Really cool stuff guys! I thought you did well working with the "speechless" requirement. Hoping to see this film once it's made.
Landyn I. Posted 5 months ago
This is really cool! Good use of light and there is some good tension made here. Best of luck in the future - supporting Edmonton film!
Doug M. Posted 5 months ago
Wow! Stellar camera work, editing, and the sound was great. Definitely had me on the edge of my seat. Great suspense.
Kurt P. Posted 5 months ago
This is really cool! Good use of light and there is some good tension made here. Best of luck in the future - supporting Edmonton film!
Mikaela Z. Posted 5 months ago
I want to see more from this film. Loved the moody lighting and the cold harsh environment. It keeps you on edge the whole time
kael v. Posted 5 months ago
Interesting use of light. Very well lit considering the conditions of shooting at night. Good for you guys.
Annabelle H. Posted 5 months ago
The use of light is really cool in this video. Very well lit for the dark environment. I wish you guys made the top 10!
Zombetty B. Posted 6 months ago
Loved it. I found this to be very suspenseful and I found myself getting antsy for her escape. Congrats on making it to top 15!
Jennifer K. Posted 6 months ago
Hated the echoy sound behind the music, but felt the plot thincken...all the same as we unfold the scene in the nic of time.
Robert T. Posted 6 months ago
Really awesome job on this mission. I think the story is fascinating. And I also really loved the music!!
Martin V. Posted 6 months ago
The scenes were shot very well and the music was extremely fitting with the generic horror vibe to it.
Narelle S. Posted 6 months ago
Whenever I watch your guys performance you always keep my attention and me guessing what comes next. That's proof of a good movie concetp that always keeps the audience on their toes. Keep it coming
Amy L. Posted 6 months ago
Through each video I feel I learn more about the characters and what the movie will be about.
Lew D. Posted 6 months ago
If I told you this story happened once upon a time, would you believe it then?
Perhaps, perhaps not.
Whether you believe me or choose not to, it happened. There were two little girls, and a bear.
And that is all I know.
At least, it is all I know for certain. You were expecting more, weren't you?
One little girl was blonde, with skin white as snow, the other rosy and raven-tressed, so they say, but that doesn't seem very likely unless they weren't sisters at all, and I have always assumed they were sisters. I could tell you the girls were beautiful princesses who ran into the great dark forest to escape their wicked stepmother, or perhaps they were abandoned by their poor woodcutter father who could no longer afford to feed them but could not stand to see them starve, or perhaps they were just two ordinary little girls on their way to visit grandmother, over the river and through the woods, who strayed from the path to pick flowers and lost their way. Or did the bear come to them, knocking at the door polite as you please one dark winter night and asking to warm himself by their fire?
I think not. I think they went to him.

I expected more. This so not one of my favourites but will try you again later. This did not do it for me
Joe M. Posted 6 months ago
Well done. Scary. What talented people you are;)
Genevieve H. Posted 6 months ago
This clip definitely is suspenseful. The editing makes it feel scary. I like the dark shots and the moody lighting, it contributes to the vibe.
jane D. Posted 6 months ago
best of luck to u guys
Sabrina S. Posted 6 months ago
I found it very captivating, you have yhe audience rooting for your charactor. Looking frward to seeing what happens next.
Andrea B. Posted 7 months ago
Great scene. Love the score.
Rita R. Posted 7 months ago
I love this kind of suspense in a movie....can hardly wait for more
Melissa L. Posted 7 months ago
Aahh, so creepy! I love the use of sound design in this and I am REALLY interested in finding out what happens next!
Kelly B. Posted 7 months ago
Spooky!! So many possibilities here... what's she looking for? Who's after her? Why so secretive? She's searching through the trash... I really liked the sound differential when the man walks into the garage. Nice well lit shot of such a cute little house too. Nicely done.
Grayson W. Posted 7 months ago
Loved the scene, loved the trailer. Both my favourite entries in this competition are from Alberta, and you have to film in that snow! haha
Nikki S. Posted 7 months ago
Nice colours and really effective music. It almost functions well as a trailer in and of itself! Good job.
Jacki R. Posted 7 months ago
I'm not totally sure what's going on here, or exactly what point in the movie this occurs, but that's fine. It's making ask those questions, so I'm interested. Good enough.
Derek C. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome!
Joe B. Posted 7 months ago
Very well done, the scenery is really cool until it widens up and you see all the trees cut down. It's very sad, but I would love to see the final product of this Doc.
Peggy G. Posted 7 months ago
A great mission video. Very intense. This looks like a scene out of a high-budget movie. You guys did a wonderful job!
Maggie K. Posted 7 months ago
Nice job. Liked the pacing and editing. At times it was a bit dark, but that is the mood here. Left me with a bunch of questions about what's going on and where this fits, which I believe to be the intent.
Hiro W. Posted 7 months ago
This is okay. It's starting to wear thin on me now though.
Jake S. Posted 7 months ago
Hmm. This is okay for now, but if you want to capture the imagination of anyone beyond your hometown, you're going to need to bring something unique to the table. Right now, I don't see that.
Lizzy T. Posted 7 months ago
I like the shots. Detailed sound effects are good, and the background music sets the scene very well. well done.
Romy J. Posted 7 months ago
The yellow and blue colour contrasts are pretty nice! Sound design and music are well done but a little cliche?
Michael J. Posted 7 months ago
Wow so creepy! I think she must be hiding in the garbage bin, where else could she have gone? But now she's stuck in the garage...
Vance A. Posted 7 months ago
Great use of lights and dark. One pane glass window, inspired. Sound effects are unique is well ordered . I love the timing/editing of Gillian's reaction to hearing the sound of the man's approach and the door opening. I wondered if she really had time to get out or did she just hide and make it look like she fled...creepy! Super Suspense!
Kirk S. Posted 7 months ago
Great suspense... I really want to see this made into a movie. The artificial snow was a nice touch... oh wait, this was filmed in Edmonton in April. No need for artificial snow.
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
That's right! We had a huge drop of snow the week of filmming, just so people know we're doing this fresh every week!
Daisy F. Posted 7 months ago
lots of tension, lots of suspense, just the right amount of blood. looks creepy and I'm scared! Well done you guys.
Denise D. Posted 7 months ago
You are definitely building tension by creating lots of questions for the viewer to wonder about..... where is she hiding? (but I don't want to know)
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
That's the fun part, guessing!
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Glad to see people get what we're doing. As we said before, imagine what we could do with money! Everyone has been super generous with their ideas and suggestions, we're listening and so grateful for all the feedback! Thanks!
Amy S. Posted 7 months ago
I'm still at a loss at the overwhelmingly positive response to this project. The concept is tired but they've substituted vikings for zombies, vampires, etc. and other than the lead, the acting has been borderline laughable. I think a few of these commenters need to check out some of the other 59 projects for comparison. Gheesh!
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
I think you need to watch the film BAMBI.
Aiden C. Posted 7 months ago
Well as a fan who has watched every speechless entry I will say GJR is one of the top entries in this mission. As for your other comments I understand some of them but horror in general is cliche and it is the execution that is key. This scene was very well shot and the sound design well done. As for acting not really a issue since the winning team can hire actors for all the roles. The actors in the trailers do not have to be the ones in the final movie. I have no idea what GJR team's plans are for casting just saying that I personally have not being judging the projects as hard in the acting category. I am more interested to see what type of filmmakers they are and if they can make a shot look good and professional.
Walter H. Posted 7 months ago
I'll pass on this one.
Cinnamon C. Posted 7 months ago
The actors really nailed it. I loved the intensity and the music brought so much.
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much Cinnamon! We can't wait for the next challenge too!
Wanda S. Posted 7 months ago
When the camera pans the tools it would be nice if it focused on a small garden cultivator tool that could make bear scratches or paw marks. especially if it looks recently sharpened.
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Great idea Wanda! We totally should have captured that, and we had such tools. That's a miss.
Ken K. Posted 7 months ago
I think this movie has a very strong chance, it looks really great, the editing looks great and the the effects look even better, I can't wait until it comes out.
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Ken! We're pushing forward regardless of the CineCoup outcome. This competition has really helped us just go for it, so we'll have made any way we can!
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Hhahah! I love that everyone has so many great ideas of what's happening in this story. Keep them coming! It's great!
Donald Y. Posted 7 months ago
Scary. It looks like a good scene from a movie I'd want to see. Nicely filmed.
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much Don!
Ryan S. Posted 7 months ago
The score knows when to swell and when to take the backseat to the awesome sounds of rooting around in a pitch-black garage. Awesome.
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Ryan! The music is so dramatic, perhaps a little much, but with 90 seconds it's go hard or go home, right?
Sarah P. Posted 7 months ago
Gillian is obviously snooping somewhere she shouldn't be. Uggh the tension! Or did she want him to trap her in the house?
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
All good questions Sarah! Guess you'll just have to wait and see.
Shannon E. Posted 7 months ago
There’s so many great movie concepts out there and this one is one of my favourites! Your team has talent. Good luck!
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Shannon! We're working really hard each week, glad we've kept you interested!
Shannon P. Posted 7 months ago
The sound makes up for the lack of speech. Not only is the production great, but the acting is believable. You definitely nailed this mission video!
Angela G. Posted 7 months ago
I think Gillian is looking for bait to trap the bear that is after her. Although she knows she knows he is in close proximity, she has a strong need to be the hero. Good thing she's fast and ninja-like because he is on to her strategy.
Shannon E. Posted 7 months ago
For a movie concept, I feel as though this is a movie I could watch over and over again. Great job on this mission video! Can’t wait to see what else comes from this project.
BrknDishes B. Posted 7 months ago
Ooo, Jillian is brave. She's also not very squeamish. That's a lot of blood to touch with bare hands. . . Good work building up the dramatic tension. The night-time videotaping is also well done.
John K. Posted 7 months ago
soundscape was very good... nice choice on the music and editing... I liked the mood and the feel of the scene... keep up the good work.
Oscar T. Posted 7 months ago
The soundtrack is great, love what you have chosen here. Shadows and lighting are great too. Great job
John K. Posted 7 months ago
The SUV in the beginning was clearly photoshopped...
I kid :) A classic horror trope, but regardless, really well done. Great execution on sound and cinematography.
Jason M. Posted 7 months ago
The soundtrack is excellent. The music is used well to really enhance the tension. Also the lighting in the final shot is superb. The long shadows draw your eyes all along the room.
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Jason, our DOP David Baron is all about lighting and really likes to play with shadows.
Luke S. Posted 7 months ago
Good suspenseful sequence! As soon as you hear the music and see the snooping, you know the clock is ticking. Nicely cut! (Agree it's a pretty bad killer that leaves evidence lying around, but hey, there's a lot of bad killers.) Team #Starkers
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
True! But IS HE the killer? IS IT blood? Maybe he's just sloppy with the tomato sauce... I guess we'll have to wait and see...
Luke S. Posted 7 months ago
Spaghetti in bed just kills ya every time... *such* a bad idea! ;)
Looking forward to more!
Todd M. Posted 7 months ago
Wow... Nicely done Lindsey... As you already said.. you and Lowell and Bernie will have to grab a beer and I'll have to crash... AGAIN rooting for you.. :)
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Done! I've already been to Regina for a Riders Game so if I'm in the neighbourhood, do I just HOWL at the moon?
Rob B. Posted 7 months ago
Super tension, well done! Cool lighting as usual
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Rob!
Donal O. Posted 7 months ago
Gillian could feel her heart racing as he walked away. As the door slammed, she gasped for air but a fetid stench washed over her, causing her to gag. She recoils from behind the garbage cans and as she stands, she sees a sticky substance all over her hands...
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Donal we might have to hire you to work on the script!
Donal O. Posted 7 months ago
I'm in. I'm going to call one of the characters bunny-poo-poo though, just to appeal to the reality tv crowd.
Jexx M. Posted 7 months ago
Definitely worth checking out!
Tawni B. Posted 7 months ago
Alright so as far as I can tell, Gillian has a suspect in mind. She decides to take things into her own hands, probably because no one believes her suspect could do such a thing, she conducts the search on her own. When she actually finds something, she's got to have taken it with her. Buddy comes home, Gillian hears the car pull up, she puts everything back, lifts up the garage door and rolls out. Buddy hears the door being opened, at which time goes to check it out, Gillian's already peaced but not without leaving something behind..maybe. Am I close? Is Buddy the priest?
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Good job Tawni! You've got it! But the ending... the suspect, who he is, what he has to hide... you'll have to WAIT! Bawhahahah! (evil laugh)
Danny M. Posted 7 months ago
Good stuff, guys. Good tension and well shot. It helps having a mad scientist behind the scenes (Baron, you still look like John Mayer to me- this is still a good thing).
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
John Mayer? Really?
Colin T. Posted 7 months ago
the music does its job here. it built the suspense throughout the whole scene, i'm glad she didn't get caught,
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
Nice! I liked the way the tension built up to the end. The sound was a bit room-y but other than that very technically sound! Great work!
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Shane. The Garage was actually really empty, so sound can be tricky. Just think what we could do with money, huh? Wink Wink...
Shane L. Posted 7 months ago
I hear ya! One million dollars...think of all the monsters you could add. Maybe even some robots!
Ally P. Posted 7 months ago
Really well edited to build the suspense. And might I add - your lead character looks a lot like Julianne Moore from certain angles. Definite plus.
Joan M. Posted 7 months ago
The music helped build the suspense and tension. Felt my heart racing and made me want to see more.
Nathan M. Posted 7 months ago
The classic horror clock scene is always one of my favourites. The count down of when the killer is coming in and do you have enough time to hide? Always a crowd pleaser.
Su P. Posted 7 months ago
I think you did a good job. At the end I really wanted to know where the girl was hidden. Was she in the garbage can?
Travis B. Posted 7 months ago
Perhaps when the feature is made you can find out ;)
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Ooh I like it Travis. Keep it mysterious!
Tim T. Posted 7 months ago
Good stuff! Music may have been a tad strong in my opinion, but I get the tension you're aiming to build and think overall you were successful! Looking forward to seeing more.
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
I can see what you mean Tim. In the future, we'd like to have a local artist create something just for the scene.
Gill R. Posted 7 months ago
Hitchcockian is definitely the word to describe this clip, particularly the lighting and the music. Love how dark it all looks.
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
And our Fritz Lang lighting at the end is pretty cool too huh?
Danielle M. Posted 7 months ago
You did a great job on building suspense in this video. Nice use of light and darkness, especially with the flashlights. You have a very ‘Hitchcockian’ vibe going on.
Michelle G. Posted 7 months ago
Great job with this mission. Good soundtrack - love the slamming of the garage door. Very suspenseful and some really great shots - good showcase of your abilities.
Derek H. Posted 7 months ago
Music is fitting & scene is nicely timed. As has been mentioned before, it would be nice to have something that ties the guy in the car to the house, so we know that he's coming to where she is. Really well done though team!
Reginald R. Posted 7 months ago
Looks great, sounds great, Gillian is HOT! This will be another great flick to come out of Deadmonton
Sarah N. Posted 7 months ago
Looking good. Cant wait to see more. The music was perfect. I liked the slamming of the garage door.
Derick M. Posted 7 months ago
my notes on this, i felt my interest sliding in want she was doing as it was a little slow and didnt feel dangerous despite the music. should have had her breaking in so we knew the danger. other note would be to be wary of foot scrape sounds on concrete (when he entered and went through) step is fine, but that scrap/slide sound of dragging feet is very grating on the ears.
Afzal H. Posted 7 months ago
Great use of music! The soundtrack of the sequence creates the suspense more than the visuals and the edit. Good job guys.
Paula B. Posted 7 months ago
She's a babe.
patricia s. Posted 7 months ago
good music, scary stuff though
Jenna R. Posted 7 months ago
Yuck! Seriously stop touching that! A sloppy killer leaves bloody sheets in the garbage can. I'm guessing he's going to get caught
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Hahah! It's pretty gross, I agree!
Mikaela C. Posted 7 months ago
Nod to your Cheap Tricks vid: You guys and your clever lighting... Also, love the vicious, guillotine-like closing of the garage door. -- Team Rabbit
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Mikaela! That's my fave part too.
Renee D. Posted 7 months ago
The music is great and really builds the suspense! I could feel the adrenaline building in my body and had the desire to plug my ears because I was freaking out! Nice camera work too! Wondering what she's doing in the garage???
Lawrence T. Posted 7 months ago
Great speechless clip. Scary stuff. Who is that guy with the glasses? Why is Gillian looking for bloody clothes in his garage? What happens next? I need answers!!
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
I know Lawrence! We hope to give you answers, soon!
Samantha L. Posted 7 months ago
Wow! Stellar camera work, editing, and the sound was great. Definitely had me worried for Gillian.
Lesley C. Posted 7 months ago
Woah, super creepy and suspenseful!
Brenda T. Posted 7 months ago
WOW! Awesome music and sound design. That made me shiver for sure. Nice work on capturing a full garage.
Steven H. Posted 7 months ago
That suspense was so palpable that goosebumps were dancing on my spine. I didn't know if Gillian was going to get away or if the bespectacled man was going to catch her. I need to go fear pee now...
Lesley C. Posted 7 months ago
You fear pee a lot, don't you? ;)
Steven H. Posted 6 months ago
NO! I didn't fear pee when I watched Evil Dead. I went with someone else since YOU were too scared. :)
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
Whenever you say "fear pee" I think about my old dog who got too excited on the floor. Hahah!
Steven H. Posted 6 months ago
That's the purest definition of the word. Old dogs and their lack of control.
Jay R. Posted 7 months ago
Really loved this scene. The story and the genre lend themselves well to the Speechless Mission. Great job guys!
Paula D. Posted 7 months ago
The suspense in the speechless clip is tangible. Great lighting and sound effects made the clip watchable with a raised heart rate. Well done guys.
Thomas A. Posted 7 months ago
Really great selection of music! It really helped to build the suspense. It would have been cool if the old guy got all upset that his garage was open and turned into a werebear! But is he a werebear! AHRG Gotta give me more!
Aiden C. Posted 7 months ago
Well done on creating a great look. The last shot in the clip had a nice composition to it. Overall captured the mood well though the sound was a little to much at points.
Elle B. Posted 7 months ago
Good luck some impressive shots, like the build up, can't wait to see more from you, create suspense
Gianna I. Posted 7 months ago
Great job making this scene suspenseful. Love the shot of the man walking up to the house! (Team Rosalind Revenge)
Eleanor M. Posted 7 months ago
Builds it up makes you want to see more!!! I like the tone and the shots in this clip, good luck to you
Ian T. Posted 7 months ago
The sound design set the tone perfectly. And I love the ending! Was Gillian hiding in the garbage can? - Team Stream
Glenn L. Posted 7 months ago
I like the music, mood and pace -it raises questions -is he the bad guy? I'd like to see where this goes...
Leta P. Posted 7 months ago
Love the thriller music, definitely sets the mood
Cooper B. Posted 7 months ago
Nice work gang! Love that final dangling shot at the end. On an unrelated sidenote, it's kind of annoying that they enabled ads on these videos. What's the deal!? Anyway, great work!
Thomas A. Posted 7 months ago
Agree! Get rid of the ADs
Shannon M. Posted 7 months ago
Suspenseful, some nice shots, music is good, it was a bit hard to follow but a second watch helped a bit
Oliver K. Posted 7 months ago
Blame the knocked over Garbage on the "bear"
Thomas A. Posted 7 months ago
Those damn bears!
Brenda M. Posted 7 months ago
Bit of suspense building but I thought its was a bit of a typical scene that you might see in a lot of movies.
Dennis B. Posted 7 months ago
I liked this one, nice music and building of suspense. You're on the right track, but we already know who the bad guy is!
Christopher W. Posted 7 months ago
Great use of suspense, what with having just a single character in a garage. Only thing I'd recommend would be MORE BLOOD on the sheets.
Olivia H. Posted 7 months ago
I like the shooting and music. Good concept however ended too soon. Needed a bit more suspense. Did not intrigue or scare like I had hoped
Jim M. Posted 7 months ago
Had to watch the sequence twice to figure it out. Guy in car gets home, just missing girl finding blood stained rag in his garbage. Trouble is, we don't see the guy in the car is heading for the girl, so there is no suspense
Jane M. Posted 7 months ago
That got my adrenalin going! Nice building of suspense. What happens next? Did Gillian hide in that garbage can? Must see more...
