Great project! very funny way of showing your work! I like it!
Priyatharshini R. Posted 5 months ago
Spectacular. You guys have an excellent project on your hands
Peggy S. Posted 5 months ago
The genius of this film is that it would be so affordable to make and yet so interesting and engaging
logan d. Posted 5 months ago
I know this movie will come out soon enough:)
Stephen N. Posted 5 months ago
I agree, this film is really interesting and the techniques you are employing are cool:)
Bart G. Posted 5 months ago
You guys have a great concept for a film. I'm very curious to see where this goes. Great understanding of the genre. I wish you guys were still in the competition.
Milan S. Posted 5 months ago
Very interesting voice over choice!
Rob E. Posted 5 months ago
That's hilarious. You guys are hilarious. Even just the computer graphic stuff showing the camera and light movement is super fantastic.
Donna R. Posted 5 months ago
Good job.
Mack B. Posted 5 months ago
Very amazing set up. Very creative and interesting.
Perry M. Posted 6 months ago
Very good!
Mark C. Posted 6 months ago
nice 3d. good narrator voice. I like the extra tricky, double cheapy 3d diorama.
Ian G. Posted 6 months ago
nice tricks!
Martin V. Posted 6 months ago
It's okay. pretty cheesy.
Bren W. Posted 6 months ago
That voice feels like something out of a really cheesy TV commercial. I love it.
Bill A. Posted 6 months ago
Very cool motion graphics used to express your plan to shoot!
Kevin C. Posted 6 months ago
Clever. Good way to make talking head set-ups interesting!
Tawnya T. Posted 6 months ago
good try
Melissa H. Posted 6 months ago
I love the narrator's voice! The tricks are interesting. I am not in the industry so I am naive in the way of tricks. It was interesting to watch.
Angie Y. Posted 6 months ago
interesting
Ron K. Posted 6 months ago
This is a brilliant idea! Although I love the subject of this film, I would pay to watch it just for the approach to delivering the message. good luck!
Dug R. Posted 6 months ago
I like getting a look at the style in depth for how you'll make your film interesting. Cool.
Frank L. Posted 6 months ago
Would have never guessed some of these tricks even existed.
Timario M. Posted 6 months ago
I adore this concept. Money super saved since the only thing to worry about is a good setup and convincing dioramas. Oh yeah. And relevant experts ... None of this "down the rabbit hole" type of garbage. Good luck :)
jane D. Posted 6 months ago
very cool
Rob B. Posted 6 months ago
Interesting ... but what is the relevance to your movie?
Kathy S. Posted 7 months ago
I supposed this is a new concept that would work but how it make a great film is what I would question.
Greg S. Posted 7 months ago
Well done
Kevin S. Posted 7 months ago
Cool idea!
Dwayne M. Posted 7 months ago
I'd be really interested in seeing how this turns out.
Denise D. Posted 7 months ago
YOu are so right on the mark with your attempts to illiminate the talking head documentary. I want to see your movie not only because of the topic but because I want to see how you will present your material...which is very engaging so far!
Donald Y. Posted 7 months ago
By some standards, this is a cheap production - but by the standards of most short film makers, it requires a lot more than they can afford.
Peter B. Posted 7 months ago
Hey Don, with today's technology, you'd be surprised what can be achieved on a small budget:)
Holleay R. Posted 7 months ago
I like this. :) Good for you guys.
Colin T. Posted 7 months ago
love the presentation of this mission video
Emersen Z. Posted 7 months ago
I've always found his project to be quite fascinating. Great tips!
Jonathon C. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Emersen!
Super A. Posted 7 months ago
Interesting
Sarah L. Posted 7 months ago
Cool and quirky. interested in seeing more...thank you guys !!
Jonathan M. Posted 7 months ago
Did you use any stock footage in your film?
Jonathon C. Posted 7 months ago
Don't know yet as it's not finished. The plan however is to use some stylized live action or stock footage.
Brett T. Posted 7 months ago
Love the resulting effect. I noticed it in the first video I watched, but seeing the mechanics of it is super cool.
Jonathon C. Posted 7 months ago
that means a lot Brett thanks.
Jenna R. Posted 7 months ago
It's great you already own this set up.
Foxbase A. Posted 7 months ago
love it
Wesley S. Posted 7 months ago
Whew, glad you innovated on the green screen 4 camera setup
Aaron S. Posted 7 months ago
cool video
Natalie H. Posted 7 months ago
good job
Chris W. Posted 7 months ago
Too cheap
Colin W. Posted 7 months ago
good job
Richard B. Posted 7 months ago
Loving how you implemented the green screen without making it look awkward
Sean M. Posted 7 months ago
Very nice lighting in these interview scenes. The greenscreening during talking head sequences isn't revolutionary but it looks to be well done here.
Jonathon C. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Sean. It's somewhat difficult to show the full potential with only our one proof of concept diorama BUT we're really excited about how it'll all come together.
Dahae S. Posted 7 months ago
This would be worth it
Michael M. Posted 7 months ago
pompous
Tony M. Posted 7 months ago
I thought this was well done

Kevin F. Posted 7 months ago
Neat effect. Good luck guys
Rob L. Posted 7 months ago
Great concept
Andrew S. Posted 7 months ago
Excellent technique! The dioramas look great!
William B. Posted 7 months ago
It seems like all the backgrounds are the same, not really showcasing speakers any differently.
Jonathon C. Posted 7 months ago
Hi William. The final film will include many different backgrounds. Each subject will be composited into their own 3D diorama that dynamically changes according to what they are discussing. At this time we only have our proof of concept backplate, hence why they are all on the same one.
William R. Posted 7 months ago
ok... dont see ow its cheap
Todd M. Posted 7 months ago
Liking this concept more and more. Great thought put into making your film visually interesting.
Jonathon C. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Todd! It's important for us to make a documentary that can appeal to demographics outside the traditional documentary crowd.
Michael M. Posted 7 months ago
Very cool
Aaron M. Posted 7 months ago
impressive cgi
Amy-Leigh B. Posted 7 months ago
I like the new ideas your bringing to the genre
Suzanna B. Posted 7 months ago
That's exactly our goal, thank you!
justin H. Posted 7 months ago
Good balance of vfx and "real stuff"... kinda cool how you made those background scenes. Some of them look flawless, some of them look just "ok". overall pretty amazing though!
Sarah D. Posted 7 months ago
cool
David T. Posted 7 months ago
I like your new doc technique and applications of tech
Jim L. Posted 7 months ago
Like use of green screen
David A. Posted 7 months ago
This is pretty awesome! Well done guys!
Laurel L. Posted 7 months ago
Fantastic job. Great ideas and implementation.
Nicole L. Posted 7 months ago
Cool
Holly F. Posted 7 months ago

Laurie D. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome newscaster voice!
Vivian Z. Posted 7 months ago
Refreshing to bring your "Extra Tricky Double Cheapy 3D Dioramas" to the documentary genre.
Joyce S. Posted 7 months ago
one of the few cheap trick missions ive seen that showed how you can save money and utilize reasources.
Suzanna B. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome, that's exactly what we set out to show. Thanks!
Michael W. Posted 7 months ago
Cool concept!
Becky P. Posted 7 months ago
Very neat, I like the style behind the "talking head" with the background. The backgrounds are unique and beautiful.
Suzanna B. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you!
Ruxandra R. Posted 7 months ago
I like the "extra tricky double cheapy", funny. As for the rest of the film, it is an interesting way of telling the story. I had never thought of talking heads that way before.
Suzanna B. Posted 7 months ago
We hope to provide audiences with a new way of looking at and engaging with documentaries. Thanks for the support. Cheers!
Michelle S. Posted 7 months ago
interesting
Tom J. Posted 7 months ago
Nice, unique approach to add variety to the documentary. However, if you're factoring in your time to motion track, key, and matte paint everyone of your interviews, it definitely isn't cheap! But great work on the production value you're bringing to your documentary!
Bo H. Posted 7 months ago
very interesting
Wendy B. Posted 7 months ago
Interesting
patricia s. Posted 7 months ago

Grayson W. Posted 7 months ago

love this video~ !!!!! sooooo funny!!! hahaha And i love the SFX~~~
Patricia F. Posted 7 months ago
talking head, no, didn't they do that in ALien...
Jay R. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome - love your approach and your content.
Annabelle H. Posted 7 months ago
Impressive!
Betty K. Posted 7 months ago
Interesting technique! well done
Michelle G. Posted 7 months ago
well put together - funny and clever - but at the end of the day these are still talking heads which I find a little boring.
Peter B. Posted 7 months ago
The talking head is just one aspect of the documentary that we decided to discuss in this video...there will be other sequences....
Suzanna B. Posted 7 months ago
Hi Michelle, yes we'll be cutting to supporting footage, motion graphic sequences, and other goodies to ground the content. This cheap trick just focuses on our treatment of the talking head moments themselves. Thanks for the feedback!
Michelle H. Posted 7 months ago
Love the docu voice guy :)
Suzanna B. Posted 7 months ago
Haha, thanks!
Joan M. Posted 7 months ago
Cool

Cam L. Posted 7 months ago
Wow... really really impressive camera setup... some of the best interview footage i have seen! Amazing work guys!!
Jonathon C. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Cam. Appreciate the appreciation.
Janine F. Posted 7 months ago
Love it. (It was disturbing seeing the big X over some faces though, instead of over the background effect being referred to.)
Peter B. Posted 7 months ago
hmmm, interesting point. Didn't even come to mind. Ugh sometimes you can lose objectivity when you're entrenched in a project:(:P
Sheldon L. Posted 7 months ago
Hah the library wall...classic.
Jonathon C. Posted 7 months ago
Read those books!
Will B. Posted 7 months ago
Amazing video! I love the voice over, animation and general innovation of your project. Good luck guys!
Peter S. Posted 7 months ago
Looks great
Stuart P. Posted 7 months ago
I like the four camera set up and the well done green screen, but does not seem very cheap.
Peter B. Posted 7 months ago
It has all been budgeted. It's doable way below the 1million mark. That's the beauty of it! Looks expensive, but can be done for cheap:P
Jonathon C. Posted 7 months ago
Cost of studio rental is generally $1600.00 per day. Interviews are only a day and often only a couple hours with these intellects, so add all the interviews up and it's still incredibly cheap to shoot there vs. meeting them all over the world, trying to control lighting, finding good locations, sound, etc.
Joelle W. Posted 7 months ago
Love the way that you have incorporated effects into the film!!
Natalia N. Posted 7 months ago
Interesting/creative how you can change and alter the background but in the end they are still just people talking. Not sure if it would be a million dollar production.
Peter B. Posted 7 months ago
The people talking is just a part of the film. It will not be a film just intercutting between the talking heads. Voice over will help drive narrative and there will be many cutaway scenes...
Kevin C. Posted 7 months ago
awesome
Eric T. Posted 7 months ago
Great animation, but aren't digital effects fairly pricey?
Jonathon C. Posted 7 months ago
In the last decade VFX costs have plummeted primarily due to the performance increases of professional workstations and software advances. Our budget to complete all of the Matte paintings, compositing and motion graphic sequences is well below a million dollar budget.
Douglas H. Posted 7 months ago
Has this been entirely produced already?
Jonathon C. Posted 7 months ago
We have shot some of the interviews but there is still more interviews, a ton of locations shoots, animation work, writing, etc. to be done.
Jennifer M. Posted 7 months ago
Interesting....
Matt S. Posted 7 months ago
Your motion graphics team is top notch and I love your innovation.
Michael L. Posted 7 months ago
Great style to this video. Good job. Love the voice and comical feel.

Matt D. Posted 7 months ago
Great job.
Kris S. Posted 7 months ago
Very cool.
John K. Posted 7 months ago
nice video
Mohamad M. Posted 7 months ago
Love the self-referential humour. Struggling to see the narrative importance of such a complicated rig. I worry it might distract from the content of what your subjects are talking about. That is ultimately what should be most compelling. None the less, nice job guys!!
Suzanna B. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the feedback! We plan to use the environments as a backdrop that's relevant to each subject's discussion. They would slowly progress through time to suit their stories/narrative. But we'd also cut away to other footage, motion graphic sequences, and visuals that will help ground the content even more. Cheers!
Bob J. Posted 7 months ago
It's good that you can laugh at your own genre.
lana T. Posted 7 months ago
liked it a lot :)
Jermaine L. Posted 7 months ago

Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
Nicely done!
Bobbi H. Posted 7 months ago
I couldn't stop laughing, so true. Great way of overcoming the dreaded talking head!!!
Augustine J. Posted 7 months ago
Nice tricks!
Kassiy S. Posted 7 months ago
Aren't you afraid of it looking too green screened and fake in the background? Like, I can always tell when things have been CGI-d.
Suzanna B. Posted 7 months ago
Because this is based on concept work, it's not 100% final or polished. That would certainly be our biggest concern in the final stages of post-production! Matte paintings also have an amazing photo realistic look to them, that with a bit of extra blending work can become unnoticeable. Some subtle animations will be brought in as well to bring it to life a little more!
Ross W. Posted 7 months ago
Love your visuals
Ryan D. Posted 7 months ago

Jacky D. Posted 7 months ago
This is my favourite, loved the humour while showcasing something unique to your particular genre.
Marc S. Posted 7 months ago
I'm a big fan of emphasizing the positive so I would have rephrased the DSLR camera line but other wise cool

Catchy explanation. Extra cheapy Double Tricky. Definitely feel that this can take docs to a new level. I laughed when I saw the bookcase shot. It is so true.
Jonathon C. Posted 7 months ago
The bookcase is definitely the best. But... what does it mean?!?
Steven Y. Posted 7 months ago
That's hilarious.
