... should bring some of this comedy into the Mill and the Mountain... lighten the mood
Leanne B. Posted 5 months ago
It's obvious you guys are a lot of fun! I think since you are doing a thriller making this creepy like a modern Hitchock. That angle would have been more catchy and professional for me anyway. Your idea is good already goofiness wasn't required.
Donald Y. Posted 6 months ago
Good to know where the story came from. But where will it end? A good question as if it is held in enough people's minds, it could carry this project into the top 5.
Renee D. Posted 6 months ago

Lmafo. Great job

Smart using the top teams to draw traffic to your mission!
Steve A. Posted 6 months ago
Work smarter, not harder. Right? ;)
Riley W. Posted 6 months ago
Great Genesis video! Really enjoyed the story's concept and the inspiration for this idea! Nice job guys! Look forward to seeing more from your team! Team BAD
Tiara A. Posted 6 months ago
Congrats on the double bill guys!
Sarah T. Posted 6 months ago
Hottest queens out there, by far.
Steve A. Posted 6 months ago
So hot. Haha.
Ange M. Posted 6 months ago
Nice pitch..like the fun aspect
Steve A. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Ange!
Cat R. Posted 6 months ago
I liked your interview but the silly people in the background were distracting. Haha.
Steve A. Posted 6 months ago
Exactly how we had planned it :) Did you end up watching twice?
Stacey A. Posted 6 months ago
Nice to see filmmakers having a little fun, in a competition that in no doubt is demanding and stressful. Shows us the lighter side. Great job with this mission!
Steve A. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks so much Stacey! We had a good time doing this mission and are also having such a great time in this competition!
Sean H. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks, Stacey!
Janine F. Posted 6 months ago
I love that you guys aren't your movie. This was fun while still telling us the genesis.
Sean H. Posted 6 months ago
YES! You totally get us. Thanks for coming and checking out our mission this week.
Diane N. Posted 6 months ago
I did not share this mission with my friends on facebook. Sorry. I found the silliness a distraction. You have a fantastic story going for you... stick to that. I agree with all of Fabien's comments below.
Sean H. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks for the feedback, Diane. We designed this video so people would have to watch it twice - once to learn about our movie and once to watch the smaller screen in the upper corner. One video, double the views = strategic marketing. Check back next week. I think you'll like our hype pitch.
Kate M. Posted 6 months ago
Love the Wolf for obvious reasons. Strong, bold, gorgeous. Call me.
Sean H. Posted 6 months ago
Like you, love you, want more of you
Tiara A. Posted 6 months ago
Great job this week guys, almost get a Zodiac vibe from it with the inspiration taken from real events -- Creepy! Keep at it!
Steve A. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Tiara!
Sean H. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks, Tiara! The Highway of Tears is a greatest, unsolved mysteries in Canada. Imagine growing up in a place where women are murdered every other year or vanish with no trace...and that becomes "normal" through your childhood. Steve from our team has some interesting stories and we've turned them into a pretty cool screenplay.
Tiara A. Posted 6 months ago
I know very little about the highway, definitely piques my interest!
Fabien W. Posted 6 months ago
This video is funny, because it's silly, I don't think this is the point of CineCoup. Everyone can put on a couple of wigs and dance in front of a camera. Not everyone can create stunning films. It does not take anything away from the rest of what you did though.
Sean H. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks for the feedback, Fabien, and for checking out our work this week. We took a look at our Facebook metrics and at the YouTube metrics of two of our competitors...and wanted to give this strategy a try. Here's what CineCoup is about in our eyes: only 3% of all films screened in Canadian theatres are made by Canadians. You can make beautiful films but if you don't know how to market them, be memorable, and build a fan base, hardly anyone will see your work. Let us know if you have any questions about the film. We're revising our FAQ and would love your feedback.
Fabien W. Posted 6 months ago
As I replied to Tiara, I like what you do and think you can make stunning films, just find it too bad that this video is popular for the (in my opinion) wrong reasons. Good job though because it's working!
Diane N. Posted 6 months ago
If (oops, when) you win, CineCoup will do the marketing for you.
Tiara A. Posted 6 months ago
Have you seen their trailer? There is no doubt they are capable of creating stunning film. This process is about getting to know them as people and filmmakers, taking yourself so seriously all the time is a drag, pun intended.
Fabien W. Posted 6 months ago
What I meant is that I liked their trailer, I watchlisted the project, that's why I came to see this video. I just find it too bad that this video is popular because of its silliness and not because of their film making skills. I definitely include them in the "few that can make stunning films".
Steve A. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Fabien. That means a lot to us. This platform is all about starting conversations and we take your feedback seriously. So thanks!
Diane N. Posted 6 months ago
Fabien is giving excellent advice. For me, Mission 5 missed a good opportunity to elaborate on M&M... the actors, story line, setting, plot, title... I hope mission 6 does.
Sean H. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks for your honest feedback! Outside of our film projects, Steve and I own a production company that specializes in online projects. Out of curiosity, which Mission 5 videos appealed to you most?
Diane N. Posted 6 months ago
Since the goal was to explain your inspiration for the film, I liked the ones that did just that. 2 come to mind: Longyear, and the Pineville Heist. In Longyear, the 2 guys explain everything.... starting with the title. They spoke slowly, clearly, with enthusiasm and a sense of purpose. They were having fun - talking about the film to come.
Diane N. Posted 6 months ago
I agree Fabien. If CineCoup's gonna fork out 1 million, I'm sure they're gonna want serious work all the way. Perception is reality.
Loretta W. Posted 6 months ago
Based on the two stories has got me curious to see more. Good luck.
Sean H. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks for the feedback, Loretta! Come back and check out our hype pitch next week.
Dominic R. Posted 6 months ago
Another funny mission from you guys. I'm curious to see how this will all connect.
Steve A. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Dominic. So are we :)
Diane N. Posted 6 months ago
If it doesn't connect - don't put it out there.
Natalia N. Posted 6 months ago
It was funny, informative and entertaining to watch. Job well done guys! Crazy to hear the two stories that inspired this.
Steve A. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Natalia! We think our story is quite unique and am excited to get it on the screen.
Sean H. Posted 6 months ago
Congrats on your superfandom! It's been cool to watch your progression since Feb 28. Let us know if you have any questions about our concept. Would love to chat and get your feedback.
Natalia N. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks so much! Its definitely been a lot of work but hopefully it'll be worth it :)
Afzal H. Posted 6 months ago
This was really funny. You guys did a great job making it so entertaining.
Steve A. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks Afzal. We tried super hard to make it not a "run of the mill" talking head video. Glad you liked it!
Andréa V. Posted 6 months ago
I enjoyed that a great deal. You guys are such naturals:)
Steve A. Posted 6 months ago
You're a natural....woman!!! Zing!
Michelle G. Posted 6 months ago
good job guys - good explanation of where the idea came from.
Steve A. Posted 6 months ago
Cool. Thanks Michelle!
MaryAnne J. Posted 7 months ago
Looking forward to seeing where your inspirations lead you.
Sean H. Posted 7 months ago
Hey! Thanks for coming and checking out our work every week. Flashback to those sleepovers at your house in BB as a kid, getting my first taste for computers with Mark and Stacey. Would never have imagined doing something like this back then!
Andrew M. Posted 7 months ago
Despite your story having an intriguing and dark storyline this is subversive, funny and entertaining. I like it.
Steve A. Posted 7 months ago
Thats great. Thanks Andrew! We wanted to really spice this video up and make it entertaining as well as informative. Thanks for watching!
Donal O. Posted 7 months ago
Awesome mission five. That was very funny.
Steve A. Posted 7 months ago
OH YEAH! We finally got you to comment on one of our videos! Thanks Donal!
Donal O. Posted 7 months ago
Did you really sit for one of the Highway of Tears accused? I grew up in that area so that rang home for me
Donal O. Posted 7 months ago
How long were you in production before Cinecoup or did you develop only for the competition?
Sean H. Posted 7 months ago
Hey, Donal! Thanks for checking out our work. Our film was originally a half-completed novel that I started in 2007. When I met Steve in 2011, we felt that it would work better as a screenplay (and boy oh boy we're we right!). CineCoup gave us the kick-in-the-ass we needed to complete the script and get to work.
Steve A. Posted 7 months ago
Yeah, I babysat a kid who is accused of killing 4 woman, who are not associated with the Highway of Tears. I grew up in Fort St James so was very aware of Highway of Tears' murderer. Where are you from?
Colin T. Posted 7 months ago
Your story is very cool, and I continue to be intrigued by it. Also love to see that you guys are having lots of fun with this.
Steve A. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks Colin. As you can tell, we had as much fun a three female filmmakers could have :)

:) it's awesome to see you guys in Top 40! best of luck for Top 15!
Steve A. Posted 7 months ago
Don't forget to go all the way down the page and click all the hearts! They get us super points :)
Diane N. Posted 7 months ago
Congrats to all involved for making it into the Top 40.
Sean H. Posted 7 months ago
Thanks, Diane! We saw you on the superfan list. Nice work.
Diane N. Posted 5 months ago
I'm presently sitting at 13 - (May 15). I may get bumped off when it goes down to TOP 10. Oh no...
Diane N. Posted 7 months ago
Great job guys. When are we going to find out about the title? What happens at the mill - the grisly murder? And the mountain ???
Steve A. Posted 7 months ago
Well, by my math it's going to take at least 8 months before the film is released. Can you wait that long ;)
Diane N. Posted 7 months ago
Nope, can't wait that long. A title is so important... give me some clues.
Sean H. Posted 7 months ago
DIANE! Take a look at our FAQ here: http://www.steamywindowproductions.com/frequently-asked-questions-faq-for-the-mill-and-the-mountain-movie/
I think I need to update this a bit after your feedback and questions over the mission, but it will help you understand our movie a bit better. Let me know if you have more ??? Would love to keep chatting
Diane N. Posted 6 months ago
Thanks, I checked out the FAQ above. Most of my friends keep forgetting the title M&M, and I'm trying to figure out why. Titles like Lake Cop, Uprising, and West, are easy to remember - they are short and tell you instantly the setting and general idea of the film. The M&M title is not short and we've yet to learn anything about why a Mill or why a Mountain. Knowing something about either might make the title easier to remember, and at the same time not spoil any of the story.
Sean H. Posted 6 months ago
No spoilers! I promise. When we were writing early drafts of the script, we made sure to include a mill and a geographically prominent mountain as key locations for our movie. They are the one thing almost every town in British Columbia have in common - from the coast to the interior to the north. There's a mountain outside Fort St. James called Mt. Pope. The mill in the movie is owned by WestFor (which is a hybrid of CanFor and West Fraser - two of the largest forest product companies in BC). Key scenes take place at the mill and even more in the forests around Mt. Pope and outside the Tache Reserve on the far side of Stuart Lake. You'll see pieces of some of these scenes in our trailer. Does that help?
Diane N. Posted 6 months ago
Yes Sean, that helps alot. When I get off this site, I'll check out all those places you mentioned.
Diane N. Posted 6 months ago
I checked out the area. With Mount Pope, Stuart Lake, etc... you've got stunning views to work with. A cinematographer's delight. There is a dichotomy between the beautiful landscape and the pain suffered by the victims and their families along Highway 16. B.C. has the most beautiful scenery in Canada, and has not be showcased enough. Good opportunity to do so in your film, when you win the million.
Sean H. Posted 6 months ago
We are also 100% open to crowd sourcing all the elements of our movie, including the title. Any suggestions? ;)
Diane N. Posted 6 months ago
How about? The Haunted Mill.......Infamous Highway of Tears.......... Highway of Tears............ Grisly Highway 16..........The Amnesiac If you keep the title The Mill and the Mountain, will there be plenty of shots of Mt. Pope? Could be a good opportunity to highlight the life of the people, the area, the culture, the Tache Reserved, life in a sawmill town, etc....
Sandy B. Posted 7 months ago
Fivey Fivington -- he knows he's got it goin' on, and he wants you to come and get it. Yay The Mill and the Mountain!
Steve A. Posted 7 months ago
Yeah he does! Sexy little dickhead dog :)
