Cathy R. Posted 6 months ago
I don't understand the connect between this mission style and Grade Nine. I think you need to stick to your grade nine look.
Jay R. Posted 6 months ago
Hi Cathy, This mission style is a tribute the 1980's classic "Conan The Barbarian" - the scene we choose is a parody of the "Riddle of Steel" scene from the movie. Folks who grew up in the era get it no problem. It is also a tip of the hat to our D&D crowd.
Khat V. Posted 6 months ago
Nice ending! Thinkin' the hair suits ya

Helen M. Posted 6 months ago
For all of the effort put into costumes & setting I would have liked the tone of the the voice to be played on as well (deeper?) ...& perhaps some type of reaction from the 2nd character...even a grunt, lol. The explanation itself was okay though.
Vish P. Posted 6 months ago
You guys are original and exceptionally talented !! Your hard work will pay off !! Keep on marching to the finish line :)
Wesley S. Posted 6 months ago
Great serious explanation.. And good approach! Costumes are awesome! Just needed a wolf to howl in the distanct :) Good luck!

Thanks, Emma. My friends used to rent this property in West Van on the Cap River. They moved out a few years ago, but put us in touch with the current renter who very kindly lets us shoot there.

Jay R. Posted 6 months ago
Mostly bike inner tubes cut up and wrapped around patches of fur and fur coats. Armour is inner tube layered over cardboard w/some twine for stitching. My under-robe is burlap and landscape netting.

So awesome! Can't wait to see the whole thing!!!
Lu C. Posted 6 months ago
The scene (costumes) did add value (interest) so that I hung in to appreciate the authenticity of the message and to the movie itself.
Jay R. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks for hanging in there - We found the glasses amusing - especially when you consider how much effort we put into the rest of the production design - Besides, I NEVER take my glasses off.
Lu C. Posted 6 months ago
Acting lacking though the last few seconds was a pleasant surprise. Basically turned off at moment one by the glasses. Unless I missed their purpose, losing the glasses would have been advised.
Connor B. Posted 6 months ago
Love the costumes, and the extra line at the end is funny.
Al D. Posted 6 months ago
Fantastic!!! Lovin' every minute of it!!!
Matt S. Posted 6 months ago
Conan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Matt G. Posted 6 months ago
Wow... you guys outdid yourselves on this one. Easily the most creative mission 4 out of the ones I checked out. Keep up the good work!
Jody M. Posted 6 months ago
There it is! I was waiting for the punchline on that video. Great production! Interesting take on the whole "Origins" idea too. Very creative

Tiara A. Posted 6 months ago
Awesome costumes with a lot of heart, gotta love it! Great job!
Parissa B. Posted 6 months ago
Amazing talent and creativity in delivering your vision...no doubt a lot of work goes into each mission. Very entertaining!
Lorette P. Posted 6 months ago
Love the concept is this movie. The problem exists today.
Gill R. Posted 6 months ago
Great little Conan homage there, really enjoyed that. You can tell the films that really care about this competition, they put the effort in to entertain with each mission.
Amanda C. Posted 6 months ago
Conan! haha good work guys love the costumes!
Colin T. Posted 6 months ago
excellent job on the mission, very well and uniquely delivered. And loved the touch with the costumes.
Loretta W. Posted 6 months ago
Well done. Capturing the thoughts, imagination and actions of this particular age group is key to understanding growth
Betty H. Posted 6 months ago
Your Genesis video explained your vision well. I loved that an elder spoke to the younger teaching important lessons. As you say, fitting in isn't easy. Not sure about the add-on. I assume it is a quote from a warrior, but didn't feel it fit with project's mission. Overall, good work.
Jay R. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Betty - the easter egg after the bumper is a classic quote from Conan - this mission was a bit of a tribute to a scene from that film - to many of our fans it is a classic
Amy Z. Posted 6 months ago
Love all you have done. Such a well done project, and the mission videos are outstanding. Kudos everyone!
Galena E. Posted 6 months ago
amazing wardrobe!
Afzal H. Posted 6 months ago
Great job! You guys will definitely be in the Top 5!!! Full of passion.
Michelle G. Posted 6 months ago
great mission - it's got all the content and a unique delivery.
Kellie M. Posted 6 months ago
You guys can do no wrong! Congrats on making the Top 40- you have always been one of my faves! :)
June B. Posted 6 months ago
Love the concept. Some treatment to deepen the speaker's voice would have been cool - to emphasize the wisdom of the character. Good job!
Natalia N. Posted 6 months ago
I totally agree! That would've definitely added to the coolness of the mission
R2 D. Posted 7 months ago
I'm a fan of The Famishing so this really did it for me. Straight up nice share owlbro's!

Mackie B. Posted 7 months ago
I love this from the bottom of my heart!!! Funny with serious undertones. Great acting, dope costumes and awesome locations!!!
Mackie B. Posted 7 months ago
Totally Awesome! The costumes are true indi works of art. I thought you guys spent big bucks on the costumes. And when I found out that the costumes where just old fur coats and bicycle tiers it blew my mind. Rad!
Marnie D. Posted 7 months ago
Love your creativity every week. I am always wanting more.
Bernie H. Posted 7 months ago
ha! pretty hilarious and insightful! well done Niners!
Laurel L. Posted 7 months ago

Love it. Nice job guys, as usual! -Team WolfCop
Jay R. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Man - WolfCop is a personal hero of mine. If you win can I have a Cameo?
Lowell D. Posted 7 months ago
Ha! Sure. And vice versa...!
Bari D. Posted 7 months ago
Love how you did your approach for the Genesis video. Small world - I'm also from Vernon, B.C. and had a bunch of friends in Prince George. Good luck for the next stage.
Jay R. Posted 7 months ago
Small world!
Grayson W. Posted 7 months ago
This is really well filmed...why do you need a million dollars to make your movie that takes place in a high school? Just get out there and do it, i dont think its bold enough to win this thing.
Also D&D is a bit too old school for most people now, only like underground nerds play it and they make up so little of the population ( i am in highscool). Another team used a LOTR reference and i think that stuck better
Jay R. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Grayson. I appreciate your confidence in our skills. All feature length films cost money - believe it or not, 1 mill goes very quick. PS - There are more "nerds" out there than you think - they are all around you.
Andre v. Posted 7 months ago
Love the warrior and quest type set-up. High school does polarize everything. Nicely done. (Life of a Locksmith)
Jac r. Posted 7 months ago
Very nice. I would have really liked to see you wield that sword and chop someone's head clean off, but that…is another story.
Kerri S. Posted 7 months ago
Loved it! Lots of insight into the personal life and story behind Grade Nine. Loved the Conan clip as well as old family photo's if the day!
Jessica M. Posted 7 months ago
YES!
John K. Posted 7 months ago
nice video... funny
B K Singh R. Posted 7 months ago
wow , i did not know that, it was very informative jay....
Richard M. Posted 7 months ago
Well-done like the warrior reference
Christina I. Posted 7 months ago
hahahahaha super hilarious guys! where did you get those wicked costumes from? way to go, keep it up!!!
Jay R. Posted 7 months ago
Costumes were cobbled together by Seth and I from old fur coats, bicycle inner-tubes & pieces of armour I made for a post nuke short.
Jeff C. Posted 7 months ago
Beautiful as always - Jay in the conan costume= forever etched in my mind haha!
Christopher W. Posted 7 months ago
Nice production values! It goes by pretty quickly and there's a lot of info, but I do get a sense that this is a genuine, personal project and that it will feel authentic. Also great to see the writer telling all this to the character that I'm gonna assume is meant as his on-screen surrogate. If this film doesn't make it to #1, you'd better find a way to get it made or I will rain fire upon you.
