This is alright. Not the best one in the group but better than average. Keep up all the hard work team!
James D. Posted 5 months ago
It evoked the sense of loss I assume you were going for. Good job.
Seamus D. Posted 5 months ago
that sdtk really gives the story some heavy meaning. I like it.
Crystal V. Posted 5 months ago
I don't even like leaving my kids with a babysitter while I go to work, much less having to go to space! Feels!
Michelle C. Posted 5 months ago
This introduction to Mattie is fantastic.I love the interaction between her and her son. It's heart-wrenching.
Darren F. Posted 5 months ago
I really enjoyed how this evoked a good emotional response, she clearly misses her children and what might be grief is very palpable, at least that's what I thought of it.
Kurt P. Posted 5 months ago
Interesting! The greenscreening could use a tiny bit of work, but that would probably come with a proper budget. Good job using what you had!
Maureen M. Posted 5 months ago
Really great concept. The scenery is fantastic and I like the choice of music although it is a popular song.
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you, Maureen!
Steve R. Posted 5 months ago
Like it!
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Excellent to hear!
MAK138 K. Posted 5 months ago
that sdtk really gives the story some heavy meaning. I like it.
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks so much, that's fabulous!
Robyn R. Posted 5 months ago
I like you guys and I like your concept, although I am struggling to figure out exactly what your film is about...
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Hi Robyn - hopefully the trailer redux will give you more insights! :)
Nicolas O. Posted 5 months ago
Fantastic
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks so much!
Shelley B. Posted 5 months ago
Oh wow, I love this!
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Great to hear!
Rob H. Posted 5 months ago
Moonlight Sonata is probably my favourite Beethoven track, but has gotten to the point where its use has been associated with so many films. I don't know if that would be a great soundtrack to the final version. Though it does fit the mood well.
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks for the comment, Rob!
Glenn O. Posted 5 months ago
This is great because it really gives us a deeper look into character and more of a peek into what this story is really about.
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks, Glenn!
pam v. Posted 5 months ago
Very cool. And I am impressed with the technical ability and creativity. I really get a sense of her pain.
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Great comment, Pam. Thank you.
Lorelei B. Posted 5 months ago
This really is beautifully done.
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you, Lorelei! :)
Jeremy B. Posted 5 months ago
Very well done, and the shots of the Bedford basin were great.
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks, Jeremy. It's a beautiful spot, and I think Kris captured it so well. :)
LEE C. Posted 5 months ago
Well put together but needed a little more clarification with the lack of sound. Never presume that the audience knows what is going on
Sunny K. Posted 5 months ago
Wow - really great job on this. I got goosebumps watching it. The combo of the music, the silence and the element of being away from her child (maybe never to return)? Very sad and very compelling.
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you, Sunny! Beautiful comment. :)
Kendra S. Posted 5 months ago
This is a very powerful video, well done.
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks so much, Kendra!
Trevor D. Posted 5 months ago
really well done, andrea does a great job here.
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
I agree, she does. Thanks, Trevor. :)
Jen V. Posted 5 months ago
Beautifully done!
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you, Jen!
Jonathan C. Posted 5 months ago
Not bad! Good job with storytelling, although I found some parts a bit boring. Greenscreening needs a tiny bit of work, but that would probably come with a proper budget!
Michelle C. Posted 5 months ago
I love this introduction to Mattie.
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks, Michelle. Me too. I'm so drawn to hear character, even though I can't imagine what kind of choice she had to make. That would be so very hard!
Susan C. Posted 5 months ago
Love the interaction with Mattie!
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you, Susan! Me too. And I think Andrea has done a really great job at capturing her emotions here. Such a very tough choice she has had to make!
Kerri S. Posted 5 months ago
Interesting approach. Like the use of just using the visual approach with words. Still gives the impact and feeling that the Mother is going through, her thoughts, her feelings. Good job!
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you, Kerri! I totally agree. This was a really powerful mission for me to watch. I can't imagine what this mother is going through - having the opportunity she does to go to Mars and having to leave her son behind. Very, very tough!
Vivienne D. Posted 5 months ago
Speechless
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you, Vivienne! :)
Betty H. Posted 5 months ago
Red Horizon's Speechless mission is so well done, tell the story without words. The love of a mother for her child her job and possibly her demise. take a look here.
Heather G. Posted 5 months ago
That's exactly what I got from this mission!
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Awesome! :)
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Beautiful comment, Betty! Thank you.
Meaghan D. Posted 5 months ago
It's cool to get to see how you use the green screen to recreate space! So creative guys! Also love the music in the speechless video.
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you so much, Meaghan! :)
Lori T. Posted 5 months ago
This is very powerful. I love it and can't wait to see more of her. Now I see Marc's mother.
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Great comment, Lori. Thank you! :)
Andy M. Posted 5 months ago

Frances L. Posted 5 months ago
Awesome, thank you! :)
Jolene K. Posted 6 months ago
intriguing
Frances L. Posted 5 months ago

Heather G. Posted 6 months ago

Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Really thoughtful comment, Heather. Thanks! :)
Jolene K. Posted 6 months ago

Jessica L. Posted 6 months ago

Thanks, Roy! :)
Dan D. Posted 6 months ago
Great to see Atlantic Canadian footage.
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Totally! :)
Priyatharshini R. Posted 6 months ago
That's beautiful. Very cool that you were able to get those globules of red floating around. Haunting soundtrack too
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you so much! Great comment. :)
Roy I. Posted 6 months ago
i agree
Lily K. Posted 6 months ago
I love how you achieved the weightlessness - and it proves a nice counterpoint to the thoughts and memories here. A painful serenity.
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you, Lily! What a thoughtful comment.
Mackie B. Posted 6 months ago
I love this. I really enjoy the simplicity to the space ship shots. The simple key framing for turning the back ground and having the 3d red blobs really sell it for me. Good luck!
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you, Mackie! So glad you enjoyed it.
Meaghan D. Posted 6 months ago
Still great even without the use of words, very powerful. love that you can really tell how shes feeling. great connection.
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
So glad you liked it, Meaghan!
John M. Posted 6 months ago
This really shows what she is thinking - clearly what she has given up to be where she is now, and what it really worth it?
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Great comment, John. Thank you!
Mitch A. Posted 6 months ago
I like the way you flip back and forth to show two different times in her life. Makes you want to find out more! Great job.
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Great to hear, Mitch! Thank you.
Kyle F. Posted 6 months ago
I like how it starts and ends in the same place, putting the rest of her daily life in the middle makes you wonder about where she is and how she got there. Good job!
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you, Kyle!
Kelsie S. Posted 6 months ago
Love how the use of lighting and music set the tone. This has left me "speechless"! Great job team!
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Awesome! :)
Alex B. Posted 6 months ago
this is pretty sureal...i kinda wanna see where it all goes...i think this was well done and really leads you in to wanting to see more.
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you, Alex! Looking forward to showing you more.
Paula M. Posted 6 months ago
I like the use of the floating red spheres and the slow rotation of the camera. Good use of the standout colors on the shoes.
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you, Paula!
Mac L. Posted 6 months ago
Nice! Really stands out amongst the other entries. I like the take on the mission and the cinematography is excellent!
Kris B. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Mac! that is really nice to hear!
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks, Mac! :)
Joann K. Posted 6 months ago
I really wanted to love this being from Nova Scotia but not my favourite but I can understand d your work. Good try
Kris B. Posted 6 months ago
THANKS JOANN! Yeah, just because we are from NS and you are too... doesn't mean that we are your cup of tea. I totally get that! I love that you and so many other have taken this time to look at us, and OTHER Canadian filmmakers! NOW THAT is AMAZING! GO CANADIAN FILM!
Kiefer v. Posted 6 months ago
Quite an interesting film concept, the camera work was very original and unique, I'm looking forward to seeing more! Good luck!
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you, Kiefer. We're looking forward to more, too!
Rod M. Posted 6 months ago
No words AND very exciting music and motion. It really draws you in to the suspense and struggle that must be going on.
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Awesome, thanks Rod! :)
Cat R. Posted 6 months ago
I was really intrigued by your zero gravity scene. Very well done. And that note from your child, so so so sweet.... a forever keeper.
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks so much, Cat! :)
Tom J. Posted 6 months ago
I think that the memory aspect of the scene was very clear, that the astronaut was thinking of her past, but I must be honest (in this scene alone) I didn't catch the red balls were made of blood...
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Great comment, Tom. Appreciate the feedback...just imagine what we can do with an actual budget! :)
Steve W. Posted 7 months ago
This should be the teaser! The evolution of her emotions works beautifully. Blood in zero g! I love it.
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Awesome, thanks Steve! :)
Lindsay F. Posted 7 months ago
Great angles and such interesting choice of shots. The music really pulls you into the emotion of the movie!
Frances L. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks so much, Lindsay!
Nancy G. Posted 7 months ago
The cinematography and special effects are awesome. I am very intrigued by the location - very pretty. However, I am not sure what story this speechless scene is trying to say. The astronaut is reflecting on her life as she watches blood float in zero G. Is that it?
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
That could be it. Reflecting, remembering...in order to what? Is it to give her the strength to fight? Is it her last memories before she dies? We don't know (and really...I don't know). I can imagine either way. Thanks for weighing in, Nancy! :)
Parker W. Posted 7 months ago
Gorgeous visuals!!! The earth part could have been filmed better I think, but love the space sequence
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the feedback Parker! :)
Joe B. Posted 7 months ago
Very well done, the scenery is really cool until it widens up and you see all the trees cut down. It's very sad, but I would love to see the final product of this Doc.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
I think this comment may have been meant for another project. :)
Rob M. Posted 7 months ago
Beautifully shot, nice pace & just really well done in general. At the end it doesn't seem like she's giving up, it seems like she's gearing up. So I'd expect her to push off down the corridor to try to make it to the medical area & stitch up her wound.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you, Rob! Well thought comment...much appreciated! :)
Cari J. Posted 7 months ago
Well done, guys. I like the music choice.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Cari! :)
Matt C. Posted 7 months ago
Impressed by how ambitious this is and I like the pace of the video. Different to a lot of the other videos on here - good work
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Matt! :)
Jim T. Posted 7 months ago
Hadn't watched this one yet. Good stuff.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Glad you think so! :)
Del L. Posted 7 months ago
Love the music. The Nova Scotia shots are fantastic. Great progression of your story. Amazing work, as always.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you! We love those Nova Scotia shots, too. :)
Nadia V. Posted 7 months ago
i like the music choic but not fond of the video itself and not understanding the impact you are trying to convey
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the input, Nadia. We'll look forward to conveying more and more in weeks to come. :)
Jake S. Posted 7 months ago
Wow, you guys have something.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Jake! Awesome! :)
Lizzy T. Posted 7 months ago
Very powerful trailer. I like the connection between mother and son and then showing her to be what I'm guessing is fighting for her life. Great job.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you! :)
Nancy R. Posted 7 months ago
Interested to see where this story will go. Like the contrasting scenes of space and earth
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Nancy! :)
Sharon R. Posted 7 months ago
Like the musical choice - very powerful. What's with the google ads on your video?
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Glad you liked the music. As for the ads, I noticed them on some other videos, too. It has to do with the way Cinecoup has the youtube settings on their end. Nothing we can control. :)
Sue M. Posted 7 months ago
Loved the floating scene and how you accomplished it! Her flashback to home and her little boy really tugged at the heart strings!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome, Sue! That's what we were going for. :)
Shelley O. Posted 7 months ago
I'm drawn into the initial shot with the floating red orbs, and the music help set the mood, but for me the space scene and the home scenes are vastly different qualities.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much for the input, Shelley! Much appreciated. :)
Paulina J. Posted 7 months ago
You can really feel the emotion in this scene by the music and the intensity in the actress's eyes.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Paulina! Great to hear. :)
Charles T. Posted 7 months ago
I will have to watch the trailer to see if it helps this make a little more sense. Was a little hard to pull meaning out of this.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the input, Charles. We'll look forward to conveying more in weeks to come. :)
Akash S. Posted 7 months ago
Really enjoyed the visuals and pacing to this scene! Loved the use of music too :). Great job!! Also I am just a huge fan of your VFX so far!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome! Thanks Akash! :)
Donal O. Posted 7 months ago
My biggest concern with this movie is not any of your work. It's that I can't see how you can do it for a million bucks especially out in NS.
I have to keep a closer eye on your project now and give it another look.
Andrea M. Posted 7 months ago
Valid concern! Kris is writing the script and thinking of it as a $50K film with a budget for set and VFX. Part of the concept is that the characters are "trapped in a tin can" and therefore there won't be a lot of "lingering space" shots. Also, Kris has invented a really cool technology to deal with the gravity issue (stay tuned!). Filming in NS is a challenge since the last sound stage is closing this month :( "Haven" uses a converted ice rink as their sound stage! We're looking into other warehouses etc that we could use. There is a lot of technical talent out here, so we're not worried about that. And the great thing about Nova Scotians, they want to work and they're great to work with!
Donal O. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the feedback. I love how you handled the gravity shots and I'm pretty impressed. Would you consider filming it out of NS in a more film friendly province?
Aiden C. Posted 7 months ago
If you are successful the sound stage in Regina is basically empty with no tax credits out here so you could probably rent it for cheap.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Hi Donald - we've enjoyed connecting with you on Twitter as of late. As for your second question, I think we'll just have to see how it goes. As we get closer to that stage we'd certainly know more. :) Looking forward to showing you more in upcoming weeks.
Candy H. Posted 7 months ago
LOVED HOW YOU MADE THE CHARACTER FLOAT AROUND. It really looks like she was in 0 gravity. I continue to enjoy your work.
Fabien W. Posted 7 months ago
ALL CAPS
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Sometimes, all caps is just necessary, isn't it! :)
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Candy! :)
Sarah P. Posted 7 months ago
Very moody! She is so homesick, and who does not love a homesick astronaut. Nobody, that's who. She is going to get home!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome, Sarah! Thanks for the comment. :)
Donald Y. Posted 7 months ago
Very good. Liked the music.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Don!
Brendan M. Posted 7 months ago
Very interesting! I`d like to see more of this one for sure, the speechless mission has certainly been an interesting one
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Brendan! We're definitely excited to show you more. :)
Kris S. Posted 7 months ago
Very cool guys! This really makes me want to know more about this character - back story, etc. Can't wait to see it!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome, Kris. Thanks!
Linda A. Posted 7 months ago
very cool to see the process coming to life. LOVE the 'green screen', kudo's to special FX :) Can't wait to see what's next.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Linda. Us too! :)
Michael L. Posted 7 months ago
you guys did a really great job with this week's mission. One of the slickest. Hit all the right chords -- has emotional content, demonstrates your competence with special FX, very interesting cinematography... A+ -- [Mr. Tom]
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you, Michael. Really great compliment coming from you!
Andrea M. Posted 7 months ago
As a mother of a 2 yr old, I have trouble imagining what would drive me to leave home for 2 yrs. And once having made the choice, what would happen to my psyche if I thought I may never return?
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Oooh...that's the question indeed.
Colin T. Posted 7 months ago
I am getting more and more into your project with each video, very cool set you have here, i am impressed
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Colin! :)
Bella M. Posted 7 months ago
this is going to be so amazing ! I'd love to see it in full swing :)
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Yea! Us too! :)
Johnny A. Posted 7 months ago
Whoa, you guys have a serious setup. I added you to watchlist after last week's awesome poster. Keep it up.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Johnny!! Will do.:)
Ryan G. Posted 7 months ago
Upon reflection, whilst floating, she remembers the times she enjoyed in her life, as she stares at the giant balls of plasma that just escaped her midsection... Too much?
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Never too much! :)
mike e. Posted 7 months ago
apparently my first comment wasnt long enough. not surprising cause it was only 1 sentence. As a film noob, i think its neat seeing the actress there on her green mat...in "space"
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Okay - love the phrase "film noob" - that's a "noob" one for me. :)
Trevor G. Posted 7 months ago
Some cool visuals, good choice of music, nice Canada nod ;) but I can't help but feel lost when trying to figure out the story and just what exactly is happening here
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the comment, Trevor! Much appreciated. :)
mike e. Posted 7 months ago
certainly looks cold and lonely in that spaceship
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Indeed. :)
Patrick G. Posted 7 months ago
Great job guys - really liked the acting, the CGI, and the emotion portrayed here. I dig the Canada flag too!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome, thanks Patrick! :)
Kaitlyn M. Posted 7 months ago
Hm, interesting. Definitely very visually pleasing to watch!
I think you guys did an excellent job of setting up character with this, but I'm still struggling a bit to understand the story in this scene.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the comment, Kaitlyn. We love the feedback. :)
Joan L. Posted 7 months ago
Is this the classic dilemma for women, too many balls in the air? Maybe she's regreting leaving her son behind to be part of the mission?
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Could be, thanks for the comment Joan! :)
Rod M. Posted 7 months ago
wow! that is really riveting. what happens next? is she reliving her life at home while she is dying in space? what is happening?
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Hmmm...we'll have to see. :)
Ryan B. Posted 7 months ago
My last post, while capturing the spirit of myenthusiasm, did not meet the minimum character rule imposed by the estab...
Ryan B. Posted 7 months ago
Magnificent acting!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you for the comment! I'll pass it on. :)
Norma H. Posted 7 months ago
Your progress is awe inspiring. I love how you are teasing us just enough to keep us wanting more. I can't wait to see what will happen on the movie when you win the contest. And win you will.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome, Norma! Thank you. :)
Bari D. Posted 7 months ago
Just realized you need 100 characters - Looking good guys - can't wait to see so much more. Cinecoup is making us work for our points I see. It will be interesting to see what next with Red Horizon
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for working for the points, Bari! And for the support. :)
Bari D. Posted 7 months ago
Amazing stuff - can't wait to see more
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Yea! :)
Rose L. Posted 7 months ago
Great job guys! Nice to see Andrea in this. Great musical score as well. I was wondering how you'd pull off space and you made it work beautifully. Can't wait to see more. - #LDRfilm
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you, Rose! :)
Ramona B. Posted 7 months ago
Wow, extraordinary work team! Sad, beautiful and moving. Can't wait to see what Kris does with the 1 mil.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
We can't wait, too! :)
Laurel L. Posted 7 months ago
This was beautifully shot. The little guy is so sweet. What would this really be like for the character? It would be like being suspended in hell. Well conveyed.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Great comment, Laurel. Thank you! :)
Su P. Posted 7 months ago
you could really get the feeling of being lost. Her inner stuggle and love for her son. I really thought the floating red balls were a nice touch.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you! :)
Shawn B. Posted 7 months ago
The floating, lost feeling starts in the first few seconds and you've carried through nicely to the rest of the clip as you show her longing. I feel it captures the environment of your film. Well done.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Shawn. Much appreciated. :)
Dawn B. Posted 7 months ago
Certainly some breathtaking shots which the music complimented perfectly, but left me feeling a little lost about the connection.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the comment, Dawn. We'll keep giving you glimpses into more of the story, and hopefully connect more dots (without giving it away, of course). :)
Michael L. Posted 7 months ago
OMG! It's the Bedford Basin! The outdoor shots of the central character taking a run is beautifully shot. Scenes between the character and her son is poignant. Well done!!!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
YES, the Bedford Basin! Thank you for the great comment, Michael! :)
Dave R. Posted 7 months ago
This really highlights the distance the character feels between where she is now, and what she left behind. The Halifax scenes are also quite stunning.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Excellent, thanks Dave! :)
Lowell D. Posted 7 months ago
Really a strong example of your tone and style. Enjoyed watching it, and very ambitious. - Team WolfCop
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you, Lowell! :)
Alan N. Posted 7 months ago
this is a great speechless that gives you a pretty good idea what the movie is about. great music and great effects.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much, Alan! :)
Derick M. Posted 7 months ago
not bad...if i were to change something, i would match the color of the ships interior with her color balance. the ship was very blue but she was not. screams green screen to my eyes
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Good comment, Derick! Just imagine what an actual budget can do! :)
Rick J. Posted 7 months ago
Looks good! Great effects!! Wishing you guys the best! I'm watching you. See you guys in the Top 40! Good Luck
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome, Rick! See you in the top 40! :)
Laureen B. Posted 7 months ago
Switching back and forth between the ship and her home keeps the story interesting and engaging, well done.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you, Laureen! :)
Corey T. Posted 7 months ago
I liked to combination of the score and the shots. I think you nailed the mission.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome! Thanks, Corey! :)
Bryan E. Posted 7 months ago
Neat approach. Definitely love the flashbacks while she floats around in a desolate tomb in space. Creepy, passionate, powerful!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much, Bryan! I agree...creepy and powerful! :)
Jessica L. Posted 7 months ago
I love the background music, its really helps to tell the story and set the mood! So creative and well done.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Great, thanks Jessica! :)
Allan W. Posted 7 months ago
A really good job flashing back and forth between past and assumed present, leading to a lot of questions regarding distance of memory. #i90Army
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Allan! :)
Kevin O. Posted 7 months ago
Outer space effect was really well done! I think I needed to see the other parts of your project to really understand what I was seeing here. For example not sure what the red floating M&M's represented but nice work!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the comment, Kevin! Red floating blobs = blood drops. :)
Kevin O. Posted 7 months ago
Ahhhh ok, would be hard to fudge something like that.
Norma H. Posted 7 months ago
I feel her longing for her child. Well done
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome, Thanks Norma! :)
Brad D. Posted 7 months ago
A few too many shots here. If we're in her memories as she reflects back, would she remember the canada flag? Probably not so much. Keeping it subjective in the mind of the character takes a minimalistic approach. Think of the first shot of The Usual Suspects (the rope with the fire reflecting off of it). I liked the sunset, I liked the playing with her kid. I just felt like the editing was very quick for what is supposed to feel like a frozen moment.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Very thoughtful comment, Brad. Thanks!
Skye B. Posted 7 months ago
I really enjoy the effects here. Can't wait to see what you guys can do with the million!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Skye! Us too. :)
Afzal H. Posted 7 months ago
Great visual concept for the scenes in the space. The overall piece brings the idea across that she's now in space and is reflecting back on her life in Canada. May be it's a bad decision that she's regretting or that she misses her kid. This sequence could have been more powerful if the images were colour corrected, in my opinion they were clashing with each other - then again may be it was your intention to create that tension. Also, the scene in the bedroom where the kid is sleeping, the shaky camera is distractive in the sense that it doesn't make the sequence more intense. Just made me think that the camera needed some sort of stabilizer. May be this was all on intention to create that feeling :)
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Very thoughtful comment, Afzal. Thank you! :)
Sarah B. Posted 7 months ago
Without knowing for sure, this suggests to me Mattie's reflections on her life in the moments before it comes to an end. Is she sacrificing herself for the survival of others? Is the situation hopeless leaving her with suicide as the only option? Both ideas are very compelling to me. I can't believe how well you captured the feel of of a zero gravity environment in almost no time and with low/no budget. Really fantastic, guys!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you, Sarah! Great comment! :)
Heather G. Posted 7 months ago
Wow, this was sad but beautiful.I really feel for Mattie. It's amazing how much feeling just sound and images portrays. I honestly can't wait to see more!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome, thanks Heather! :)
Betty H. Posted 7 months ago
This is Mattie as she is drawing her last breath. She is remembering the loves of this lifetime, not wanting to leave but through her gesture of closing the door she takes her transition from this lifetime to the next.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Ooh, very thoughtful Betty. We shall see.... :)
Stephen S. Posted 7 months ago
If this is the kind of effect work that you guys can do on a short time frame/small budget, I can't wait to see what you can do with a bigger budget. Keep up the good work!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome, Stephen! Thank you! :)

Interesting and ambitious, especially with such a short timeframe to film this mission.
I really liked catching a glimpse at your heroine's past while seeing the foreshadowing of her future situation. You could see that her motivations did not change, but her attitude (and perhaps her goals) certainly did.

Thank you for the thoughtful comment, Kelly! :)

Thanks all for your thoughts! oh AND VIEWING IT! Our trailer was always about the HOOK of the movie... but our movie has always been about the Characters and there Humanity. I don't think a teaser "concept" trailer has the right to show that... not if you are introducing Space, Mars, death. I'm thankful that this mission let us play with the Characters POV.

It's Mattie as she transition from this life to the next. Incredible visuals, music & messages.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you, Betty! :)
Laurie D. Posted 7 months ago
That was beautiful. Words would have detracted from the story. Well done.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you, Laurie! :)

This is what I have been waiting for. Love the touch of focus and camera movement in the cutaway to invoke memory and a feeling of nostalgia and time it takes to figure out what the floating red balls are. Great work!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Great comment, Will. Thank you! :)
Bobbi F. Posted 7 months ago
I'm really digging this. It speaks to the human factor of being in space, how hard it would be to leave everything and everyone so far behind. Excited to see what's next...
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome, Bobbi! Thank you! :)

Really an ambitious project for this mission. I love what you guys are doing with this, keep up the great work!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Helen! :)

Nice use of music and visuals. This is probably my favourite work by your team to this point. I think you still have a ways to go but I like what I'm seeing.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the comment, John. :)

Wow, what a big undertaking for this mission. Really intrigued and impressed! Keep it up. - Team #ldrfilm

I really like this treatment for introducing this character - I could almost feel her pain! I want to know more about this character, her life, what brought her to this point.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Yea!! That's what we were going for. Thanks, Scott! :)
Moe M. Posted 7 months ago
Agreed with others, some scenes have been done in many movies however a few of them were stellar!! Good luck
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Moe! :)

Loved the floating effect and how you tie the ordinary withe extraordinary.
Thank you... These missions are great! they don't let you think to long on how to do things, so you end up relying on instinct... If you see similar stuff to other movies I'm sure your right... AND that means that you and we love the same kind of movies.
Nellemarie H. Posted 7 months ago
Loved the music - it tied together a lot of different emotions in all the scenes - lighthearted dancing with a child, late night pondering of what is ahead for a young child and his mother, and the tension of a few drops of blood in weightlessness - loved it all!
Kris B. Posted 7 months ago
great eye Nellemarie
Michelle G. Posted 7 months ago
That was haunting guys - fabulous job. I'm seriously impressed - and would be really interested to know how you did the floaty thing - so cool. Did not feel like CGI at all - very real. Andrea - you are a seriously talented actress and that boy of yours is absolutely adorable! Go team!

Interesting. Beautiful cinematography. Cool effects. A brief window into a character and situation I'd really like to know more about.
Kris B. Posted 7 months ago
We want to show you more
Fernanda P. Posted 7 months ago
I have actually watched you trailer but I enjoyed more this scene than the actual trailer. The special effects are really well done!
Kris B. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you! The trailer is more of a hook with the concept. But the movie is all about the characters. So I'm really happy that you liked our scene.
Lindsay S. Posted 7 months ago
Great job on the special effects. And a very emotional scene. Left me wanting to see more. Good luck!
Kris B. Posted 7 months ago
We want to give you more.
Rick A. Posted 7 months ago
For low budget I do like some of the effects. The cinematography is pretty well done in both the trailer and the promo vids.
Kris B. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you
Ayla L. Posted 7 months ago
I haven't seen your actual trailer yet.. but that's exactly where I'm going now that I've seen this! Well done, you sparked my interest!
Kris B. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you... We hope you like it... The trailer is a concept, a feeling and mood. it is more about the hook then the characters. With this, we wanted to tell everyone that our movie is Character based.

I love the contrast between warm earth memories and the cold environment on the space craft. You guys nailed this one - Team Stream

Thank you.

I thought the use of different images was interesting and this short piece conveyed a lot of emotion.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Great to hear! Thanks, Jane! :)
Fernanda P. Posted 7 months ago
Interesting!
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
We definitely want to keep it interesting! :)

Hhhhmmmmm, my mom told me if I can't say anything g nice...well the editing is not well done, a lot blurred shots that I don't feel r intentional, I understand the moms angst but feel it could have been captured much better but u did portray the angst
Kris B. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Olivia. These missions really push us. and with every choice we learn new things. I LOVE MOVIES and I love that you can interpret images differently then I. Thank you for your thoughts.
Frances L. Posted 7 months ago
Love this! It's a mom - heart broken and fighting for her life! While I cant relate to the experience, I can imagine...and wow! How I'd fight!! I think Mattie's a fighter, too. And I think she'll fight as hard as she can to get home to her boy. Love his picture below, too. Makes it real. :)
