sound design, special cameras, special editing - because my actors, my script and my story are special enough.
Ava G. Posted 7 months ago
You spent a lot of time on the narrative, and personally I do like that. Good luck!
Ralph G. Posted 7 months ago
haha tricks
Sonia P. Posted 7 months ago
Always good to have a trick under your sleeve!
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
These are my tricks. My actors. Um. That came out wrong :) Dov - https://vimeo.com/51098763 Tommie - http://www.tommie-amberpirie.com/#!demo
Sukanya B. Posted 7 months ago
Where are the tricks? :O
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Tricks are for kids. My approach is simple storytelling, with an emphasis on story and camera work from a bygone era.
Natalia N. Posted 7 months ago
but in what ways were you guys resourceful when making the trailer? like were did you cut costs? location? post-production?
Lindsay F. Posted 7 months ago
I love the concept of letting the actors 'do their thing'.
Sandeep M. Posted 7 months ago
The bridge looks so cool!!
Alex L. Posted 7 months ago
Nice ideas, but in what ways are you being resourceful?
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
In lieu of talking about all our friends in the biz who do us favours, I approached this to talk about what the film will look like, which doesn't call for any production trickery. With only three main characters, great locations, a solid script and extremely experienced and talent actors, I'm not sure what else we need...other than a clear cinematic vision that transcends it from the "mumblecore" docu/verite approach so common with indie flix.
Skye B. Posted 7 months ago
Clever ideas! Like the edits.
Jacques P. Posted 7 months ago
Can I third the motion?
nithi k. Posted 7 months ago
Actually I appreciate the emphasis on story - a lot of projects are missing that!
Jacques M. Posted 7 months ago
Is the whole film in black and white?
shilpi s. Posted 7 months ago
I agree - it makes sense from a narrative POV but not from a production.
Michel P. Posted 7 months ago
Great narrative trick, but didn't see any production trick.
Charles B. Posted 7 months ago
Bump must fit the holes - lol!
Antoine C. Posted 7 months ago
What the guy before me said! :D
Louis L. Posted 7 months ago
Umm.. who's Matt?
Nidhi c. Posted 7 months ago
Three very visible cuts but well done otherwise!
François G. Posted 7 months ago
It's definitely different from the other projects - but do you think a cinematic project like this will have a commercial market?
Pierre G. Posted 7 months ago
Which bridge is that?
Joseph M. Posted 7 months ago
She's vegan and he loves meat - hahaha!
Gabriel B. Posted 7 months ago
I liked the video, but the visible cuts unfortunately does not build confidence about successful production tricks.
Marie A. Posted 7 months ago
Calm and composed - just like the footage. Cheers!
Akshay S. Posted 7 months ago
Is it just me or does the bump and holes analogy hold an inneundo somewhere there? ;-)
manoj p. Posted 7 months ago
I liked the focus on story. Like Hitchcok said, story, story, story!
Vaibhav R. Posted 7 months ago
Appreciate the explanation - but didn't really get how money would be saved on production...
Aakash s. Posted 7 months ago
Very slow and drawn out - hope you have a good market for this.
