Wow very beautiful display of the cinematic art form! It has a lot to say about how sound and cinema techniques can mislead and give surprising twists without dialog. Like the biting of an apple! Cinecoup encourages one to add to the story or fill in the blanks, but in truth I believe I could not do it justice. It is obvious that these great filmmakers can tell a much better tale than I. It is a great peice of cinema and I am glad that I watched it. Thank you very much to the team I bet they have worked very hard to accomplish what they did.

l, like those below, am confused. Verbiage? I think had you used, action, acting, music and shots you may have been able to do this mission
Ryder L. Posted 6 months ago
Whatever happened to the mission? This mission was about delivering your message without resorting to any speech. All that happens in this video is you talking! This is not on.
Nora J. Posted 6 months ago
I think you've totally missed the mark with the mission here. Good luck though, hope you'll stick to the rules in future.
Melissa H. Posted 6 months ago
Why does this video have dialogue when the mission clearly is to create a clip without dialogue, hence why it is named Speechless?
Ken N. Posted 6 months ago
I think my failing grade for this week's challenge is that it's called "Speechless" AND THERE'S DIALOG! Even if you wanted to excuse it as explanatory V/O, there is still...
Oh, never mind. :(

Isn't this supposed to be speechless? This does not make the task at all and I don't care for how it is shot at a..

good suspense. great cinematography. glad someone is making use of our beautiful, unique, majestic mountains.

I think you're rehashing the best of your trailer however your narrative devalued it. It would have been better if you had just left it alone,

This was a little bit long for me and I could have done without the narration...I wanted to get into the scene a bit more...
Lena D. Posted 7 months ago
I thought the first shot went on for a little long, but I get where it was going I guess. Sometimes it's that way.
Jamie M. Posted 7 months ago
I thought the idea was cool, but not executed in the right way. The shot was a bit long and shaky and didn't have the best production quality.
tess o. Posted 7 months ago
wow--people can be so harsh! Your narration bits just framed your 'speechless' clip--but...haven't we seen it before??
Bente H. Posted 7 months ago
The"speechless" component of this mission was missed...

This mission didn't go down too well with your team, but I'm sure you can do better given a chance. Here's wishing you good luck with the rest of this competition. :)

Very dissappointed, Team Link. We were really expecting some captivating work that makes us want to see more of your film, but this is just a narration.

The whole idea was to take the story forward without speech. Not only is this video all about speech, it doesn't take the story forward either!

The clip without sound was good. Beautiful setting. Interesting approach that you chose to use talking through most o fit.
Cheri-Lyn W. Posted 7 months ago
this is goofy, there is talking when it is supposed to be a speechless mission video, very strange approach.
Aiden C. Posted 7 months ago
Not a great mission from your team. Too much talking with only a 20 second clip of actually being speechless.

Clearly you didn't watch the whole thing. Yes we discuss a bit in the beginning but then we show off our sound design skills in one of our transitions.
Linda S. Posted 7 months ago
Love these guys. Want to see their film go the full length.
Janai R. Posted 7 months ago
Thought the narration wasn't necessary. Kind of broke the rules a bit. You could have just gone with the cool visuals.
Rogel D. Posted 7 months ago
Great camera work and acting. Storytelling is very detailed and well told. Would love to see the full film
Donald Y. Posted 7 months ago
My favourite moment is the bite transition. I'd liked to see the sasquatch.
Benoit C. Posted 7 months ago
the beginning is very entising with the trees and the lonely winter day... I don't even think you needed the voiceover! well done
Aden S. Posted 7 months ago
ummmmm......not sure why there's voice over, and half the video is filler intro. but second half was well done
Heidi H. Posted 7 months ago
Hard to tell what was going on all the time. It looks really good and the scenery was breathtaking!!
Natalia N. Posted 7 months ago
It would've been cool of you filmed another speechless scene instead of using the same one form the trailer. The voice-over in the beginning also threw me off and I didn't really find it necessary
Melanie T. Posted 7 months ago
Love the concept and commitment. Great job showing transitions without any dialogue. It's amazing how much emotion comes through.
Jason M. Posted 7 months ago
I appreciate the fact that your previous submission met the challenge of this one, but I think you guys would have been better served if you had submitted some more original content to highlight your skill rather than showing us what you had already done.
John K. Posted 7 months ago
Loved the apple bit. Other then that I'm afraid it left me a bit cold. I just wasn't motivated to see the movie through watching the clip.
William R. Posted 7 months ago
Doesn't really fit the criteria of showing a part of the movie without voices, you just took parts from your trailer and rehashed it.
Daric H. Posted 7 months ago
If you watch the trailer again you will notice we have very little dialogue to begin with. Our whole aesthetic is based on sound design so the mission was arguably redundant to our trailer. Maybe take a peek at our cheap tricks mission for even more emphasis on this style.
Colin T. Posted 7 months ago
well said
Danny L. Posted 7 months ago
not really a whole bunch to add this did not get me to want to watch the movie or smoth enough to add to it
Rod M. Posted 7 months ago
Hmmm.. didn't do much for me. It hasn't pulled me in at all. The scenes seemed somewhat disjointed.
Ryan B. Posted 7 months ago
I think that the voice over did not really take away from the thrust of the mission because the narrative happens without it. also: nuts to the damn rules!
Karen H. Posted 7 months ago
I was thrown right from the voice-over at the beginning. I don't really see how the music and cuts chosen elevate anything, it just seems like fact-fact... no emotion.

Colin T. Posted 7 months ago
To be fair, yes there is narration at the start and end but I can see where they were going with this. The middle sequence shows how sound and design elevate a sequence and there is no dialogue. Yes it's not a new scene, but this is not "just narration" as you've put it
Paul T. Posted 7 months ago
The whole idea was to take the story forward without speech. Not only is this video all about speech, it doesn't take the story forward either!
Colin T. Posted 7 months ago
as I stated above, this is not "all about speech", I don' necessarily think this mission was their best by any means but I don't think its fair to say that this video was "all about speech"
Daric H. Posted 7 months ago
Who says the whole video needed to be void of speech?
Jean F. Posted 7 months ago
I think you've totally missed the mark with the mission here. Good luck though, hope you'll stick to the rules in future.
Colin T. Posted 7 months ago
Some teams have different interpretations of the 'rules", not sure how many mission videos you've watched but some teams don't bother even in the slightest to follow the mission path, they just list accolades or make fun of the process.
Nicolas F. Posted 7 months ago
Whatever happened to the mission? This mission was about delivering your message without resorting to any speech. All that happens in this video is you talking! This is not on.
Afzal H. Posted 7 months ago
We wanted to see a narrative snapshot from your film that showed off your vision & ability to tell a story using a camera and cuts. But you used most of this sequence to justify why it was okay not to create something special for this mission. Fans are not happy!
Daric H. Posted 7 months ago
Afzal and others, we essentially did this mission in the last mission, which put us in a difficult position. We decided to highlight our favourite use of sound from our trailer to show off what we can do. The intro and outro should be taken as simply entertaining bookends. The clip is the point here. Hope that clears up some confusion.
Aiden C. Posted 7 months ago
I get what you are saying but I think it would have being more effective to not have any talking. Yes you were a little bit screwed due to your last mission. However many projects ran into similar situations of repeating footage etc. The sound design you had in the video worked well but the talking before and after really hurt the final product on this mission. With that said I look forward to see what you do for the next mission.
Beverley R. Posted 7 months ago
The music does really elevate the sequence and the sound of the apple was amazing, looks like it will be a interesting watch.
Michelle G. Posted 7 months ago
I'm confused. I thought there wasn't supposed to be any talking in this mission? I also felt like the footage you showed was just stuff from the trailer. I'm a little disappointed that you didn't show something original.
mirdy p. Posted 7 months ago
Though the shots were good I do agree it missed the boat a bit for the speechless mission. I liked the apple though.
Eugene H. Posted 7 months ago
nice job - thinking outside the box again - left me, well....speechless!!!!
Karyn T. Posted 7 months ago
Felt like i was actually in the car travelling along the bumpy road at the beginning. The scenery in the clip is stunning.
Drew R. Posted 7 months ago
I agree with colin t, the apple crunch transition was priceless! I also loved the thump thump da bump tune with the spooky chord right before it. Awesome job!
Drew R. Posted 7 months ago
Cruuuunch!
Colin T. Posted 7 months ago
I still love the apple biting transition. If i were to be scrambling in the woods looking for/running from sasquatch this is the music i'd expect to hear. no complaints from me
Carly T. Posted 7 months ago
I think the portion of this video devoted to sound and design really got my heart pounding, it was effective in my eyes
Don T. Posted 7 months ago
Yes people are going to harp on the dialogue at the beginning and the end but the portion in the middle is what this mission is about, effective scene elevated by sound and design. I think this was fine. maybe would have been nice to see an additional scene perhaps but regardless I still think this is good.
Karen T. Posted 7 months ago
People seem to think you didn't complete this mission, but in my opinion you showed how a scene can be elevated without dialogue and there was some very effective music and sound in that scene. I get what some others are saying but I think they're being too hard on you. Anyway just my opinion, keep up the hard work boys.
Yvonne L. Posted 7 months ago
Best line ever... Looks like we are going to have to move a tree !! Not sure if the mission was accomplished here or not.
Tia A. Posted 7 months ago
Narration of any kind of takes away from the mission objective to me. Would've been nice to see a scene that relies on sound design only.
Dana B. Posted 7 months ago
I think that sounds like dialogue to me... Isn't written word dialogue? I think I saw a bottle of Kokanee in the wide shot.
Adam K. Posted 7 months ago
The mission is to accentuate a part of your trailer that is heightened by sound design and no dialogue. I don't think that means we can't have bumpers at both ends of the scene discussing it. Also please never compare us to that garbage Kokanee movie/commercial.
Cathy S. Posted 7 months ago
Some great shots, but I think maybe the narration took away from the point of the mission. Would have liked to see more of the story being developed.
Melanie . Posted 7 months ago
Nice work. Love how the music elevates everything. It is amazing what can be done without any dialogue.
