Overview

Synopsis

When Mitchell, Carter and Lana -the crew of Earth’s only deep space ship- encounter a lifeless double of their own craft, fascination soon turns to fear. Beset by strange events and ghostly visions as they explore this impossible ship, Mitchell succumbs to nightmarish hallucinations and hurls himself unprotected into the void... only to find himself back on Earth where he learns the truth: their mission has gone horribly wrong, their memories have been radically altered and Lana is not just his crew-mate, she’s his wife. And she is pregnant! Mitchell must now return to the ship and confront the mysterious force that threatens all their lives or he will lose his wife and unborn child forever.

I quite Like the use of, what I am assuming, is basic special effects. However, After reading the summery ("Fascination turns to fear as the crew of the deep space exploration ship Archimedes discover the impossible truth about their mission.") and watching the trailer, I am still unsure of what exactly the plot-line is.

there's definitely potential here. I do find your overview to be a little confusing, same as the trailer. I think there is a fine line between confusing your audience and creating intrigue - you're teetering on the edge here. You may need to work harder in your missions to show what you're capable of in order to obtain the voters interest.

Way too cheesy for me and the actors were not the best. You will need a much bigger budget if you want it to look even remotely real although I can appreciate the effort that went into it. Good luck

Pretty lofty goals for this one - could be trouble making it awesome for under a million. Trailer itself looked pretty good - especially for as much cg as you had. Pacing was a little slow - but nothing that couldn't be fixed. Good job and good luck guys :)

Man. Epic ambition, attempting a 2001-style sci-fi story for this contest. The trailer was certainly interesting, and the range of visual effects you tried is impressive. (I'm not sure what the camera trick is to make your astronaut look like he's floating more than standing; still, you have an *astronaut,* so colour me impressed.) However, the trailer didn't give me that much of a sense of the story. The synopsis (and this is pretty much most trailers I've seen) has way more information than the trailer itself, which would have been great to have known. The fact that their memories have been messed with; the fact that he thinks that woman on the planet is his wife; right now, it seems like there's some weird stuff going on, then the man touches the light and maybe dies, and then has a weird mystical trip. It seems like that's the end of the story; I don't know what's coming next, and I don't really expect anything else. It seems like the end, like in 2001. I'm not sure what else happens, or what the struggle is, just based on the trailer. Best of luck!

Looking pretty good! I was really into everything until the woman standing on the moon. Then it becomes apparent that hallucinations are behind things and takes away from the mysteries in the cosmos which is what I thought the crew was discovering. Something big that's missing: A main character. Any movie or story needs a main character to follow with a clear goal and an obstacle between them and the goal. The 2001ish space mysteries are cool but I want a story!

The stuff on the moon/planet was pretty good, but for the rest...Too obviously non-actors that don't seem to fit the parts. They might work in a truckers-in-space motif ala "Alien" but not here. Also, this film is a good example of why when you don't have a budget, you should really put your focus on practical effects and sets. Would have much preferred if the ship was a model and if the sets weren't just white cardboard.

I don't really know what to say about this. It looks kind of hokey and fake. I love sci-fi and I'm not too sure what this film is about. As far as I know, the trailer is supposed to give you an idea of what a film will be about and I'm lost and uninterested. This doesn't look like something I would enjoy, unfortunately.

Sorry - seems like a bit of a low rent 'Solaris'.
I realize that it is difficult to create sic-fi fantasy on a low budget, even with the tools that are available these days, and so I do my best not to judge to harshly based on that, but the story, and the dialogue and the acting just didn't cut it with me.

I would've focused less on the "meh" special effects and more on the distinctions between this story and the several other psychological space flicks. I'm not quite sure what those distinctions are after seeing this trailer, though there is a glimmer of atmosphere in there that was well done.

The lackluster CG combined with the less-than-stellar acting and I fear there is now way you could properly produce a feature length movie with the prize money. Its in your best interest to scale down the space exploration angle and focus at the story at heart. That being said, I believe there is an Outer Limits episode that had a similar scenario, might be worth investigating.

I don't see any problem with the acting, but there really isn't enough of it in this very effects-focused trailer to judge, so those who are coming down on the acting as if these itty bitty lines can be done so much better, are kinda silly.

But I don't really understand why I am supposed to want to see this. I've seen so many scifi movies about matrixes and virtual realities not being real that this concept (if that's the central thing here, it's hard to tell) is not really exciting me, sorry. Also I don't think it's too fair to come down very hard on the special effects but they seem a little busy to me and overdone.

Again, a sci-fi film that plays with time and alternate reality. I realize that sci-fi films lend themselves to certain things, but as filmmakers we must strive to take the formula and break it. This film feels normal. The costuming could use some work; I imagine it would benefit from more funds, but at this stage you need to work from the resources you have. This one reached a little too far. I think the tagline could use some work too.
