There is some logic here, but if it is a competition, then you have to prove you can make a professional movie. Even if yoiu start as an amateur, you try to learn things like sound and do film something to prove the skill and leadership needed to make a professional movie.
Perry M. Posted 6 months ago
very interesting to watch. Whenever there is confusion, fear, suspense and running away from something or being chased..then coming up to a house..well done!
Jeff M. Posted 6 months ago
Speechless mission has left me speechless!! Excited to see how this film works out. Good luck Team! :D
Bruiser F. Posted 6 months ago
I don't see this going too much further but can only imagine your hard work so good luck moving on :o)
Trudy H. Posted 6 months ago
You guys did so well on your other videos, this one left me disappointed. Hope to see better on the next mission.
Grace P. Posted 6 months ago
I really appreciate your sense of humour and wit. I don't know if you'll make it to the next levels, but I sure hope you do.
Ella H. Posted 6 months ago
This was funny. But I think you missed the mark of the mission here. The whole point of the excercise was to make a point without using any words. You could do that even without shooting the real movie.
Gabriel B. Posted 6 months ago
The money you are spending here is like an investment in the future, isn't it? Surely, low budget, cost effective options are easily available.
Ryan C. Posted 6 months ago
I wonder which teams you are talking about - I suppose even if they have already shot the movie, Cinecoup is going to expect them to shoot it again. hmmm...
Rebecca P. Posted 6 months ago
This was funny. But I think you missed the mark of the mission here. The whole point of the excercise was to make a point without using any words. You could do that even without shooting the real movie.
Michael I. Posted 6 months ago
Well that left me speechless. I think you guys are pretty funny and I really like you idea, but its not like you can't shoot something for us with your iphone.
Vincent B. Posted 6 months ago
This just feels a bit negative. Why don't you name the projects you think are already in the can? That would show some real nerve.
Diane N. Posted 6 months ago
I'd prefer a little more action and a little less reading.
Daniella M. Posted 6 months ago
This was funny, and I think that the premise is a good one, and even if you aren't able to shoot an actual scene, this doesn't look like it took very much effort... (compared to what other teams are doing).
Lyn S. Posted 7 months ago
Still think its worth watching and making movie or cereal
Seth C. Posted 7 months ago
Bravo! I really get more and more behind you guys every week. I cant wait to see you guys off the couch, like maybe at a pub.
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
that's where i usually am!
Bruce E. Posted 7 months ago
Point taken but another fans have previously mentioned, this is a film competition and other teams have been able to complete their challenges without having a finished product already.
Brandon G. Posted 7 months ago
Well its a trailer competition, they want filmmakers who know how to make a movie are able to shoot something and know how to use a million dollars. Having a good written script is great but theres more to this competition then that. I do like your missions though, maybe could use some new posters.
Sandra L. Posted 7 months ago
Have to admit, I haven't seen your other missions but will go and check them now. Your clip is funny, but I agree with others, is writing speechless or not? Filmmaking is not cheap and in order to win every team has to put a lot of effort (and some $) into it.
Jennifer E. Posted 7 months ago
I completely understand the point you are making. However, there are some teams that do not have a film shot and they still managed to successfully fulfill the mission. I think you have a responsibility to participate fully in the competition.
Edward Y. Posted 7 months ago
I really hope you guys make it to the next round. I like the concept of your film a lot as I live nearby many wineries & vineyards. Good luck!
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the support!
Natalia N. Posted 7 months ago
As much as I agree with all your points made its not like all the other groups had their movies shot yet. I know a few of them personally and some of them only shot teasers they could use in a package to show potential investors. I do really like you guys and you have awesome personalities so i hope you keep trying and having fun with the mission because they usually make me laugh.
alivia d. Posted 7 months ago
I am a little dissappointed. You have been doing some really innovative work, and this was witty and funny too, but you could have atleast worked with the limitations of the mission. I'm not sure writing out your words qualifies for speechless.

I love this type of thing. Really bringing some edge to this contest. I hope to see you next round.
Jim T. Posted 7 months ago
Keep playing your cards right. You'll make it.
Petra P. Posted 7 months ago
HAHAHAHAHA! You guys are a breath of fresh air in a stale competition. I hope you destroy everyone.
Teela B. Posted 7 months ago
Good luck in the vote. This might be the first time you need it!
Michelle R. Posted 7 months ago
Oh you sassy gents. I almost forgot to watch this video. Glad I didn't miss it.
Jason M. Posted 7 months ago
Got to say I loved the subtle poke at some of the other competitors and what appears to be finished films. Hope you guys make it to the next round.
Jake S. Posted 7 months ago
Still my favourite. Good luck in the vote!
Simone F. Posted 7 months ago
Let's go Ruby, Let's GO!
Ryan M. Posted 7 months ago
Really cool video. While I love a lot of the other videos but I definitely see where you guys are coming from. Nice to see a sense of humour.
Nancy R. Posted 7 months ago
Very funny but it does make me wonder why you entered the competition
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
Samezies! We didn't know it would be anything like this. We're having fun though and looking forward to the outcome.
patricia s. Posted 7 months ago
like the humor, but was expecting a little bit more, hope you guys make it to the next level. wish you good
Roy K. Posted 7 months ago
Hmm... This might be taking it too far. Rather like my comment. Hmmm................................
Andie Q. Posted 7 months ago
Clearly very different and I think some great points are made but... if you have a camera and can shoot something... why not an attempt at the mission?
Ajit B. Posted 7 months ago

Kismet T. Posted 7 months ago
Hi Danny and Cooper, I think some individuals have missed the point that you entered the contest as writers. Perhaps not every team has the same resources at hand. I have heard there is a wild card factor... Don't give up! Keep thinking "outside the box" ;)
Chado M. Posted 7 months ago
Totally agree with the point that the already-shot movies shouldn't be in a competition to get their movie shot. Although I don't think that's enough reason to essentially boycott the entire process.
Tyler M. Posted 7 months ago
you guys just lost the respect of every filmmaker in this competition, booo!
Suvi P. Posted 7 months ago
Umm... What was this? I really expected something... What's the word... Real. Not this. Disappointing.
Patrick C. Posted 7 months ago
Disappointing. If you look at what some of the other film makers have done, you will see that they were able to shoot a scene easily, low cost, that went to telling the story they were trying to sell. You entered a competition so you either participate or not participate, and you guys have chosen the later. It provides the fans with little to go by to see if you are talented film makers or not.
Scotty W. Posted 7 months ago
You guys do more to show the personality behind the cameras than any other team and you do it without any tricks (except for maybe the cheap one). I definitely want to see a few different types of filmmakers in the end and right now, you're in a league of your own. Don't change a bit and take advantage of next week's mission to address everyone's concerns.
Walter H. Posted 7 months ago
Keep it up, boys. Follow your bliss.
Mia O. Posted 7 months ago

Monique L. Posted 7 months ago
You guys are hilarious. I look forward to watching your next missions. I'd like to know more about your film as it sounds really good.
Aiden C. Posted 7 months ago
Honestly I think your project is very interesting and your trailer was creative. Unfortunately for you, other filmmakers are either spending money or have access to equipment and crew which gives them a leg up. Keep your chin up this competition also provides exposer for all projects. I would not be surprised to see more then one of the projects find funding due to this competition.
Katie T. Posted 7 months ago
I feel for you. As a filmmaker myself I am hesitant to enter unless I can call in a wack of favours (again) or spend money (again) - almost makes Telefilm look easy after seeing everything you guys are going through - and wasn't that the point. To avoid the hoops. I'm so impressed with everyone, including you guys for doing it your way.
Justina P. Posted 7 months ago
You guys have balls. I like balls.
Justina P. Posted 7 months ago
I'll say this about you guys- you are absolutely the first video I check every week. I didn't realize it, but I'm now your superfan. Sneaky. Very sneaky.
Donal O. Posted 7 months ago
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Alright I'm liking you guys more and more. You have hit on my biggest problem with some of the movies here. They're already shot, and some of them just re-edit the same clips for different missions. That's driving me absolutely bonzo!
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
I'm in love with you
Neil C. Posted 7 months ago
Brilliant. Simply brilliant.
Cyndi F. Posted 7 months ago
Do have to agree with some of the other comments. This video seems very lazy and amateurish. Your fellow competitors made trailers and shot parts of their movie, this seems like an excuse to get out of having to do a part in the competition. Why do you deserve the money when you put in less effort then your competitors?
Paul J. Posted 7 months ago
Wine with a straw eh? Yeah this is a little lazy and boring to watch. I get the play on words but it is only interesting for the first 10 seconds then I expected it to be a joke and for the scene to start.
Katherine H. Posted 7 months ago
HA! You guys are pleasant curmudgeons.
Debs P. Posted 7 months ago
It is difficult to rate this - there is nothing to praise or criticize except for the printing - but it comes across as lazy and amateurish.
Crystal F. Posted 7 months ago
You might get some flak for this one boys but I still love ya. From Fort McMurray still remember you J!
Jeremy B. Posted 7 months ago
Hmm...Crystal Fitzpatrick?
Samantha B. Posted 7 months ago
I don't know. I think this is still funny. I also think 100 characters is too many to have to reach to - DONE
Tim E. Posted 7 months ago
I feel your pain and frustration but unfortunately others teams have been able to pull their missions together without already having a " movie in a can"...good luck.
Johnny A. Posted 7 months ago
Not sure where I fall on this video. I've read some of the comments and it seems people are picking sides. I really don't think people should get so worked up over it. It's just a MILLION DOLLARS :)
Kevin N. Posted 7 months ago
Despite what some are saying, Cinecoup wouldn't be the same without Ruby Starfish and the handful of others that are truly taking this competition in different directions.
Farnsworth S. Posted 7 months ago
I hesitate to say it but you guys are the bad boyz of the cioncoup. Ballas with balls is what I call that. Good fortune!
Amanda T. Posted 7 months ago
Haha, I am also commenting for the votes. Not sure how much I can add as criticism of the video. It is what it is and I wouldn't want anything else from Team Ruby Starfish. Keep it up, I hope you make it!
Brent L. Posted 7 months ago
Guys - I am commenting just to earn more votes to vote in your movie in 45 minutes. I am at 100 chara
Sam J. Posted 7 months ago
Excellent. I can always count on you guys to make me smile at the end of the day. Even though I signed up for my friend's film, I totally give you guys a few too. Don't tell! ;)
Simon T. Posted 7 months ago
Ok, ok, there was a couple points where some of the more sensitive types may take offense. But really, these guys killing it.
Jody C. Posted 7 months ago
Judging from all the comments, this is the team to watch. Such a polarizing trio. That's all I wanted to say but I gotta hit 100 characters to get my votes.
Sara B. Posted 7 months ago
Great points team! We really hope you guys make this film! Love, your fans from the team at Long Distance :)
Darren R. Posted 7 months ago
I tried giving you guys a 10 for your trailer numerous times and a great review but I don't see it sticking SO ... I'm giving this a 10 and a great review. Guys, you have a great sense about you and know what the contest 'should' be about, but there is a reason you are still in it. There IS a story to be told, and hopefully we'll see you in the top 40. About the time Cinecoup should be throwing a party for us (hint) and I can shake the hand of some brilliant artists. Keep up the humour and keep sluggin it out. If I get my friends together with your friends, our numbers would be trending up in the double digits. LOL. We should think about that if we hit top 40. #absolutionmovie
Fernanda P. Posted 7 months ago
You guys are getting a lot of feedback and I hope you are listening... Funny is good but if you want this film made you gotta be ready for the challenges. Seriously.
Steve A. Posted 7 months ago
It does kinda seem like you're giving everyone a big 'fuck you' with this. I liked what you guys have been doing, this just overall sucked balls #grapes
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
I want you to know that the like you received was from me.
Eric R. Posted 7 months ago
Would have liked to see more...I think a lot of other projects feel the same way. I believe I saw somewhere you warned it wasn't you best mission. Glad you owned up to the fact that you didn't go all out on this mission.
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
Yeah, in retrospect, we wish we could've done more because we really value our fans. We're excited to shine through and do our best for you guys.
Rod M. Posted 7 months ago
Interesting, however a bunch of other folks were able to create a scene. Now I have nothing to look forward to here.
Shelley T. Posted 7 months ago
Disappointed to not see a real scene here. Feels like you couldn't be bothered to do one. Plus, I thought the point of the mission was to not use words....
Jexx M. Posted 7 months ago
I thought it was pretty clever, like the previous missions. I hope you guys move on to the next round!
Penny E. Posted 7 months ago
I think a lot of contestants have the same feelings but they have gone ahead and done their best to make a speechless scene anyway.
Jody M. Posted 7 months ago
I'm new to the site, and I haven't seen the other pieces of your project yet. I wish this was more about your movie, and not about the contest...
Phil B. Posted 7 months ago
Team Heart Cooks Brain feels your pain. We've been killing ourselves to finish these missions each week, while also finding time to pay our rent. Ludicrous the amount of comments that seem to assume the trailer and videos missions should be practically broadcast-ready for a development contest.
Ally P. Posted 7 months ago
Hey buds. We hear you. Looking forward to hearing more about your story and your project in the coming weeks though. - Team B Side
Nadia A. Posted 7 months ago
Mission Accomplished.
Brad D. Posted 7 months ago
I'm sure you're not the only ones that feel this way. Going in, I expected the mission videos to be more like talking head videos keeping people updated. The sheer volume of work is taking people away from their paid jobs, their freelance jobs and their families/loved ones. I'd love to see some metrics on how many people besides the filmmaking teams are actually paying attention to this competition. Wondering how worth it this all is.
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Brad. I think a lot of people assume we aren't working hard. Truth is, we put tons of time and effort into our script for this movie, and are still tweaking and perfecting to this day. We were hoping to have our film be judged on the strength of the script (as most films should be), but that opportunity hasn't presented itself yet.
Jacques M. Posted 7 months ago
I am a little dissappointed. You have been doing some really innovative work, and this was witty and funny too, but you could have atleast worked with the limitations of the mission. I'm not sure writing out your words qualifies for speechless.
nithi k. Posted 7 months ago
I really appreciate your sense of humour and wit. I don't know if you'll make it to the next levels, but I sure hope you do.
Jacques P. Posted 7 months ago
This was funny. But I think you missed the mark of the mission here. The whole point of the excercise was to make a point without using any words. You could do that even without shooting the real movie.
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
If we could, we would! :)
shilpi s. Posted 7 months ago
The money you are spending here is like an investment in the future, isn't it? Surely, low budget, cost effective options are easily available.
Michel P. Posted 7 months ago
Good point, and I kind of agree with you, but then again, all the other teams are managing to make their mark despite the limitations. Not sure all of it is valid, really.
Laurel L. Posted 7 months ago
I love that you two are such wild cards. Don't give up!! Keep the humour rolling, you've been great so far. Some of the best laughs yet. I'm looking forward to future things from you....
Luis R P. Posted 7 months ago
Well, well. unfortunately I believe you guys failed this mission. You asked WHO?...The answer is: The other 58 teams that are competing in Cinecoup.
Darren R. Posted 7 months ago
No not really Luis ... #absolutionmovie really likes these guys and we are probably below them in the standings of 'sofake' media. LOL.
Carolyn K. Posted 7 months ago
I get what you guys are saying and I read some of the others comments made. I am one of your "watchers," I don't know you, and felt pretty disappointed in this and the derogatory feel. I have enjoyed your humor so far - still hope to see more.
Michael M. Posted 7 months ago
You took the words right out of my mouth. My feelings exactly. We entered at last minute -last day - had to grab shots from collective Youtube stuff. It works...assuming the audience is literate...this is Amerika and Kanada, eh.
Afzal H. Posted 7 months ago
To be honest, I was expecting something spectacular at the end, especially because your buddy made it alive after his head was blown in the last video! You may not realize but I think you raised your own bar with the cheap-tricks mission and this video will definitely disappoint your fans/audience. I still loved the humour because it kind of follows the tone of the film you're pitching and I'm a big fan of Sideways so you're still in the game but I think now you might have to blow yourself up in the next mission LOL. Good luck :)
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
Great feedback. I agree with most of what you're saying. It could be too little too late for us, but we're hoping to do that with future missions. We really value your unbiased opinion.
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
We actually had some great stuff but they only allowed 90 seconds this time instead of 2 minutes... wait til we release our extended edition blu-ray around Christmas
Afzal H. Posted 7 months ago
LOL
Lynne M. Posted 7 months ago
Mmm can't believe I actually say through that, 1min 33 seconds I won't ever get back. I suppose it appeals to some people not me!
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
(insert sex joke here)
Rose L. Posted 7 months ago
This made me laugh as per usual. You bring levity to the competition. I always look forward to your videos. I picture the film at this point as Sideways meets Gosford Park. Am I way off? - #LDRfilm
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
I've actually never seen Gosford Park, so I don't want to misspeak. It's a dramatic comedy that really focuses on a simple heist that gets over-complicated. These criminals originally break in to rob a place, but then realize they'll need time to search it. So then, they pose as winemakers to get a job on the property so they can do that. But one of the criminals has a change of heart, and this is all while a documentary film crew has been secretly filming their criminal exploits. It turns into a bit of a juggling act for these guys. I hate complimenting myself but the script is extremely original. We hope we get to share it someday.
I can't wait to watch Gosford Park now and cut myself when it's the same as our script.
Corey T. Posted 7 months ago
I'm not sure that condescension towards your audience was the right way to go with this mission. Your audience members are your allies in this process!
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
We love our fans and audience - we know 90% of them personally! We doubt any of them are losing sleep over this video.
Mandy G. Posted 7 months ago
Have you given up? It seems that you're frustrated with the competition guidelines. From what I understand, many of the teams have not filmed their movie either.
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
We think our points about the challenges are valid, so some of those frustrate us. Beyond that, haven't given up and still having fun! And we know a lot of other teams don't have completed, polished packages (that's what she...nvm) and we're rooting for them. And many other projects on here too, believe it or not.
Mohamad M. Posted 7 months ago
Brilliant. We love you guys (Team Pretty Life)
Marianne M. Posted 7 months ago
Some good points here but don't know if it will help you.
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
Well put!
Lianna W. Posted 7 months ago
Agree with what you say. Crazy competition, lots of work and little reward, few films actually get the money, people putting huge amounts of time into this risk ... we will see.
Jake C. Posted 7 months ago
I can tell from your content that you're actually competent filmmakers. I like that you've actually got a unique approach to this competition and I can understand where you're coming from. A lot of us are lucky to have enough resources and apparent time at hand to keep pumping out the insane number of mission videos at the quality that we expect of ourselves but when you don't it's totally stacked. I'm super drained from working for free throughout this competition already but I'll cuss a lot more and find a way. It's almost like a war of attrition. Good luck with your film, I think it's got real promise.
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Jake! We are excited for the next video where we can just talk about our film on an even playing field- but we really appreciate the work you and your team and many others are putting in to this thing. Thanks for being empathetic- we hope to impress you soon enough though!
Marc S. Posted 7 months ago
I applaud your efforts to try something different however I feel you have given up and not really put your best effort forward. You've lost me at this point.
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
I applaud that you applaud us! Come back to the dark side when you're ready.
Carolyn v. Posted 7 months ago
I enjoyed watching this and you have some good points but it would have been nice to see something more about your film concept.
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
Totally see your point. We are really excited to chat about our film, and only our film, in the next video.
Karen D. Posted 7 months ago
You say this is an April Fools joke and then quip, "did it go over everyone's heads?" So, not only do you insult the competition and the teams who are putting in countless hours of time to actually build a legitimate fan base, but you insult your own fans by calling them stupid. Great work team.
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
Finally! Someone who mentions we're doing great work!
Steven J. Posted 7 months ago
quite simple, maybe the stress of the competition is getting to you and you aren't having as much fun or as much time for making the missions, but come on boys, it's for a million. Keep going strong, you're not doing bad at all.
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the kindness! I think a large part of our frustration came on day 1. We were told we could make a video of essentially anything, as long as it let people know what your story was about. So we did our little pitch video and thought it was different and looked forward to seeing the others. Then we were bashed for not having a traditional trailer, which was never stated you needed to have. That was okay. Then we saw some trailers that were CLEARLY already completed films with budgets that made us wonder if we should've found a 'micro-filmmaking contest'. Then, for our wine movie, we, as writers, were asked to do a special effect. That's like me asking a cowboy to prove his manliness by orbiting the moon. And we never thought we'd need to shoot a scene, which, we're legit sorry we couldn't do. Believe it or not, we are still and always have been having fun in this competition. We have felt like underdogs since day #1, so we're just gonna keep doing things our way, no matter how that makes us look to some people.
Paul T. Posted 7 months ago
Maybe HIRE someone to direct your narrative missions? While I have enjoyed your missions so far, this one felt like #sourgrapes or maybe #gripes
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
My biggest case of sour grapes goes to Mr. Larry David, who already used "Soup Grapes" as a title for a project he did way back! Woulda been perfect for us!
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
We only see each other two hours a week every Saturday, so it's very hard for us to get too elaborate. But who knows... maybe we will have a surprise in store...
Brenda T. Posted 7 months ago
hahahahaha goes to show how simple but effective a mission like this can be. That was hilarious and none a word need be spoken.
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
Glad you liked it! We appreciate most of the feedback. We like to have the people on the in and outside of this contest ask questions and try to see things from a different perspective.
Kelly G. Posted 7 months ago
Haha you guys are awesome. I completely sympathize with your points in this video and below. You guys signed on to be writers, not actors, directors, DP's, gaffers etc. I really enjoy your weekly missions for the very basic reason that they are unique. Good luck fellas. Hopefully this didn't step on anyone's toes too much.
Kismet T. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the smile! Good Luck with your concept.... I empathize with your message.
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
Glad you do! When we made our first feature, it was shot on the 2 days a week we didn't work our day jobs. Never thought I'd say this but we're not in so comfortable a position anymore to do that! (yikes)
Reel F. Posted 7 months ago
Who would do that? About 60 "stupid" teams and all the others that just got cut... Probably.
Em K. Posted 7 months ago
So is this gonna be some combo of heist flicks and Sideways? And who is Ruby Starfish? Notice that my comment is not really a comment?
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
A welcome change after the floodgates! A cool grasp of what we're going for. It's actually not SUPER wine-heavy a film, considering it's to be filmed on a vineyard. And Ruby Starfish... well, the explanation might be a little spoiler-y. So we'll leave that one out for now ;)
Emma S. Posted 7 months ago
Every time you guys put a huge smile on my face. You say all the things I imagine other teams are feeling. You also make me feel like a total chump for calling in a million favours and begging for locations every single gig. - CHEERS team #ldrfilm

Hah, really glad we can entertain some fellow filmmakers/lovers- that's why we decided to make a go of this lifestyle to begin with! And don't feel like a chump- we really like and appreciate all the other teams and the work they do. This is, for now, the best we can do with what we have at our disposal. A lot of people seem to be upset that 2 writers in a new city can't pump out the quality that they are each week, but we've never done things the way other filmmakers have. We may come off as harsh, but I'm glad most of you can take it lightly and for what it is- a different approach.
John K. Posted 7 months ago
Everyone else in the competition seems to be able to come up with actual footage that gives us an idea of what their movie is about, what it will look like and as much as I like the idea of your movie and the creative ways you have accomplished the missions, I'm really not sure of your team and whether you have the moxie to actually pull off a feature film. I really think that in order to be competitive with the other teams in this competition you will need to come up with something - anything - to convince us that you have the talent to pull this off. Other teams are going all out and you guys seem to be on cruise control. I don't mean to be critical (well maybe I do) but these videos just aren't getting the job done.

We currently have our first feature playing across Canada. Cooper and I wrote that movie in our free time and shot it with a crew that wanted to be a part of it based on the strength of the script alone. We shot it (and re shot it) OVER a year and it was paid for, 100% entirely out of mine and Cooper's pockets. No one had ever taught us how to write a script the 'proper way', how to pitch it to directors or audition actors. We were never taught how to package and sell it either. But we did all that while working very modest, fulltime jobs. I'm not using any previous accomplishments to boost our stock in this competition, but when it comes to having the moxie to pull off a feature, we are those people. I've seen a few productions just stop dead because some outsider can't throw his money in the pot or an actor or crew member vanishes or any number of reasons. We didn't and don't let that happen.
That said, we know what these videos must look like. If we stick around, we'd love to show you more about what the film is about. Especially on an even playing field (like talking about your film or having the script be compared to others).

While I have been looking forward to each video to see how you two decide to interpret the challenge, I wouldn't mind seeing more of what you guys can do when shooting something other than a single stationary shot. I understand that you're being funny though, and you've definitely won me over as writers - I'd just like you to win me over as directors.
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
I appreciate your comment but would like to bring up the point that we will not be directing this movie, or DP'ing this movie should we win the competition. We know where our talents are, and as writers we will have people who are awesome at those things, do those things. :)
Tatiana Z. Posted 7 months ago
That definitely changes my outlook on your project haha. Sorry I didn't catch that before. Thank you for the clarification!
Stacey A. Posted 7 months ago
Best part for me is that you managed to piece together dude's head. Also, showing you have what it takes to shoot a small scene proves yourself to others and makes you worthy of $1 million.
Joanie M. Posted 7 months ago
I think there is a lot of people angry about this mission video of yours...it might be understandable as they were looking forward to seeing a scene from the film. Your trailer concept was very original & yes we'd all like to see more. You are still very funny & good at what you do & wish you the best of luck!

Hmmmmm, an April Fools joke, huh? Will you be posting a real one now that it's not April 1st anymore?
Dana B. Posted 7 months ago
Haven't a clue what your movie is actually about... Does anyone?
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
It's a cool genre movie about killer robots who take over the Sun. But once they get there they realize nobody lives there and they die of loneliness.
Kev M. Posted 7 months ago
Oh oh I really want to see that movie!! But instead of robots can it be cartoon penguins cause people like that. And instead of the sun I say North Korea cause its topical. The loneliness is gold though.
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
Cyborgs, dude. Cyborgs. God..
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
So much hate! Did our April Fools joke go over everyone's head??
Deadline M. Posted 7 months ago
Hey no worries...you guys are still charming! Looking forward to Mission 6 where you get to tell us the origin of the story...that should definitely cater more towards you as writers :)
Michelle G. Posted 7 months ago
Well you're certainly different - maybe even original and slightly funny. It's just that I don't know if I'd trust you with a million dollars. If you can't pull off what others are clearly capable of, then why do you DESERVE the million. Unless you're making a movie about how NOT to win a million dollars - now that might be a movie that I'd like to see ;)
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
Hopefully there will be a mission where they ask us to post a video on why we deserve the million. I would love to answer that in our signature style using the green couch and my iPhone!

FLASHCARD #3 ... SEE YOU in the TOP 5! ;)
Darren R. Posted 7 months ago
FLASHCARD #2 ... Darren R. from Absolution Movie - you'll find me at the END with all the nasty comments from other teams I haven't made friends with, I forget their movie names, I blanked out .. I need a cue card! See - perfect teammates! If we only had MONEY to shoot something REAL
Darren R. Posted 7 months ago
APPLAUSE ... man I am a new fan of you guys! I think you summed it up beautifully BUT I think WE have created what THEY are looking for in SOCIAL media - people don't get our mission video either LOL, or the posters, OR the Speechless OR ... wanna team up?
Douglas H. Posted 7 months ago
You've got a point and I agree with the "concept" trailer part... just seems that many others are pulling it together to get something done.
Jacquie G. Posted 7 months ago
Blah blah Janne H only positive constructive words we use nice words in this program you are free to leave the building
Janne H. Posted 7 months ago
This was interesting. Although it will be difficult to encourage people to vote for you. There are many projects in this competition that have not been shot, yet they continue to shoot mission videos, make posters and have a trailer. So your point is rather . . . pointless.
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
Good point!
Tiara A. Posted 7 months ago
Somehow other teams are creating mission videos on nearly zero budgets, acting above it all is not endearing anymore.
Jacquie G. Posted 7 months ago
I love you guys. I want to work on you movie. You give me faith to keep moving on. Love. Simple. Perfect. no listen to the haters
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
Marry all three of us.
Julia Y. Posted 7 months ago
Okay... sorry but I'm not sure that this qualified as an original attempt at "something different"... and maybe this isn't the right competition for you if you're going to do it "differently" like this.
Christopher W. Posted 7 months ago
I agree with Fabien...the Meta humour was kinda funny to begin with, now it is just coming across as lazy. If you aren't willing to commit to even putting together a scene, trailer or even a decent poster, then why should you be trusted with $1 million for a feature?
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
I believe we should be trusted with one million because we have made one feature film already, and had success with it, and it was all because of a great original screenplay. I have a ton of confidence in our script for this film. I'm not sure what we're expected to do, especially when none of the missions make sense for our film. We don't have special effects in our film, we don't have silent montages ala Rushmore. This isn't us being lazy, this is unfortunetely us doing the best we can, with what we have. As two writers, that isn't much! But I agree, it comes off super lazy. But at the same time, I believe it embodies indie filmmaking at its best. Using what you have around you.
Christopher W. Posted 7 months ago
(reposting this as it didn't seem to work last time) 59 other filmmakers have been able to come up with new material for each challenge - using what they have around them - and not all of them are effects heavy or Wes Anderson knock-offs. As for your previous film, the script and the acting were the weakest elements (the plot a rehash of tired formulas about women just-not-getting-it, featuring pop-culture references that feel dated and entire scenes that don't go anywhere. Also, it wasn't funny...) and most of the work on that project was done by a cast and crew who still have yet to be paid despite the success you've had with the film. This is not "indie filmmaking at its best". There are many examples of that within the Cinecoup challenge, demonstrated by those indie filmmakers willing to put in some effort.
If you look through the critiques of your project, you'll find it is pretty consistant - you need to put more effort into your challenges. Rather than work with this constructive criticism, you've opted instead to defend mediocrity. Try harder!
Jim M. Posted 7 months ago
Huh. At first, I didn't think I could come up with anything either. Then, boom - after a week of head scratching, came up with something that will promote the film, pump up the team, and eventually - probably - become content. President's Choice #4
Fabien W. Posted 7 months ago
You guys need to try harder, and also not insult the competition. At first it was funny but now it's becoming douchy.
