Forget all the other suggestions. There are only two options to consider for casting the gym teacher. Firstly, somebody call up Eric Stoltz. No doubt. There's the possibility he will be too elusive, though. I heard he gave up acting forever. So in that case I would recommend a lesser known, but pretty awesome, West Coast actor named Stephen Miller. He's the guy in Best in Show who's talking about fly fishing lures before Christopher Guest leaves to go to the dog show. A risk, I know. But a risk that could pay off.
Seth C. Posted 5 months ago
These are great,Stephen would kill this role

How about a natural artist in front of the camera? Though Ian Connor would not announce it himself. Also, skilled behind the camera from start to finish including editing. Okay Ian don't crush me.
Lu C. Posted 5 months ago
Well not sure that our lives are defined by violence. More our lives are defined by our reponse to conflict be it environmental or psychological. True Grade nine is identifiable by everyone.

He's becoming a popular pick
Kathy L. Posted 5 months ago

Steve Carell
Lorette P. Posted 5 months ago
james brolin would be good,
Dennis B. Posted 5 months ago
Bob Hoskins would be perfect for this role
Donald Y. Posted 5 months ago
Peter Keleghan. He is perfect for the role and has the age and maturity to play a teacher who has been there a while and knows the score. I could imagine him telling kids that wrestling is the way to manhood, but failing that, they could always move to South America, the land of opportunity.
Denise M. Posted 5 months ago

Lance R. Posted 5 months ago
I would like to see either Jason segel or Josh Brolin
Jeff U. Posted 5 months ago
He might take it a little over the top, but - Bruce McCullough?
Seth C. Posted 5 months ago
Over the Top is probably the best arm wrestling movie ever
Karyn T. Posted 5 months ago
Simon Pegg would be fabulous for this role.
Louise R. Posted 5 months ago
I like the idea of Mark Wahlberg for this role
Jay R. Posted 5 months ago
Seth Rogen? Feels like he could channel a little bit of his Freaks and Geeks character and would definitely be able to do the drama comedy mix. Also very Canadian.
birdy p. Posted 5 months ago

Gemma T. Posted 5 months ago
Simon Pegg is a good choice :)

Ange M. Posted 5 months ago
I think Simon Pegg would be good
Andy O. Posted 5 months ago
A run down Sean Astin would fit!
Lisa R. Posted 5 months ago
Simon Pegg
Ryan B. Posted 5 months ago
Bruce Willis!
Toby G. Posted 5 months ago
We did actually talk about Bruce!
Ryan B. Posted 5 months ago
seems a perfect fit. return to "moonlighting" type of character. i bet he'd do it tooo.
Gilbert H. Posted 5 months ago
Paul Rudd would be so much fun to see as this character. Plus have that awkward never really made it in high school atmosphere about him.
Dylan W. Posted 5 months ago
Cool stuff!!
Anita P. Posted 5 months ago
I'm thinking Vincent Regan or Guy Pearce here; or even Grant Bowler.
sue g. Posted 5 months ago
Yes I can Simon Pegg in this role!
Seth C. Posted 5 months ago
Its been kinda fun going around and playing match-maker with all the projects.
Kaitlyn G. Posted 5 months ago
I'm not sure I see him as a wrestling coach but Stanley Tucci is phenomenal at everything he does and I can see him as a mentor to the young people in this movie.
Natalie B. Posted 5 months ago
Jensen Ackles. He's a lovely human being.
Tim T. Posted 5 months ago
Ron Perlman perhaps. A little older, but what the hell.

Jo W. Posted 5 months ago
simon pegg
Mary G. Posted 5 months ago
I'm thinking Steve Carell...
Toby G. Posted 5 months ago

Toby G. Posted 5 months ago
Thanks Alexa!
Jennifer S. Posted 5 months ago
Bryan Cranston. He can do anything.
Toby G. Posted 5 months ago

Huxi D. Posted 5 months ago
Loooooove it!
Terrence A. Posted 5 months ago
love the description of mihailov. very spot on.
Julian G. Posted 5 months ago
I think that many actors could work, but Ed Norton has the perfect balance of dramatic intensity and dry humour to do justice to this role.
Seth C. Posted 5 months ago
The more i think about Ed Norton the more i like it. I loved his performance in Moonrise.
Toby G. Posted 5 months ago
Ed Norton! Yeah that would be epic
Dianne S. Posted 5 months ago
Mark Whalberg
Tara S. Posted 5 months ago
John C. Reilly.
Toby G. Posted 5 months ago

Trudy S. Posted 5 months ago
I thought of someone like a Will Sasso, but I like the idea of J.K. Simmons.
Chado M. Posted 5 months ago
Bradley cooper
Jordan S. Posted 5 months ago
Richard Jenkins fits the bill perfectly in my opinion.
Will R. Posted 5 months ago
My vote also goes to Nathan Fillion
David M. Posted 5 months ago
I like the J.K Simmons idea. I could also see Chi McBride in the role.
Candy H. Posted 5 months ago
I would agree with john C Reilly as your teacher.
Jennifer C. Posted 5 months ago
I think Duane Johnson would be good. He has shown that he can be serious and funny actor. He could easily play the wrestling coach. Mathew Perry would also be good as you talked about how the character lives through his students.
Darren H. Posted 5 months ago
I like the idea of seeing Seth Rogan in the film. But can he handle the dramatic aspects of the film? I think that it would be great to see a strong Canadian actor like him play the role. But I am not sure he could do it justice.
June B. Posted 5 months ago
Not to type-cast him as a teacher but, Gerry Dee. I think he could do it. Or how about Eric McCormack? He's well known in North America.
LEE C. Posted 5 months ago
Nathan Fillion
Jeremy J. Posted 5 months ago
I'd have to agree with many people and say Seth Rogen
Gill R. Posted 5 months ago
John C. Reilly, because he is pretty much awesome in everything and isn't afraid to go 'indie'. Just check out his performance in 'Terri' to see why I chose him.
Seth C. Posted 5 months ago
Love his Steve Bruel
Gill R. Posted 5 months ago
Sweet berry Wine, for your health.
Annabelle H. Posted 5 months ago
I agree that Seth Rogen would be a good match for this role, and it would be great to see a major Canadian actor in this film.
Jay R. Posted 5 months ago
I like this idea.
Mackie B. Posted 5 months ago
Seth Rogan would be hilarious. Maybe a different role though. Like neighbourhood dungeon master. Or the owner of the local DnD shop.
Christy L. Posted 5 months ago
I can't wait for the film!!!
Levi M. Posted 5 months ago
if you are not voting for grade 9, you are not living #grade9 #living #mr.mihailov

Mackie B. Posted 5 months ago
Ahaha Levi knows whats up.
Michelle G. Posted 5 months ago
If you're looking for someone more comedic to fill the role I think Will Arnett would be an interesting Canadian choice for the role. But if you're looking for something a little more serious - I think Matt Dillon would be perfect.
Seth C. Posted 5 months ago
Love them both! Can't wait to have the time to watch the new AD on Netflix. "Illusions, Micheal"
Hannah P. Posted 5 months ago
I can see Nathan Fillion being a good fit for the role!
Benjamin H. Posted 5 months ago
Seth Rogen - some Canadian content and be interesting to see him flex some dramatic moments.
Travis S. Posted 5 months ago
Looks like a good film!

J.K. Simmons who was great in indie film Juno and could tap into gamer/genre fandom with his turn as J. Jonah Jameson in the Spiderman movies would be perfect in this role.
Jay R. Posted 5 months ago

A few come to mind, who can carry such an important Role and keep the audience and who everyone respects. My list begins with ~ Ben Kingsley ~ followed by Robert Downey Jr. and of course everyones all time favorite ~ Morgan Freeman. All 3 have such strong qualities and I feel can bring this character, Mr. Mihailov to life. It is a tough choice for sure.
Rob H. Posted 5 months ago
Hugh Dillon from Flashpoint and the Headstones!

J.K Simmons. He's a great character actor and very tough. He can be compassionate, wry, cruel, and witty. His work in OZ is a great example of this. He is on the upper end of the age band of for the character but he could make it work.
B K Singh R. Posted 5 months ago
