This looks really good excellent work team. It's no wonder that you made it as far as you have. Keep up the good work!
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks so much! We sincerely appreciate the kind words.
James D. Posted 5 months ago
The scene said a lot with just the visuals. Good job.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks so much!
sharon j. Posted 5 months ago
haha funny and touching. nicely done team! Patrick did a great job in conveying many feelings and/or states of mind in this! I feel for the dude!!
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you. So weird tho considering he has no feelings in real life! ; )
Andrew O. Posted 5 months ago
Great scene! You have really shown the emotional soft side of Dave. I sure hope it doesn't tarnish his jackass image.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
It's gonna take a lot of brillo to get the shine on him back!
Lee V. Posted 5 months ago
This reveals quite a bit about the main character. Shows how his life is a mess and he knows it. He seems like he'd love to just leave it all behind. This has made me second guess this movie's direction. Good job guys.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
I can assure you my friend that there is much more to the feature than apparent in just the trailer! Thanks for the kind words!
Mike Q. Posted 5 months ago
Oh yeah, Wolf Cop has some competition too....
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
We love the Wolf Cop. We're different from what they're offering tho. We're not the camp you many suspect and that's the biggest surprise of all! A movie with a lot of heart. Thanks for the comment!
Henry O. Posted 5 months ago
so this could be a movie that i might enjoy. i like a lot of the stuff involved in this movie but not my thing.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
There's a lot more to the movie than you may expect Henry! Thanks for the comment!
Mitch B. Posted 5 months ago
Great setup for your plot, and the sound work is very well done. Nice work.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks a ton Mitch!
victor l. Posted 5 months ago
When you are throwing your ring away, do you really need to make a speech about it! Hell "No", that's what is so great about this speechless clip.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
At least he got it back! She could walked with the thing and bought herself a new bicycle!
Frank C. Posted 5 months ago
Although this is the speechless video, there seems to be an extensive amount of attention given to the subtle sights and sounds that make this scene great.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
That's what we were going for! Thanks so much!
Ann G. Posted 5 months ago
I'm going out on a limb...but is that a hoodie in homage to Elloit of ET fame. If so, well done Grangers!
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
It is indeed!
Ang C. Posted 5 months ago
Well shot scene. I really enjoyed the ending with the morse code. I'm just thinking that it could have done without the sound effect with the blue flashing light. Sometimes less is more. Awesome work!!!
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you so much!
Tessa V. Posted 5 months ago
I thought the scene was really touching, it made me feel sad for dave, but I thought the sound effects we're a bit too harsh and I found myself focused on the sound of the paper and such more than on dave's reaction, but still really great!
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you Tessa!
Kathy L. Posted 5 months ago
Dave! I love this shows multiple emotions. Good choice in music! Top 5 for sure! Can't wait to see more.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you Kathy! We're very close to finding out!
Todd A. Posted 5 months ago
You really let people into the character in a few short minutes. Well done. Good luck in the next round of voting!
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks so much sir!
Maureen M. Posted 5 months ago
What an awesome scene. You really feel Dave's emotions in this. This film has more than just butt hole humor.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
We showed you the butthole...now see the heart. Hahaha!
Iris O. Posted 5 months ago
It's amazing what you have accomplished here with no dialogue. Although Dave at first seems like a very shallow character, this scene displays his many layers. #davehasaheart
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
Dave is an onion. He stinks. And then he peels off some skin and then....oh I can't remember how it goes.
MAK138 K. Posted 5 months ago
Great clip - Dave seems to be at a very low point in his life; a guy who needs an escape from this planet more than anyone. Let's hope this poor guy gets what he wants in the end.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
He's going to get something...perhaps not what he wants as much as what he needs!
Rob H. Posted 5 months ago
interesting, great setup.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you Rob! There's a lot of sincerity in the script that this scene helped us show beyond the trailer.
Celene C. Posted 5 months ago
I thought the opening scene would really allow us to see the beginning of the abduction, but I like how it referenced the history just in the brief pictures captured in the first few minutes, looks good
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks Celene, we thought letting people get to know Dave a little better was a great way to work this mission. Thank you so much for watching!
Alexa B. Posted 5 months ago
Dave falls in love with his alien "friend" but turns out to just be his weird neighbour in a costume "Dave?" "...Steve!?" #fanfiction
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
HAhaha! Nooooooo!!! Steeeeeeeve!!!
Rob V. Posted 5 months ago
I particularly like the ringtone for the collections guy. Well done Mikey and Matt! Collecting my votes for you.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
That's from our good pals "Take Drugs". Awesome awesome band from Toronto with some of the boys from Triggerhappy. Killer.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
The song is called "I Hate the World Today" - fitting for Dave.
Ralph M. Posted 5 months ago
So then when Dave finally finds the ring he sells it and he and the alien buy illegal drugs & forget the apocalypse? #FanFiction
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
They go all Breaking Bad and stock up on Sinutab.
Jolene K. Posted 5 months ago
not what I expected
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
There's a whole bunch more in the film that won't be apparent in the trailer. The cool thing about Cinecoup is that we were able to create a simple trailer the stated our central question and were able to build upon it since. Much more to come in the screenplay. Thanks for the comment Jolene.
Sean R. Posted 5 months ago
awesome scene guys, good luck with the rest of the competition, alien abduction to go through to the top 5!
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks a ton Sean! We seriously appreciate the support!
Brenden K. Posted 5 months ago
This scene worked extremely well! I quite liked it. I think this project has a ton of potential. Keep up the good work.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
Thank you so much once again for your awesome remarks Brenden! The universe we've created in the screenplay will undoubtedly tickle you pink and make you pleased as punch! Thanks again!!
Doug M. Posted 5 months ago
Cute! I am beginning to like this project. Loved the blinking light and the set up to it.
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
I'm absolutely looking forward to bringing you more of the same in the feature script Doug! Thanks so much for your support!
Mary L. Posted 5 months ago
Camera zooms in on the blue light flashing in the sky to discover the boy in the plastic bubble (remember john travolta?)...
Matty G. Posted 5 months ago
How could I forget!??
Adrian R. Posted 6 months ago
I really like the costumes, whoever was in charge of production design should really be commended. Great use of colour.
I think that your guys movie premis over all if very funny and has potential. I really am impressed that all of the sound was created in post. I am extremely impressed with the sounds. So good on you.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you so much. Our post team really pulled together on this one. Proud of them!
Ross W. Posted 6 months ago
Didn't care for the trailer originally....I think this scene gives good exposition on the character though
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Ross!
Gael M. Posted 6 months ago
This movie's going to be hilarious. I can't wait. Peter New is one of my favorite Vancouver comidians.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you Gael! Can't wait to show you the madness we've written into the script! Peter is absolutely amazing. Many thanks!
Matt A. Posted 6 months ago
I was already interested in this project but this little segment made me understand Dave much more and it was humorous to boot, especially at the end. I wish you the best oi luck! I would love to see this even more now!
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks so much! There's a lot more to the film that meets the eye so far. Can't wait to show you!
Kreme T. Posted 6 months ago
That is pretty funny! Clean set up of this screw-up guy and the flashlight ufo moment at the end is, pardon the pun, brilliant.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Pun allowed! Ha! Many thanks for the comment!
Simon P. Posted 6 months ago
I really really like the idea of this film and if the one with my daughter in doesnt make it, I hope this one does!
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Best of luck to her and many thanks to you Simon!
Zaul M. Posted 6 months ago
Simple yet quite effective. Does a good job of showing the project is more complex, and actually has a bit of range which is great in a comedy.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Zaul. There's a lot more where this came from. I truly think you'll enjoy the feature as it has a lot of heart. Thanks again.
Vance A. Posted 6 months ago
I love the conflict Dave is going through here. The disbelief of the extensive "Dear John" letter. The picture and his reaction both are so worth the rewind. Good luck, I would love to see this made!
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you so much Vance! This has been my favourite mission to date. Just writing it alone was a great exploration and Patrick really pulled it off. Thanks again!
Simon P. Posted 6 months ago
they are here!
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
They are indeed!!!
Ron K. Posted 6 months ago
In the Speechless clip I get to meet Dave. I like Dave. He seems to me like a regular guy. Okay. So his girl goes to great length to document why she’s ditched him (what’s up with that? Holy high maintenance ;-), she doesn’t think he’s serious enough, needs to grow up; well, the world has too many serious people, so now I like Dave even more. He pitches the ring just when the bill collector calls—awesome! I’m loving this even more. Dave goes scurrying after the ring, then realises—what the f**k, and lies on his back and “talks” to the universe with his flashlight then realises he’s maybe crazy (now I really love Dave)—or is he? Nice fade away, now I really want to see this movie. Good luck guys!
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Ron, this is a great comment. I love that you get exactly the sentiment behind it all. Thank you so much for such a great comment. I can't wait to show you how this all works out for Dave. GHA! So much yet to come! Thanks again!
Panta M. Posted 6 months ago
I loved the trailer and i loved the speechless video as well. You guys never cease to amaze me. I love the concept of this movie !!! Im a big fan now :)
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Oh wow. What a great comment to read. Thank you so very much. We truly appreciate it!
Alexandra S. Posted 6 months ago
I didn't love the trailer as much as I love the Speechless video. This video sold me on your project 10 fold! Awesome casting on the main character and super well done video.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you so much. There's a whole lot more to this film than just a glimpse in the trailer that's for sure!
Timario M. Posted 6 months ago
Its a silly set up (i mean that affectionately). This guy is the model for humanity!!?? Ii's funny (and disturbing) to think that this man represents an alarming portion of our population. So i suppose its a fair shake!
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Timario. He's not a bad guy...he's just an average guy put into an extraordinary situation. It plays nicely in the screenplay. Thanks again for your support!
Huaguang S. Posted 6 months ago
nice to meet dave prior to the alien 'revelation' -- if it is very soon after this scene, no wonder his reaction is...interesting
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
It's all building the character and the story to find Dave in a very interesting predicament indeed! Thanks for the comment!
jane D. Posted 6 months ago
very good
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you Jane!
Zaid L. Posted 6 months ago
I liked it, music could have been a bit better but that is my preference. I agree that with a poster below that you could have developed the character a little more. Good job so far and keep it up!
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Zaid!
PadfootPanda S. Posted 6 months ago
I liked it, I felt I was able to connect with the character especially in the tearing up part. His girlfriend, oops I mean now ex girlfriend is harsh. Come Dave save the world & show her what she gave up.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
We'll see how Dave's love life pans out in the feature perhaps??
Zhong Z. Posted 6 months ago
What his girlfriend did is just nasty! Sure hope he gets to be very heroic...and saves the world! That'll show her, and the rest of us
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
I have a feeling Dave has a bit of a challenge ahead of him!
Cameron W. Posted 6 months ago
just been totally ditzed by his girlfriend--truly harsh. He's not quite as emotionally stunted as we at first assume though--great scene
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Cameron! Dave stinks. Like an onion. And has layers like....wait I think I messed this up.
William F. Posted 6 months ago
fascinated by the incredible divergence of opinion expressed here regarding the acting...here's my two cents...dave seems very real to me and am looking forward to seeing more
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks William. We really appreciate that!
Dinah H. Posted 6 months ago
I loved the acting! I really empathized with the character- especially towards the end when he was tearing up! I also love that the scene really defied expectations. Way to go!
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you Dinah. Patrick is an excellent actor. Look him up on IMDB at: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1112955/
Melanie O. Posted 6 months ago
I really tried to keep an open mind and like it but it just not do it for me and the acting was weak, expression, movement etc.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
I'll pass along your comments. Thanks for watching Melanie.
Christina M. Posted 6 months ago
I can't wait to see how this plays out. It looks like it could turn into a really interesting movie.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks so much Christina. Lots more to come!
jerry lee c. Posted 7 months ago
Better acting could take this one very far. Acting involves your entire being., you must become the character you are portraying
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks for watching JL!
Carolyn D. Posted 7 months ago
I think some of the over exaggerated facial expressions in the beginning ruined what could have been a great opportunity to give your character some more depth.. even if it is a comedy people still need to like your characters!
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
I'll pass that along! Thanks for watching Carolyn!
Ann B. Posted 7 months ago
really like the story and characterization being presented here; maybe alien will help dave 'communicate' - blink
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
We can sure hope!
Grayson W. Posted 7 months ago
Glad there's another dimension to this character, gotta admit didnt like the trailer much. I feel like the movie would be better without the alien thing haah
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Hahaha. Then it would be like Clint Eastwood talking to that empty chair again. We all know how that went over! Thanks man.
tess o. Posted 7 months ago
yah-this is a great little story, very well shot and acted--maybe the alien will help Dave with his love life too?
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Dave has a lot to learn methinks!
Tyrath B. Posted 7 months ago
loved this -- it reveals aspects of Dave's character in a humourous way and is a wee story on its own--very nice
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you Tyrath!
Trish M. Posted 7 months ago
Accomplished the mission nicely. I like that it was a completely different scene from the trailer, sharing a little more of Dave's character and pulling us into the set up for the inevitable meeting of the alien. Does the alien find the ring for him? Good job!
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
We actually do have an answer to that question, but I dont want to spoil the movie for you!
Merle P. Posted 7 months ago
Your approach to the missions show that you have your heart in this project
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Most certainly Merle. Many thanks!
luke k. Posted 7 months ago
I really like that in all your missions you are able to give new material. Look forward to seeing what come next.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Lots more to come Luke. Many thanks!
Natalia N. Posted 7 months ago
Aww this made me laugh but also feel sad. I liked it! Great acting.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you Natalia!
Pepper S. Posted 7 months ago
Nicely done. Good luck.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you Pepper!
Marina N. Posted 7 months ago
Excellent contrast to your trailer! I love that you were able to show us a completely different look at your film through this scene. Great work!
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks a ton Marina!
Frank C. Posted 7 months ago
Very well acted Patrick! I'm impressed the story you can tell in 90 seconds. Great job guys! Looking forward to your next installment.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Frank! Stay tuned!
Nancy R. Posted 7 months ago
Liked the facial expressions and body language of the character. Interested to see where this leads to next.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks! There are definitely some twists and turns in Dave's future!
olive f. Posted 7 months ago
love this guy. what a character and acted so well. love seeing so much in an actor's face. this is great
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks again Olive!
XinLi H. Posted 7 months ago
I'm interested in seeing how the plot goes from here. It tells us so much about the Dave's personal life in a way and how it's affecting him.
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
There's a bumpy road ahead for our hero!
Suvi P. Posted 7 months ago
All in all a great scene. I like that the music doesn't start from the beginning of the scene. It leaves more room for people watching to actually figure out what is going on with Dave through acting. And Patrick is brilliant in it!
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you so much Suvi!
Cam L. Posted 7 months ago
Love this character... he so perfectly portrays the 'every-guy'... as always great execution and fantastic concepts from this team! keep up the great work guys!!
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you Cam! Glad youre liking the direction!
Carol B. Posted 7 months ago
so well done--we so get this guy, Dave the 'loser', but not--laying there blinking his flashlight at the moon, but no 'answer' in return--so sweet
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you Carol.
Christopher L. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome scene guys.. not surprised though with such a great team. Can't wait to see what you guys do next. Keep it up. Cheers
Matty G. Posted 6 months ago
Thank you so much. we truly appreciate it.
Patrick C. Posted 7 months ago
I love this film concept and this scene played quite well. It could have been a little slower and more deliberate, staying on in each shot a little longer. Not much but a little. Also, where did the torch come from so fast? The music was great. My last comment is that I am not a fan of leading men with facial hair, it hides expression.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
I couldn't aree with you more Patrick. If we had just a few more seconds we could've really let the emotional beats hang and really hit home. We just really didn't want to exceed the 90 seconds rule. As a matter of fact, we used every last frame possible. Thanks for liking it!
Patrick C. Posted 7 months ago
I am a big fan of Patrick Gilmore so congrats on getting him. He is such a skilled actor. I am really excited about this film.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much. He's an awesome guy and a good pal.
Tina B. Posted 7 months ago
Really good introduction to the mindset of the main character. Now I'm expecting a love story or a not love story.
Ian R. Posted 7 months ago
I can't believe he just flicked that ring away. The bitch did just dump him but he probably spent a lot on that thing.
Lee H. Posted 7 months ago
Definitely liked the concept here, it was a little too contrived though, wasn't creative enough for a non-dialogue scene. However I lived the ending though, and kinda felt his pain.
Janelle S. Posted 7 months ago
This has probably been one of the funniest speechless ones Ive seen yet. I though there was humor and heart
Bill G. Posted 7 months ago
NO hesitation to put my 32 votes behind ALIEN ABDUCTION! On to Top 40!
Ryan A. Posted 7 months ago
Can't wait till it hits the theatre. Hit me up when it does!
Casey G. Posted 7 months ago
Nice work with the dear John letter. Good motivation for a scene without dialogue. I especially liked the subtle light flash response at the end.
Warren B. Posted 7 months ago
Before, with just the trailer I wasn't really convinced about the movie. Now i think that you guys showed (groan... sorry... 'some heart') I'm a lot more on board. I love butt jokes fine and good, but this is pretty sweet. Good work.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
There's a whole lot more to the film that meets the eye with just the trailer. We really hope to do more scenes in the upcoming challenges! Thanks so much for digging it!
Patrick M. Posted 7 months ago
This is a beautiful little scene! I lol'd pretty hard when the pictures came out. The audio engineering on this film is pretty remarkable too!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks a ton Patrick! We did a full pass of post sound. Everything (aside from Dave's laugh) was created in the studio.
Kyle M. Posted 7 months ago
Poor dave, screw chicks anyways all he needs is some alien to cheer him up. I would have liked to see more than one scene in this mission.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
I'm sincerely hoping we get to do more!
Clayton P. Posted 7 months ago
So this is Dave's rock bottom moment before the weird blue alien comes and causes him to change his life around? Not a bad beginning! Certainly sets up the main character.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Clayton! Much appreciated!
Katherine H. Posted 7 months ago
Good luck, guys! I'll be rooting for you.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you Katherine! We really appreciate it!
Colin T. Posted 7 months ago
haha god why did he throw the ring away at the worst time possible. Well put together scene guys nice job.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much Colin!
Gavin M. Posted 7 months ago
I feel that what the extensive documentation needed was some pie charts. Or graphs! Nice teaser to the story!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
There are algorhythms in his email inbox I'm sure.
Cloee C. Posted 7 months ago
this video is pretty amusing, i like the connections with the aliens using the flashlight !!!!!!!!!! YEEEEBUDDYYYY
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Hahahaha! YEEEEBUDDYYYY! Possibly the best comment ever.
Sarah T. Posted 7 months ago
poor guy. althought it seems he may have had it coming. still, thats ALOT of reasons. one or two solid ones usually suffice lol
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Let's just say Lindsay had to put up with a lot!
Nikki W. Posted 7 months ago
You already know you guys are rad. This is going to be one kick ass film! This has got to be made, I want to know more!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Hopefully we get to do more scenes!
Kevin P. Posted 7 months ago
You guys always seem to make me laugh! I'm happy to see this side of this idea. Your sound was great. Everything was soft and not overbearing, it let your brain think about the character
Mandy G. Posted 7 months ago
It just keeps getting better everytime I watch it. Patrick is awesome!
Milan J. Posted 7 months ago
Very entertaining, you did a fantastic job of telling a lot of story without dialogue, and I can really see this in your film:)
Shaelyn L. Posted 7 months ago
Cool. This opening scene easily made your main character sympathetic, and there's enough going on that I want to know more about his journey. Good job :)
Dianne S. Posted 7 months ago
Great scene! I loved the massive list of reasons for leaving, it made me wonder just how bad he was. When he was holding the ring, I thought "don't throw it, sell it!", so it was funny to see the rest.
david p. Posted 7 months ago
Great job really liked the concept behind the mission had a lot of potential and left m wanting more
Dana B. Posted 7 months ago
Very cure scene! It's a very nice, sentimental contrast to the very campy trailer. It proves there is a lot more to this film than meets the eye!
Dahae S. Posted 7 months ago
Great to see that this sentimental layer of the movie exists, it still has humour in it which is nice
Daniel H. Posted 7 months ago
I really like the emotion created by the character. It feels like it takes place at the beginning of the film, which creates a lot of potential for the rest of the film.
Kaitlyn M. Posted 7 months ago
Hm, definitely an intriguing scene. Excellent use of no dialogue!
You've got such strong elements stemming from both the emotional/romantic side of the breakup, but also the comedy of Dave's character and the situation as a whole. My only trouble is just with how the elements fit together - I found the jumps between the two to be a bit harsh in this scene.
I love what you've established in Dave as a character. Consistent, yet complex and believable. A solid basis for the film you've set up.
Daniel F. Posted 7 months ago
Really cool! I loved how well this set up Dave's character, and you guys seemed to have set up an excellent storyline for this one!
Curtis B. Posted 7 months ago
Dave appears to be clueless not only in his relationship but in life itself. What it would be like to not have a care in the world and to think that will all change when he meets an alien.
Danny L. Posted 7 months ago
Diffrent opening with what looks like a romantic scene from the girl friend turns out to be about an abduction
Roman G. Posted 7 months ago
Dave? As we say in germany "Alles f***n außer Mutti!" I realy like how you can see the thoughts expressions on the face. Great acting.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Oh wow. Thank you Roman. You should check out the other things Patrick has done!
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1112955/
Tanya G. Posted 7 months ago
LOL, the opening scene was priceless. The list of reasons she is leaving makes you think it is a romance. Then the fact that it is about an abduction makes a good twist.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Tanya!!
Donal O. Posted 7 months ago
I really enjoyed this scene. It showed us how you can flesh out the movie and really weave a story that will sell on the big screen. Good job
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you so much Donal! If we had a few more seconds we could've really let some of the emotional beats hang, but we think we told the story pretty well! Thanks so much for the comment!
Penny E. Posted 7 months ago
I laughed at all the pages of reasons she was leaving him. After that I wasn't sure what was happeing.
Sage B. Posted 7 months ago
Super super fun, I love how the list is like 5 pages long, ultimate uber dump:) Fun stuff, and great score - SCAM
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks man! I've been dumped like that a few times! HA!
Michael S. Posted 7 months ago
What a great scene. Excellent job on the sound design. The more I see of this movie the more I want it to get made.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you Michael! The support means a ton to us.
Bari D. Posted 7 months ago
I think Alien Abduction is going to a lot of fun
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
HA! Thanks!! I can virtually guarantee it!
Rose L. Posted 7 months ago
Amazing job on your mission guys. I loved this scene. Very funny, touching and fits right in line with what we know about your film. I can't wait to see more in the coming weeks. Congrats from #LDRfilm
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much Rose! I really really appreciate your kind words.
Keri M. Posted 7 months ago
Well done! Great to see another side to the story developing...funny and campy with real heart added to the story,
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Keri! Lots more interesting twists to come.
Holly F. Posted 7 months ago
good job. It's comic and yet there is the suspense of what's to come. simply and well done. good job.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much Holly. Sometimes you don't have to shoot a lot to show a lot.
Cheryl G. Posted 7 months ago
Love it...can't wait to see the movie!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Hahah! Me neither!! Thanks Cheryl!!
Cheryl G. Posted 6 months ago
How do you personalize the photo on your account? I'm using an iPhone. :(
Jac r. Posted 7 months ago
I don't know…i like it, but you sort of cheated and used a lot of text on screen. Still, it's pretty funny.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Jac!
Dawn B. Posted 7 months ago
Nicely done. It's like a brand new trailer all over again but without dialogue! Honestly, so well put together it doesn't need any!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Oh wow! Thanks so very much!
Jay R. Posted 7 months ago
Nice work fellas - absolutely love the morse code bit - this scene seems to illustrate that there is heart and wit in the concept beyond the super funny gags.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks my friend! Yours is looking good too!
Ada K. Posted 7 months ago
I started feeling sorry for Dave , then I just figured him for a loser. Don't know what that has to do with him being abducted..
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
You've actually nailed it! And this is the loser the human race is being judged on. We might be in trouble unless he can somehow redeem himself!
Lisa C. Posted 7 months ago
nicely done. poor Dave. It Sure looks like he is having a great day... Love the end. I really hope that he finds that ring:)
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Ha! Yeah it's been a rough one for our bumbling anti-hero.
Dave R. Posted 7 months ago
From a short YouTube video you can see just how Partrick can take a scene, and add humor to something that could be seen as sad.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
He's pretty great to work with. He takes it all very seriously and does an absolutely wonderful job.
Mandy G. Posted 7 months ago
Dave looks like his BO would be intolerable yet his farts don't stink. Lol
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Hahaha! You paused it!
Mandy G. Posted 7 months ago
Hilarious
Michelle G. Posted 7 months ago
Decent mission. Definitely showed a different side than the trailer - which was good. Good to see the versatility.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you Michelle!
Shannon H. Posted 7 months ago
Poor Dave. I wanted to know some if the reasons in a close up but I enjoyed the photos. I would've used email and texting in this day and age rather than paper and snail mail (know your audience). Last shot was great!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much! My last break up had nooooo problem writing a long and extensive list in pen, single spaced, double sided, with chapters! HA! Thanks for liking!
Alan N. Posted 7 months ago
enjoyed this silent scene, hilarious. good acting and good sound creation. good luck in making it to the top 40
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much!
Susan C. Posted 7 months ago
Thoroughly entertaining. Love how you've made Dave become a more sympathetic character. Hope he finds the ring!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Good luck with that! He hasn't cut that lawn in years.
Eric T. Posted 7 months ago
Having bought an engagement ring, I was really hoping he'd go after it. And I really hoped the moon would 'flash' back. Very good work - I really like that Dave is humanized here.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Eric. We really appreciate the support!
Lesley C. Posted 7 months ago
Creative take on speechlessness! Loved the flashlight code! That gal was hilarious too. Sad to say I can totally relate to her expressions, lol.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Ha! So can many of my exes! Thanks for the support!
Lindsey M. Posted 7 months ago
F'ng hilarious! I love that you created a natural silent moment, but still left plenty of room for laughs. It's a complete sequence here. Great job!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Many many thanks Lindsey!
Matt P. Posted 7 months ago
nice work guys. understand first hand how tough it is to tell story without sound, and liked how you used this weeks mission to reveal a little more about your lead - team Post-Apocalyptica
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks a ton my friend! Your project is looking amazing too!
Julie H. Posted 7 months ago
Ohhhh, Dave. Haven't we all known a Dave? Great scene. Addition of the call from Collections was a nice touch. On the main, leaves me asking, "What, if anything, will get Dave to GROW UP?"
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks for the awesome comment Julie! It's almost like it would take the end of the world for Dave to grow up! Oh wait...
Erin C. Posted 7 months ago
Very well done. The performance is great and I love the choice in music. Can't wait to see more - Keep up the good work!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you Erin. We really appreciate the support!
Nadav S. Posted 7 months ago
Nicely done. Great performance from Patrick, so funny. Especially loved the little light in the sky in response to Dave's distress call. Well done!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much. I can't tell you how great it is to work with him. Really appreciate the kind words!
Kari W. Posted 7 months ago
Great job working for it without overusing music... The facial reaction to collections call a little over acted, but really good!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you Karl!
Cai G. Posted 7 months ago
I have to agree with a lot of the posts below, I loved seeing the different sides of this character without it being heavy, I look forward to seeing you make the top 20^^
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you so much! We truly appreciate your support!
Kevin O. Posted 7 months ago
This may sound nitpick but the one thing that really stuck out for me was the letter. Just didn't work for me on lined foolscap with holes punched in it for a binder. Just made me think, young person not wife/older person.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
I could see that, sure. Interesting note! Thanks man.
Drew R. Posted 7 months ago
So long as those aliens are actually hot chicks, I think all will be ok for Dave. Hopefully the sombre defeated tune will change to joyous!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
HA! Awesome.
Doug G. Posted 7 months ago
While the multi-page break up letter (with pics!) was funny, Dave's reaction, and the self-realization of the absurdity of sending an SOS into the night sky balanced it well.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks a ton Doug!
Jordan N. Posted 7 months ago
#BEMOVING very well done, before I thought it was going to be just a comedy, but this really let you see the depth and layers to the character, so before I thought it was just a silly alien comedy but the character actually needs this experience (life lesson) with the alien, and save the world
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
There's a lot more to the story than we've let out of the bag. Hope you like the surprises that are still to come! Thank you for the nice comment!
Will P. Posted 7 months ago
You HAVE to make a full feature now, I can't stand living life only knowing pieces of the story!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
It's really a story we're excited to tell! Thanks for the support!
Andrea H. Posted 7 months ago
Seriously. The world needs to see more of this! Great work guys!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you so much Andrea! Lots more to come!
Shelley T. Posted 7 months ago
That scene looked fantastic guys! So can't wait to see more :D
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks a ton Shelley T!
Ann-Marie S. Posted 7 months ago
I am totally LOVING this movie. The humor mixed wuth emotion is what will help this movie go places. And I hope and pray that that place is Ciniplexs screens come January.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
That makes two of us Ann-Marie! Thank you for your support!
Tyler S. Posted 7 months ago
Alien Abduction is always bringing the humour, then drops in some serious emotion. Well played, very well played.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you. There may be aliens in AA but the heart of the story is a human one we can all relate to. Thanks for the kind words.
Ann-Marie S. Posted 7 months ago
Loved this segment of the film. So Can't wait to see more
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much!
Kelly G. Posted 7 months ago
Haha, you guys had me giggling right off the bat. Way to keep the sad silly and the silly sad. Lots of movies can't find a good balance of the two. Great blend, I quite enjoyed it. Good luck!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much! I think there's a lot about Dave that we can all relate to and the silliness we sometimes take seriously. Thanks for the kind words!
Samantha M. Posted 7 months ago
I cant wait to see this entire movie
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Us too! HA!
Dana B. Posted 7 months ago
Fun to watch. Nicely done...
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you Dana!
John K. Posted 7 months ago
I like the concept for this movie and this was a nice piece..., well acted and written and directed... I have enjoyed all your missions so far and this continues to prove that you guys know what you're doing. Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing more from aliens subduction and seeing this project continue to progress and evolve through the competition.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you John. It's been a fun journey for us and our story. Still much to come!
Mital G. Posted 7 months ago
Excellent performance!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Working with Patrick is simply a joy. Thanks a bunch. Will pass along the message.
Emilio S. Posted 7 months ago
Nice!! Great ending. You went from seeing the guy being a jerk to actually kind of feeling for him in the end. Great subtleties and very funny!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you Emilio!
Janine F. Posted 7 months ago
That was brilliant! It's added so much to your already excellent concept. Having a scene that's touching and funny at the same time definitely shows your teams' versatility and genius.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
We sort of look at is like reverse comic relief!
Gianna I. Posted 7 months ago
Great job once again! :) Love that there's a little bit of humour in here but this week you've taken a different route & it pays off! (Team Rosalind Revenge)
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you Gianna! There's a lot to this story that is yet to come. I hope you enjoy the twists and turns!
Gianna I. Posted 7 months ago
Looking forward to it! :)
Aiden C. Posted 7 months ago
Well executed
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Many thanks.
David M. Posted 7 months ago
Poor Dave. He's obviously a bit of jerk, but you can't help but feel bad for him. With every piece you tease, I want to see this movie more and more. Beautiful job!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you David. I'm hoping that future missions give us the opportunity to introduce even more.
Afzal H. Posted 7 months ago
This was AWESOME! You guys did a great job. I started laughing as soon as I saw the "list of reasons" - great use of humour and it sets the tone but most importantly it tells us a lot about the film's tone. And I love how the scene ends with him on the grass - as it opens up a whole new world for the actual story.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much for the kind words Afzal. We hope the sincerity of this piece gives you an idea of what to expect in the feature! Thanks again.
Katie T. Posted 7 months ago
That was wicked. Love the sad sap story and the cool ending. Really sets up who this guy is and what he's about to be in for. Great job.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much Katie!
Ian T. Posted 7 months ago
From funny to sad to hopeful - such a wide range of emotions you guys captured in just under two minutes. You guys are awesome. Good luck from Team Stream
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Oh wow! Thank you for such kind words! We truly appreciate it.
Helen M. Posted 7 months ago
Great job this week. I like the way you've set up the introduction to Dave's character. Love the innocent & unintentional signaling to the alien ship. I think Dave's going to get more than he bargained for....and maybe the ring back too?!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you so much. Looking forward to showing you more soon!
Erik H. Posted 7 months ago
Liked the clip. the film seems pretty interesting. I would really like to see the finished product. Keep up the good work guys.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Erik! Much appreciated.
Andre v. Posted 7 months ago
Nice work. Tells us about him, his backstory, his issues and his hopes - as crazy as they may be. Nice ending too. (Life of a Locksmith)
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you Andre!
Andy O. Posted 7 months ago
I'm very impressed with what you have come up with this week. People need to keep an eye on this project!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Andy!
Sharon H. Posted 7 months ago
Looks good. Dave is a GUY. Enjoyed this clip very much. Would like to see the entire film. you just knew he was going to try to find the ring the second he flicked it away.... want to see more!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Well thank you Sharon! See...Dave aint all bad! He's just not very smart! HA!
Tyler S. Posted 7 months ago
This is Mission shows what a true indie film can do in just over a week. One character and One location, some of their competition look as though they have already finished their films.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you so very much for the kind words. Hope future missions give us a chance to show you even more.
Benjamin O. Posted 7 months ago
Silent but deadly! Well done. I really want to see where this all goes. Thank you for not doing a video montage to an "amazing" score.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Silent but Deadly!! HAA! Thank you!
Mandy G. Posted 7 months ago
Great! Great character development. Loved the sound. Left me speechless. :)
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Many thanks!!
Marcella C. Posted 7 months ago
I'll make this short & sweet, kinda like me: great job guys. Yes Dave's a jackass, but he's a jackass with heart.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you Marcella!
Holly W. Posted 7 months ago
love it. wanna see the whole thing! :) thanks guys!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank YOU for the support! Looking forward to showing you more!
Daylen M. Posted 7 months ago
Collections! DO NOT ANSWER haha. Really enjoyed this one. Liked the sub-plot and the stupid mistakes we all make.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you kindly Daylen!
Connor B. Posted 7 months ago
A lot of pressure was put on the actor here, carrying the scene himself with no dialogue and I thought he did a very nice job.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Patrick is an absolutely great actor. We are lucky to have him on the project. Many thanks.
Joseph T. Posted 7 months ago
Very cool story idea with the flashlight! I wasn't too into it up until then, but the flashlight gag sold me for sure! Nice work! Bravo, from part of Slay to Rest!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks man! That's an idea we've had cooking for some time. It was nice for us to bring that beat to life.
Marc B. Posted 7 months ago
A great contrast to the trailer, this scene shows that the film has some serious depth to it. Well played.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
There are certainly many layers and elements to explore and I thank you for your kind words!
courtney n. Posted 7 months ago
After watching the original trailer, I thought this was just another farce. However, this wordless scene showed a depth to Dave which I appreciated, even while keeping it humorous
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you Courtney. These missions have been a great opportunity for us to show just a little more about this story. Thanks for the kind words.
Bill G. Posted 7 months ago
An unexpected sub-plot to the original premise. It adds great depth to the film overall that captured me. How these conflicts will connect intrigues me.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks so much. I think we can all relate to Dave at some level.
Gerjet B. Posted 7 months ago
The art of show don't tell is one of the film making skills that are very underestimated. To show important plot points and telling the story without one single word is a skill film makers need to master, to keep a good pacing. This clip shows, within its short time, what kind of character Dave is and what Lindsay's intensions were to leave him.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you for the lovely comment Gerjet. Much appreciated.
Enigma A. Posted 7 months ago
I should also mention that Patrick really knows how to find the humour and pathos in a scene without resorting to broad mugging or tics....ACTING!!!!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
That night, he worked hard to find the line between too big and too small. I think he found it!
Jason M. Posted 7 months ago
makes you feel for the character a little more. Gives it a bit of heart which all great comedies have
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Jason!
Enigma A. Posted 7 months ago
you mean it ain't just about anal probes?
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
We've shown you the butthole. Now see the heart! HA!
Jim M. Posted 7 months ago
You made me like this guy and learn a lot about his outlook on life in short order, without dialogue. He even knows when he's just made a mistake. Show me more.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Hope that there will be more missions like this soon!
Jan B. Posted 7 months ago
Nice intro, you show the character's inner conflict, making it easy for us to relate. Nicely acted :)
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Jan!
Jennifer M. Posted 7 months ago
Great job! I'm looking forward to seeing how far you folks go with this!
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Thank you Jennifer! Your support is awesome.
Aaron S. Posted 7 months ago
The final few seconds are just heartbreaking.
Matty G. Posted 7 months ago
Oh wow. Thank you!
Aaron S. Posted 7 months ago
Not a problem, and to be quite honest I was a little caught out by it. Anyway, it would seem like quite a few people agree with me!
Cyndi F. Posted 7 months ago
Loved it! You were able to tell a lot with no dialog. That's always really impressive.
